A breezy waterfront escape where modern island design meets classic Polynesian storytelling.

Wailulu Bar & Grill feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like discovering a relaxed shoreline retreat tucked along the Seven Seas Lagoon. Located at the new Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower, this dining spot blends contemporary island styling with the laid-back storytelling atmosphere guests expect from Disney’s Polynesian — making it appealing whether you’re stopping in for a full meal or simply settling into the bar area with a drink and lagoon breeze.

Unlike many Disney resort restaurants that lean heavily on themed nostalgia, Wailulu presents something different: a polished, airy space grounded in texture, light, and location. It’s the kind of place where your experience is shaped just as much by where you sit — indoors, outdoors, or at the bar — as by what’s on your plate.

Location

Wailulu Bar & Grill is located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort within the Island Tower expansion area, positioned along the waterfront facing the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Guests arriving from the Great Ceremonial House will take a short walk toward the tower, where the restaurant sits at ground level with direct access from the outdoor promenade. It’s convenient for Polynesian guests, but also easy to reach via Monorail or boat transportation for visitors staying elsewhere at Walt Disney World.

Because of its placement along the water, the setting itself becomes part of the experience — especially during sunset or evening hours when lighting and reflections across the lagoon enhance the ambiance.

Ambiance

Wailulu’s atmosphere is where this location truly shines, and it’s worth slowing down to appreciate the layers Disney Imagineers built into the space.

The VIew

Inside, the dining room is bright, open, and contemporary, drawing from Polynesian inspiration without feeling themed or kitschy. Natural woods, woven textures, and organic shapes give the room warmth, while expansive windows pull in sunlight and water views. The indoor space flows directly toward the outdoors, creating a seamless connection between climate-controlled comfort and open-air relaxation.

Step outside and the tone shifts. The patio area captures the breezy, unhurried spirit of the resort — ceiling fans turning overhead, water in view, and the distant sounds of boats and monorails becoming part of the background soundtrack. These outdoor spaces are also a wonderful location to watch Magic Kingdom fireworks at night, with the show soundtrack piped into the area, making it an unexpectedly strong viewing option without being inside the park.

The bar area delivers a slightly different energy. Seating includes both stools and nearby tables, and it maintains a more social, casual rhythm. Guests drift in for drinks, conversation, or small bites without reservations, creating a natural contrast to the structured pace of the dining room. It’s a great option if you’re resort-hopping or looking for a spontaneous stop rather than planning ahead.

Across all spaces, the storytelling isn’t loud — it’s atmospheric. Wailulu leans on materials, lighting, and location to evoke the islands rather than overt narrative elements, making it feel mature, relaxing, and distinctly Polynesian Deluxe.

Menu

The offerings here reflect the setting — approachable island-influenced fare rather than overly adventurous experimentation. It’s designed to complement the environment rather than compete with it.

Teriyaki Chicken Sliders

Breakfast Update:
As of this month, the previous table-service breakfast has been replaced by a grab-and-go option. Guests looking for a sit-down morning experience should plan accordingly, as traditional breakfast service is no longer available.

Lunch and Dinner:
Table-service meals are available for both lunch and dinner, featuring a mix of fresh, tropical-inspired dishes and familiar crowd-pleasers. The menu is broad enough to appeal to families while still reflecting regional influence through flavors and presentation.

Musubi

Bar Service:
The bar offers drinks and food options without reservations. This makes it one of the more flexible dining experiences at the resort — ideal for mid-afternoon breaks, evening cocktails, or resort-hopping stops. Because seating is first-come, first-served, timing and crowd levels will affect availability.

Hibiscus Margarita-and Banana Old Fashioned

Reservations

Advance Dining Reservations are required for table-service lunch and dinner and should be secured through the My Disney Experience app when possible, especially during busy travel seasons.

Chocolate Cake

Bar seating — including stools and surrounding tables — remains walk-up only and does not require reservations. This split structure gives guests flexibility depending on how planned or spontaneous they want their dining experience to be.

Wrap-Up

Wailulu Bar & Grill adds a modern, atmospheric dining option to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that prioritizes setting as much as cuisine. Whether you’re enjoying lagoon views from the patio, relaxing indoors amid island textures, or grabbing a drink at the bar, the environment itself becomes a central part of the experience.

For military families staying at Shades of Green or visiting via transportation, this can be an appealing resort-hop dining stop — particularly if you’re already exploring the Monorail loop.

Have you visited Wailulu yet — and did you settle into the dining room or gravitate toward the bar atmosphere? Share your experience below so other military families can benefit from your insight.

I usually don’t comment but here I go. Nice of the Disney People to mention Military families to hop off the Monorail loop to stop and have lunch, dinner or drinks at this restaurant, especially after taking away a walkway for us to hop on the monorail in the first place. Terrible, They should always consider Military families first. so upset with them.
