The Town Square Theater in the Magic Kingdom is one of the most beloved buildings in all of Walt Disney World.
From its classic façade to its stunning interior, this “theater” has been enchanting visitors of all ages since opening day in 1971.
Located at the entrance of Main Street, U.S.A in the Magic Kingdom, the Town Square Theater is designed to transport guests back in time to the early 20th century. The exterior of the building is modeled after the grand theaters of that era, complete with marquee signs and elaborate detailing. As you approach the entrance, you’ll notice the colorful posters advertising the latest shows, adding to the excitement of what’s to come.
The Town Square Theater building houses an Character Meet and Greet – Meet Mickey Mouse, 2 merchandise locations – The Art of Disney and the Photopass Shop, as well as a restaurant – Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.
Decor and Easter Eggs
Once inside, the theater’s décor is just as impressive as its exterior. The lobby is adorned with chandeliers and ornate furnishings that transport guests to a different era. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the intricate molding to the vintage photographs adorning the walls.
One of the highlights of the Town Square Theater experience is the attention to detail that Disney is famous for. Even while waiting in line, guests are treated to a variety of Easter eggs and hidden details that pay tribute to Disney’s rich history. For example, in the queue for the Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet, visitors can spot Mickey’s love letters to Minnie scattered throughout the area. These charming letters, complete with vintage postmarks and stamps, add a touch of whimsy to the experience.
Another hidden gem in the queue is a glamorous photo of Minnie Mouse, which is framed and hanging on the wall. The photo showcases Minnie in a stunning dress, and it looks like it was taken during the golden age of Hollywood. It’s just another example of the thought and care that Disney puts into creating an immersive experience for guests.
Finally, eagle-eyed visitors might notice a Scrooge brand money safe tucked away in the queue. This is a nod to the popular “DuckTales” cartoon series, in which Scrooge McDuck is always on the hunt for treasure. It’s a small detail, but it’s just one of the many ways that Disney makes its attractions feel like part of a larger, interconnected world.
Meet Mickey Mouse
But the real magic of the Town Square Theater lies in its shows. The theater is home to one of the most beloved characters in all of Disney: Mickey Mouse. Visitors can meet and take photos with Mickey in his magician outfit, making for a truly magical experience. The interactive meet-and-greet with Mickey is a must-do for any Disney fan, young or old.
Meeting Mickey Mouse in Disney World is a magical experience that visitors of all ages will cherish for a lifetime. Mickey Mouse is one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the Disney universe, and getting the chance to meet him in person is a dream come true for many Disney fans.
Once you reach the front of the line, you’ll be greeted by Mickey himself, dressed in his magician outfit. As you step up to him, he may greet you with a hug or a high-five, making you feel like you’re meeting a long-lost friend. The interaction is personalized and genuine, and Mickey has a way of making everyone feel special.
As you pose for your photo with Mickey, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with him and share your favorite memories of Disney. He may even surprise you with a magic trick or two, adding to the excitement of the moment. And when the experience is over, you’ll leave with a photo of you and Mickey that you can treasure for years to come.

Lightning Lane
Using Genie+ Lightning Lane to meet Mickey at the Town Square Theater is the fastest way to get through the queue and meet the iconic character. The Lightning Lane system, introduced in 2021, allows guests to skip the line.
And, when it comes to the Town Square Theater, the Lightning Lane for the Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet is often considered one of the most popular and efficient, allowing you to maximize your time in the park while still getting the full Disney experience. So, if you want to ensure that you meet Mickey during your visit to the Magic Kingdom, consider using the Lightning Lane system and booking your spot in advance.
The Art of Disney
To the right side of The Town Square Theater lobby is the Art of Disney shop featuring beautiful artwork by many artists inspired by all things Disney: theme parks, movies, characters, and more!
You’ll find paintings, sculptures, and more here!
The Photopass Shop
In the far corner of the Art of Disney shop are 2 counters for the Photopass Shop.
Here you can have one or all of the images captured by Photopass Photographers or in ride image captures professionally printed and framed if you desire.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
To the left side of The Town Square Theater lobby is the podium for Tony’ Town Square Restaurant.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is a turn of the century Italian restaurant featured in Lady and the Tramp. Enjoy your own spaghetti love moment while listening to “Bella Notte.” Tony is quite proud of the match he helped create with Walt Disney’s first dog love story, and you will see that as you walk through the restaurant! Amongst the opulence you will see statues of his favorite couple. Don’t let the grand (sometimes gaudy) decorations throw you. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is very casual.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is a typical American-style Italian restaurant. This is the perfect lunch or dinner spot on those “cool” winter days to get your pasta fix. The menu boasts similar dishes that you would see in a chain Italian restaurant like fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmesan, but also butcher’s steak.
