Today Walt Disney World began accepting Resort reservations for 2020 again!
UPDATE – 22 July 2020 – Disney has resumed accepting Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Reservations for 2020! Ears of Experience reported last night that they were again able to make room reservations with this very popular military discount.
Disney has not yet restored their webpage advertising the discount however.
UPDATE – 16 July 2020 – When we originally posted this Disney Military Room Discounts were working just fine for 2020. We are personally aware of many that were booked, so the discount still worked in their system. However over the last week we began to get reports from our Travel Advisor (Ears of Experience) that some Disney cast members were refusing to make military discount reservations, while other cast members would. This required numerous calls to secure reservations.
Then yesterday everything hit a brick wall. All cast members now say they were prohibited from making military resort reservations for 2020!
Also Disney World’s page promoting the Disney Armed Forces Salute Room discount disappeared from their website a few weeks ago.
This leaves many military families not knowing if they will be able to afford a Disney vacation or not!
It’s unknown at this time if this is temporary or permanent. We will continue to track this ad report.
Currently the only discounts Disney is offering on rooms are for annual passholders and Florida residents through September.
9 July 2020 – This not only affects the general public, but the military community as well.
I’m hearing good reports of Military Discount Availability from Our Travel Agent partner Ears of Experience!
Due to the reduction in interest in going to Disney World this year there seems to be good availability of this great discount.
As a reminder while the Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts run for most of the Salute timeframe there are situations when they are not available.
So if you are ready to to WDW, now’s the time to try to get a great military discount!

Hi Steve,
Did Disney quietly remove the resort room discount in the last few days? I happened to check on their website this morning looking for something else and noticed it was gone. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/
I did call last week to add a night to a current reservation (as a standalone so I wouldn’t mess with my price protected 3-night rate) and was told there was no availability for military discounts. The quote I got would be rack rate to add the night (which would have been almost as much as I’m currently paying for 3 nights!)
Have you heard anything?
Thanks for all you do!
Leigh
Hi there Leigh,
Thanks for the question.
Yes something is going on… I actually just put an update at the top of this post!
We’ll just have to see what happens.
Steve, thanks for the update! Appreciated!
Thanks Steve, will keep checking back!
I was expecting a few months ago they’d probably offer few discounts, but considering they added a passholder 40% rate (and I think I heard a FL resident discount too), I was surprised.
Do you think there’s any chance we’ll see military room discounts for this summer? I tried to make a military discounted res a few times last week when reservations re-opened, but I never had any luck. It’s a shame they kept the other discounts but got rid of ours.
Hi Matt,
I just don’t know. Disney has been so uncommunicative to our community during this.
I have a late-Aug/early-Sept trip that has been on the books with a military discount. I decided to add days to the tail end due to 2 lost research trips during the closure. The only discounts available were the passholder (which I got) and the FL res I mentioned in the update. Makes me wonder if they are seeing a lack of desire for non FL residents to travel, and they are getting enough bodies (for the lower attendance limits) offering just those offers.
Thank you so much for the update! This is big news. We were able to get the discount, upgrade our reservation, and still save a ton of money to put towards other parts of our vacation! It’s very nice of Disney to include the military community in their discount deals again with everything going on this year. Thank you again for all you do, Steve.
Thant’s awesome Matt!!!
SO glad it worked out well.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Steve. Had plans to venture to Disneyland in December, but I don’t have a lot of faith they’ll be open by then. I took a chance and called WDW tonight and too my shock, the CM was very knowledgeable about the military room discount and almost all room types at the Poly were open for booking! I’ve had trouble securing a Standard Room at the discounted rate for the last 2 years!!
It’s my pleasure Nikki, that’s awesome.
Here’s to hoping they will release 2021 room discounts before too long! We are planning a trip for the end of February. Thanks to your insight I was able to get the discounted tickets but am hoping we will be able to switch our room reservation over to the discount as well.
You bet Tabitha,
Good luck with that room!
This may be a silly question, but here goes. Do you, by any chance, know if the current military resort discount will extend into 2021 like the tickets? If not, do you foresee Disney announcing their military discounts this week or next like they usually do in September? I know these are uncertain times, but Disney has to have some kind of plans for 2021 if they want people to visit, which I’m sure they do. I heard they’re planning on reopening one of the water parks in March (via Tom Bricker with the Disney Tourist Blog) so Disney must have some idea what they’re expecting next spring.
Hi there Peg,
That’s the thing, this year is so bonkers…
I feel that there will be a discount offered, just not sure if it will be around the usual time (in about a week).
They are following what they did post 9/11. Offering discounts to residents of states within driving distance first. As people return to feeling comfortable flying, the nationwide discounts will follow.
Tom is local (now) and usually has his fingertip on the pulse pretty well.
