I recently had the chance to stay at an Extended Stay America Hotel less than one mile from the Disneyland Resort! Since they offer Military Discounts I wanted to check them out.
While this review is for a location near Disneyland, Extended Stay America has locations near Walt Disney World, SeaWorld/Busch Gardens locations, and almost anywhere you want to go.
Please note that while my stay at this particular hotel was provided complimentary, that fact in no way affects the information below. You can see my full disclosure policy here.

Extended Stay America Locations
Extended Stay America, Inc., owns and operates over 600 hotels in the U.S. and Canada and provides Military & Government workers with more than just a hotel room when traveling. You’re going to have a great stay with a full size fridge and kitchen, free grab and go breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi!
Naturally, readers of this website are interested in locations near the Disney Theme Park Resorts and other theme parks.
Extended Stay America has you covered for your theme park travel:
- Disneyland Resort – 1 location within walking distance, 5 more within 10 miles
- Orlando, FL Theme Parks – 2 Lake Buena Vista, 1 SeaWorld, & 1 Universal Orlando Locations
- Busch Gardens – 8 locations near Busch Gardens Tampa & 7 locations near Busch Gardens Williamsburg
My Stay Near Disneyland
I recently stayed 2 nights at the location less than one mile from the Disneyland Resort theme park entrances!
I walked to the parks both days, which took me 15 to 20 minutes, but a shuttle bus was also available for $5 per day. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes.
This Hotel is located at 1742 S. Clementine St. in Anaheim. When you exit the front of the property it is literally 5 big blocks to Disneyland. Two turns and two traffic light protected crosswalks and you are there. It is about a 3/4 of a mile walk to the theme parks.
Typical nightly rates at this location are:
- Single King Bed – $155 regular price, $122 with the military discount (plus tax)
- Two full beds with a sleeper sofa – $135 regular price, $112 with the military discount (plus tax)
The other Anaheim locations have similar rates, a couple are lower and a couple a little higher.
My Room
I had a first floor King room near the lobby that was quite large. Besides the king bed the room featured:
- Dresser with Flat Screen TV on top
- Featuring Showtime & Showtime 2
- Free WiFi
- Lounge Chair
- Desk and Chair
- Table and Chair
- Night Stand
- Mini Kitchen
- Full Sized Fridge
- Microwave
- Two Burner Stove
- Sink
- Iron and Ironing Board
The Free WiFi connection was for “standard” speed. If you need a faster connection you can pay an extra fee for that, but I had no problems at all streaming Netflix on the standard connection.
Items for use in the kitchen, such as pots, pans, plates, silver, etc. are not kept in the room, but can easily be obtained from the front desk. There is no coffee maker in the room either, but if you’d like one you can get one from the front desk, or just get your coffee from the thermoses in the lobby as I did.
Because this Extended Stay America operates under a lower priced extended stay model, housekeeping is not available every day. For days 1 -7 there is no housekeeping service. Linens and towels can be exchanged at the front desk as needed. For longer stays you will receive 1 full service of the room every 8th day of your stay. If you desire service more often it can be arranged for a 5-10 dollar fee depending on your needs. But if you are just there for a short to medium Disney trip, this will not even be a factor for you!
One drawback to the bathroom arrangement is that the sink, mirror, vanity area is located in the bathroom instead of in a separate area to facilitate hair and makeup while someone else is using the shower or other bathroom options.
Smoke free or smoking rooms are available and the hotel is pet friendly (there are limits and a nightly fee for pets).
The Common Areas
You’ll find a typical hotel lobby, where in the morning a complementary Grab and Go Breakfast is available from 6 to 9 am. A selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, muffins, breakfast bars, and instant oatmeal are offered. This is perfect to grab a light breakfast to nibble on your walk to the parks!
Vending machines and ice were also available in the coin operated Laundry Room.
This particular location has a small pool located to the rear of the hotel. Unfortunately the weather was quite rainy while I was there, but I was focused on the parks anyway and wouldn’t have had time for the pool.
A Great Option
This hotel is a great option near Disneyland for your stay and the bonus of a military discount makes it even better!
You won’t get the Disney theming that you would at a Disney owned hotel, but if you are spending most of your time in the parks as I did, you’ll just need a good place to lay your head. You also won’t get the high Disney Hotel pricing at Extended Stay America locations.

Hi there,
Great blog!
My husband and I are travelling to Florida in June and he is in the British army.
Do you know if we would be eligible for military discount for Disney, sea world and Busch gardens please?
Thank you
Zoe Hill
Hi Zoe,
Thanks for checking out the site!
The only 2 discounts for non-US military are: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/shades-of-green/non-us-military-members-eligible-to-stay-at-shades-of-green/ & http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Disney-Armed-Forces-Salute.html
But both are for those serving with US forces and require a US issued ID like the one at the bottom left of this page: http://www.cac.mil/common-access-card/
But some have had luck asking in person…
