You’ve heard of Main Street U.S.A. at Walt Disney World, but have you heard of Center Street at the Magic Kingdom?
Center Street is a side street off of Main Street U.S.A located on the right (East) about half way between Town Square and the end of Main Street at the plaza in front of Cinderella Castle.
Main Street in the Morning, with light streaming out of Center Street on the right.
Center Street heads to the east a short distance from Main Street and then dead ends.
There are no attractions, dining locations, or anything to visit on Center Street, there are side exits from the Crystal Arts Store on the north side and Uptown Jewelers on the south. Center Street is just a quiet space with several closed storefronts, and some benches and umbrella tables. It’s a nice quiet spot to take your coffee and pastry from the Main Street Bakery.
At the corner of Center and Main Streets is where you will often find a balloon sals person.
What is now the only portion of Center Street that remains used to be the east portion of Center Street.
The Center Street of the Past
Prior to 2001, Center Street crossed Main Street and extended to both the east and west and housed many merchandise locations.
West Center Street was the original location of the Harmony Barber Shop. The barber shop was located on the south side of West Center Street about half way down the short street on the south side.
In 2001 Â this western portion of the street was gobbled up into the Emporium, being turned into part of the building that extends uninterrupted along the whole west side of Main Street. In days past there were individual shops to the north and south of West Center Street, but today it is all one huge merchandise shop.
The Indented Tan Portion is Where West Center Street Used to Be
Back in the 70s East Center Street housed the Wonderland of Wax Candle Shop, Disney & Co. Toys and Novelties, and Uptown Jewelers. While West Center Street was home to the Barber Shop and the Greenhouse Flower Shop.

A Bit of Trivia and History
The magic Kingdom actually has 2 barber shops, the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street, and the cast barber shop located in the tunnels that run under the Magic Kingdom.
During the period that I worked at Walt DisneyWorld I would get my hair cut once a month at the Harmony Barber Shop after work right before my Reserve Drill Weekend. I’d use the Harmony Shop because it was less busy and was a nicer experience, with better staff.
