Most Walt Disney World vacations move quickly.
There are early mornings, Lightning Lane return times, dining reservations, transportation decisions, and the feeling that you should always be heading somewhere.
Sangria University at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort was intentionally different.
Tracy and I spent a casual morning at the resort, enjoyed a late breakfast, and then took the elevator to the top of Gran Destino Tower for an afternoon of sangria, appetizers, stories, and some surprisingly useful instruction.
We had talked about trying Sangria University for years because Tracy really enjoys sangria. When we decided to spend part of our June 2026 trip at Coronado Springs, it finally seemed like the right opportunity.
We expected to enjoy it. We didn’t expect it to become one of the highlights of our entire Coronado Springs stay.
Our quick verdict: Sangria University is a fun, laid-back experience and an excellent addition to a non-park day, couples’ trip, or adults-focused Walt Disney World vacation. At $59 per person during our visit, it was also one of the best values we have found among Disney’s separately priced experiences.
What Is Sangria University?
Sangria University is a tasting and sangria-making class held inside Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
The experience is offered only on Saturdays and Sundays, with two sessions each day at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Sangria University introduces guests to the history and basic components of sangria, explains the four house varieties served at Toledo and Three Bridges Bar and Grill, and concludes with each guest creating a personal sangria from a menu of wines, liqueurs, juices, purées, syrups, and garnishes.
We chose the 1:30 p.m. session so we could enjoy a late breakfast before beginning five full-sized drinks. That was a very good decision.

Location
Sangria University is held at Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
If you are arriving by rideshare or Minnie Van, drop-off is at the Gran Destino Tower porte cochère. Guests using Disney transportation arrive near the resort lobby, and complimentary parking is available in the nearby resort lots for guests with a confirmed dining or experience reservation.
Once inside Gran Destino Tower, take the elevator to the top floor. Toledo is easy to find after exiting the elevator.
Because we were staying at Coronado Springs, transportation was not part of our planning. We simply returned to Gran Destino Tower after breakfast and went upstairs.

How We Planned It
We booked both our Coronado Springs stay and Sangria University approximately three weeks before the trip. The reservation was easy to find and book online.
Because our session began at 1:30 p.m., we initially made a lunch reservation at Rix Sports Bar & Grill. At the last minute, we changed the meal to a late breakfast instead.
That worked extremely well.
We were not rushed in the morning, we had eaten before the class, and the timing left the remainder of the afternoon open. It felt like a genuine resort day instead of another scheduled activity squeezed between park plans.
How We Planned It
We chose the 1:30 p.m. session, enjoyed a late breakfast beforehand, and treated Sangria University as the centerpiece of a non-park day.
That gave us a relaxed morning, kept us from drinking on an empty stomach, and left time afterward to enjoy Coronado Springs without rushing to another reservation.
Checking In for Sangria University
Disney asks guests to arrive approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled start. We reached Toledo at about 1:18 p.m. for our 1:30 reservation.
There were only three or four parties ahead of us at the podium. After checking in, we were taken directly to our table.
Each party had its own table based on the size of the group. Sangria University was not arranged as one large communal class where guests had to sit with strangers.
Tracy and I received a table for two beside the windows overlooking the rear of Coronado Springs, including Lago Dorado and Three Bridges Bar and Grill.
There appeared to be approximately 35 people in the class, including couples and larger groups. There were about 9 couples and 5 groups of varied size during our session, but the individual tables kept the experience comfortable and personal.
Toledo Is Spectacular During the Day
I had previously eaten dinner at Toledo several times. At night, it is dim, cozy, classy, and romantic.
The restaurant features red-hued stained-glass ceiling panels, decorative scrollwork, large trees within the dining room, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows along the outer walls.
During the day, it felt like a different restaurant.
The natural light made the room feel open and spacious, and the elevated views across Coronado Springs were even more impressive than we expected. Seeing Toledo fully illuminated was one of the first surprises of the afternoon.
The restaurant itself became part of the experience rather than simply the room where the class happened.
Four Full-Sized Sangrias Were Waiting at Our Table
When we sat down, four sangrias were already arranged in front of each of us.
These were not small tasting pours. Each one was a regular-sized drink.
