The Queue
The adventure begins the moment you enter the queue for Avatar Flight of Passage, where you’ll find yourself winding through a lush landscape and into the caves of Pandora.
The queue takes you on a journey through bioluminescent forests, ancient rock formations, and into the heart of the Mo’ara Valley. As you progress, you’ll pass through the remnants of an old RDA base now reclaimed by nature, showcasing a fascinating blend of human technology and Na’vi culture. The queue is filled with stunning details, from the glowing flora to the intricate Na’vi art and artifacts, creating a sense of anticipation and wonder.
As you move deeper into the queue, you’ll eventually find yourself inside the Pandora Conservation Initiative (PCI) lab, where you’ll see a full-sized avatar floating in a tank—an incredible sight that adds to the immersive experience. The queue can be long, but with so much to see, it feels like an essential part of the adventure.
The Ride
Avatar Flight of Passage is an immersive 3D flight simulator that lets you experience the thrill of flying on the back of a banshee. After being linked to your own avatar, you’ll mount a motorcycle-style ride vehicle that mimics the feel of a banshee. The experience is breathtaking as you soar over Pandora’s stunning landscapes, diving through floating mountains, skimming across oceans, and navigating dense forests. The 3D effects, combined with the motion of the ride vehicle, make you feel as if you’re truly flying, and the sensation of the banshee breathing beneath you adds an extra layer of realism.
The ride is a perfect blend of thrilling moments and awe-inspiring beauty, offering a sense of freedom and exhilaration as you explore the world of Pandora from above.
This ride is one of the 2 best at Walt Disney World! In my opinion. It was Number 1 until Cosmic Rewind opened.
The Ride Vehicle
The ride vehicle for Avatar Flight of Passage is designed to simulate the experience of riding on a banshee. It’s a motorcycle-style seat where you straddle the vehicle, with restraints securing your back and legs to ensure a snug and safe fit. The design of the vehicle allows for a full range of motion, which, combined with the visual effects, creates an incredibly immersive experience. Boarding can be a bit tricky for some, as you need to step onto the vehicle and position yourself securely, but Cast Members are on hand to assist and ensure everyone is comfortable. The seating may be a bit tight for larger guests, so it’s worth checking the test seat at the entrance if you have any concerns.
It’s not possible to take photos during the ride; they have you store your loose items, and it’s in 3-D anyway, so pics would be blurry. The images on the screens in this post are examples of the scenery you’ll see but do not do it justice; the experience is simply stunning!
Rider Swap
Rider Swap is available at Avatar Flight of Passage, making it easy for families or groups with younger children or those not wishing to ride. Simply speak with a Cast Member at the entrance, and they will guide you through the Rider Swap process, allowing those who want to ride to do so without waiting in the regular line twice.
Accessibility
Avatar Flight of Passage is accessible to guests with mobility challenges, though it does require a transfer from a wheelchair or scooter to the ride vehicle. The boarding process involves stepping onto the ride vehicle and securing yourself in the seat, so guests need to be comfortable with this type of transfer. Cast Members are available to assist and ensure that the process is as smooth as possible. The loading area is designed to accommodate guests with various needs, but the nature of the ride requires a good level of comfort with the seating arrangement.
Height Requirement
Riders must be at least 44 inches tall to experience Avatar Flight of Passage.
