The Walt Disney World Wilderness Lodge is a joint property. It is both a Disney World Resort and a Disney Vacation Club property.

Note: This Walt Disney World Resort has a co-located DVC section.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

There are two buildings and a collection of cabins along the lakefront. The original main building, the Wilderness Lodge has been divided into regular guest rooms and DVC wings, the DVC wing being called Cooper Creek Villas. The newer building, originally the only DVC rooms in the resort is called Boulder Ridge Villas. Then there is a collection of new cabins along the lakeside which are DVC properties called the Cascade Cabins.

All major common areas (front desk/bellhop services, dining, and merchandise) are in the original main building.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Lobby

The look and feel of the Wilderness Lodge was inspired by national-park lodges of the early 20th century. There is lots of stonework and exposed timber. The lobby soars eight stories and has huge totem poles and a stone fireplace, which represent the various levels of the Grand Canyon strata as it rises through the lobby.

Guest Rooms

At the Wilderness Lodge standard rooms offer 2 queen beds (a crib may be requested for children under 3). The Deluxe Resorts all have room entry doors from an interior hallway. Wilderness Lodge rooms are larger that the Moderate rooms at 344 square feet.

The Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodges are sometimes referred to as Moderate Plus or Deluxe Minus, due to their room size and price (other Deluxes are bigger and more expensive).

Deluxe Resorts offer a table and two chairs or a desk and chair, dresser, TV, small fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and small safe. The bathroom proper is separated from the double sink vanity area.

The majority of the Lodge’s rooms are all rustic in feel and some offer bunk beds in place of a second queen.

Our Thoughts

MDT Approved

This Disney Resort Hotel is a Military Disney Tips Approved Resort!

The Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodges are the most economical of the Deluxe Resorts. This is due to their remoteness and total reliance on Disney bus transportation to all points on property versus the options other Deluxe Resorts have (Monorail, boat, walking).

We just love the expansive lobby! It is so beautiful at Christmas time.

The new Geyser Point is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and light snack.

I love taking the boat from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom, The Contemporary or to Fort Wilderness. The boats are nearly as relaxing as the hotel, once the wait is over.
