I find getting ADRs a disadvantage for members staying at Shades of Green instead of Disney property. I am staying 1-7Dec15 at Shades and tried to get Candlelight Processional And Be Our Guest. No luck. Disney guests already have these booked. Again Military takes back seat to have to make alternative choices. Any way around this? What id Disney answer to this problem.
Hi Raymond,
This is a big issue for those staying at a non-Disney resort. But it isn’t aimed at the military, rather at everyone who chooses to not stay at a Disney resort.
But this even happens to those staying at a Disney resorts too, those with longer stays can book for dates that shorter stays start on before those staying shorter.
Good morning. I have a quick question on MNSSHP. I know it is really early, but have they confirmed military discounts on the Halloween and Holiday parties? Also, will we be able to buy tickets at the gate for those even if they are sold out to others, just like other years? Thanks! It’s never too early to plan…
Hi Josh,
You are right! But it is too early yet. 🙂 The general public info does not come out till late March, early April each year. The last 3 years I have consistantly had trouble getting the military prices and dates out From Disney, sometimes for weeks after the general public info. One year I had to go to a ticket booth myself when I wa sin town to get the info.
I’m actively trying to prep Disney to do a better job this year.
I do not anticipate any change to the sold out nights policy.
Can you explain how Shades of Green prices Annual Passes? The current rate for a Platinum Plus Annual Pass is $829.00. If you purchase through WDW they add tax for a total of $882.89. SoG prices the Platinum Plus at $856. How to they come up with that price? It’s more than the price without tax, but less than with tax? Thanks!
Hi Cathy,
Sure. As it has been explained to me by Disney, Disney does not actually offer military discount on passes to Shades of Green or Base Ticket Offices (like they do Magic Your Way Tickets). The passes that you can buy from these locations are actually obtained from a third party reseller of discounted tickets.
Hi Steve! THANK YOU for everything. I have your 2017 book and it is amazing! Highly recommend it!
Question: We have 17 people going to WDW in January. We are all family, however we have 4 “heads of family” (my brother,, two daughters and myself. Everyone wants me to handle on the reservations. (SOG, dining and most FP) The only snag is once in the park…we will separate at times. I want individuals to be able to make FP changes if need be for themselves or their kids.
So the question is……..Do I put everyone under my MDE account, or should each head of family make their own account for themselves and their children?
IF they do their own accounts, am I still able to make the initial FP reservations for them?
Again, Thank you very much for your time and expertise!
Jennifer, thank you so much!!!
That book (and the others) takes lots of effort and I’m so happy that you found it useful!
Wow going with a BIG party is fun.
So there are two ways to go about this, give the others your My Disney Experience login, or link other’s accounts to yours. The second is of course preferred and part of how MDE is designed.
I’ve had experience doing this. We had a big group for my daughter’s Disney wedding last year and I linked her and her soon to be hubby (who had their own account) to mine. by doing so I can make FastPasses for them or they can make/edit their own. PhotoPass/Memory Maker is also shared.
In MDE hover over My Disney Experience and then click My Family and Friends List. You can add people by: Hotel reservations or Name and age. You can always call the Disney’s Internet Help Desk at 800-848-6413, Option #3 for assistance.
Thank you Steve!!
