Military Families can now enjoy the magic of Walt Disney World vacations with the help of the Military Star Card.
Shades of Green the Military Only resort located right on Walt Disney World property now accepts the Army & Air Force Exchange Service administered credit card.
The Military Star card can be used for your room charges, purchases in the AAFES Store, at the Shades of Green Ticket Office for purchasing tickets for Disney and Orlando attractions through Shades of Green, and for special events and weddings as well.
Note: a major credit card is required to hold the room, but upon arrival all charges can be placed on the Star Card
This is a huge development for those who have (or will get) the Star Card. Being able to put your Disney tickets on the card and also your room to if staying at Shades of Green is awesome!
Tip: New Star Card account holders receive a 10 percent discount on their first-day’s purchases with their new Military Star Card and this applies at Shades of Green. So if you don’t have a Star Card you could save that 10% if you use it to pay for all your Shades purchases at check out (and not prior). For more info on the Star Card go to https://bit.ly/2JM6uSN.

About the Card
The Military Star credit card program offers affordable and responsible credit solutions to the military community. The Army & Air Force Exchange Service operates the Military Star program on behalf of the military resale community. The Military Star Card is offered by the Exchange Credit Program.
The Military Star Card does not charge merchant fees to the military resale community, saving the exchanges more than $28 million in costly merchant and bank fees in 2020. Not charging merchant fees allows the Exchange to contribute additional funds to critical military Quality-of-Life programs, such as Child, Youth and School Services; Armed Forces Recreation Centers; and other programs to support troops and their families.
About the Exchange: Since 1895, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) has gone where Soldiers, Airmen and their families go to improve the quality of their lives by providing valued goods and services at exclusive military pricing. The Exchange is the 56th-largest retailer in the United States. Its earnings provided $2.4 billion in dividends to support military morale, welfare and recreation programs over the last 10 years. The Exchange is a non-appropriated fund entity of the Department of Defense and is directed by a Board of Directors.

Can the Military Star card be used at the different Shades of Green’s restaurants?
Yes, resort wide as far as I know.
Thanks! I didn’t even know about the Military Star card until I read about it on your site. I got one and saved $102 on the price of our park tickets!
You bet, Awesome!
No. All the restaurants at the Shades of Green no longer accept the Military Star Card for payment. I was there for a week starting September 2, 2018. I was told by SOG reservations when I booked in May 2018 that the card could be used in all restaurants. The change happened some time after that. The restaurants told me they changed their billing systems and could no longer accept the card. So, if like me, you were planning to charge your families restaurant charges on your card, be prepared to pay with another credit card, debit card or cash.
At at the Garden Gallery tonight. Specifically asked before being seated if they accepted the Military Star card. We were told they did. They don’t. Server said they haven’t accepted it in years, and the host should have known better than to tell us that they did. I wouldn’t have eaten there had I known that. I didn’t want to pay with my bank debit/credit card, but that’s all I had on me besides the Military Star card.
Thanks for the report Peggy
Can you use it in the exchange then?
Yes absolutely.
Thank you
Can the Star card still be used to purchase park tickets thru Shades of Green?
Yes it sure can Ryan
I see plenty of conflicting information. Can you.use STAR card to book the rooms? I booked the Beach Club through gov vactions then went to book SOG and it said invalid card.
Try calling to book Adina.
From Shades of Green FAQ Page:
Can I pay with my Military Star Card?
Yes, we accept the Military Star Card for all Shades of Green purchases.
From their Your Stay Page:
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
You’ll find an ATM at Shades of Green. You can also use your Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Discover and Military Star card. If you need other banking services during your stay, please stop by the Front Desk, and we can help get you information you need.
My Husband and I are going to WDW at the end of January. We are staying at SOG for the first time and we are planning on paying for our room with the Military Star Card. Can we also link this card to our room for resort charges and to our Magic Bands for in park purchases?
Hi Landry,
You can make charges to your room at Shades of Green locations and pay your bill with the Star Card.
Magic Band purchases are only for those staying at a Disney Resort.
I’m confused which star card you can pay your hotel fees with. I have a generic aafes star card, I know there is another one out there that is more a credit card you can use pretty much everywhere Mastercard is excepted. I’m guessing they don’t except the OG
Hi Stacy,
I totally didn’t know there were 2 kinds. I’ve never got one.
But it’s the standard card.
Can you use your military star card to purchase tickets at the MWR on base?
Not that I am aware of…
So .. let me get this straight. On a 9 day trip to Shades of Green I can go eat in a restaurant, (charged to my Star Card) then the next day go buy tickets (also charged to Star Card)…then go to SOG BX on the next day (with another charge)…then pay for my 9 day room payment upon checkout…and I can get 10 percent on ALL of those separate purchases (BUT count them as my very first Military Star card purchase to get the 10 percent off)…Did I just get that right ?
Thanks in advance
Hi John,
Close but not quite right. You charge to the room, not the card!
First, I just checked the Star Card site and they are still offering the 10% on your first day’s purchases.
But it is just for that first day of use. So for this purpose, that would be anything that you can charge to your room and then pay for upon check out which you would make your first day of purchases by not ever using the card prior.
At Shades of Green you can make charges to your room anywhere on property. So, dining, the AAFES Store, and the Ticket Office can all be charged to the room.
You would charge to your room, NOT the Star Card.
Just one issue with this though, Disney tickets need to be purchased in advance in order to make theme park reservations so the ticket office is out of consideration for Disney tickets charged to the room. This would work for tickets to any other location though.