A printed placemat beneath the glasses identified the four varieties and described their primary flavor profiles. We also received a long bartender’s spoon for stirring the sangrias before tasting them.
| Sangria | Flavor Description |
| Sparkling | Sweet and smooth, with peach, lemon, and lime |
| White | Light and crisp, with orange and passion fruit |
| Rosé | Sweet and tart, with mango, pear, and citrus |
| Red | Classic and robust, with strong orange flavors |
The four sangrias tasted substantially different from one another. This was not a flight in which the drinks blended together after the first couple of tastes.
The white sangria was my favorite of the prepared varieties. Its lighter, crisper flavor was closest to what I discovered I enjoy in a sangria.
That was another surprise: I went into the experience thinking I was not much of a sangria fan. By the end, I realized I had simply not found the right sangria.
It Felt Like a Class, but It Was Never Stuffy
Our instructor and assistant instructor were managers from Three Bridges Bar and Grill. They alternate roles during different Sangria University sessions.
The lead instructor handled most of the presentation using a handheld microphone. She discussed the background of sangria, explained the drinks in front of us, shared personal stories, and added jokes and humorous observations throughout the class.
The assistant circulated around the restaurant, spoke with guests individually, answered questions, and helped with the custom sangrias. Two or three additional servers assisted during the experience.
The class was educational, interactive, and fun, but it was not a party atmosphere. Guests remained at their own tables and did not mingle extensively with other groups.
That balance worked well. We learned quite a few things without feeling like we were attending a formal lecture.
The only minor issue was the sound. The microphone helped, but Toledo is a large room, and the instructor could occasionally be difficult to hear. A little more volume would have made the presentation easier to follow from every table.
The Appetizer Was Simple but Excellent
Each table received a large basket of freshly made tortilla chips accompanied by guacamole and salsa.
This was described as a light appetizer, and that is accurate. It was not enough to replace a full meal, but it was the right amount of food to enjoy while sampling the sangrias.
The chips, guacamole, and salsa were all excellent. Nothing felt like an afterthought added merely because alcohol was being served.
We were still glad we had eaten breakfast before the class. Five full-sized drinks over approximately 90 minutes is very different from receiving five small tasting samples.
Then We Created Our Own Sangrias
After tasting and learning about the four house sangrias, each guest created a fifth drink.
The custom menu allowed us to choose one item from each of four categories:
- One wine
- One liqueur
- One nonalcoholic juice, purée, or syrup
- One garnish
The wine choices included sparkling cava, rosé, white, and red.
The liqueur menu offered choices including Aperol, apricot brandy, blackberry brandy, banana liqueur, peach schnapps, triple sec, white crème de cacao, Licor 43, Rockey’s Botanical, and St-Germain Elderflower.
Nonalcoholic additions included orange, cranberry, lemon, and lime juices; blackberry, passion fruit, and strawberry purées; and orange-saffron or simple syrup.
Garnish choices included lemon, lime, orange, blackberry, mint, pineapple, raspberry, and strawberry.
Guests could ask the instructors whether their planned ingredients would work together or request advice before making a final choice.
Our Custom Sangrias
I chose:
- White wine
- Triple sec
- Passion fruit purée
- Strawberry garnish
Tracy chose:
- Rosé wine
- St-Germain Elderflower
- Blackberry purée
- Lemon garnish
We both loved what we created.
The make-your-own portion was more than a novelty at the end of the class. It allowed us to use what we had learned, ask questions, and discover which combinations we preferred.
Why Sangria University Is One of Disney’s Best Values
The value of Sangria University was much better than I expected.
At $59 per person during our visit, each guest received:
- Four full-sized house sangrias
- One full-sized custom sangria
- Chips, salsa, and guacamole
- Approximately 90 minutes of instruction and interaction
- A novelty diploma and photo opportunity
Five drinks is plenty. There were no refills, but none were needed.
For comparison, ordering individual specialty drinks at a Walt Disney World restaurant or lounge can quickly approach or exceed the entire cost of this class. Sangria University also included the appetizer, instruction, setting, and opportunity to make a custom drink.
Sixty dollars for five regular-sized drinks, an appetizer, and the instruction is a steal at Disney.
This was not merely fairly priced. We considered it a great value.
A Fun Finish to the Class
Before leaving, guests could take photos with handheld picture frames displaying Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Sangria University names.
We were also presented with signed Sangria University diplomas printed on heavy cardstock.
The diplomas are definitely novelty keepsakes rather than serious credentials, but they were nicely made and provided a fun finishing touch.
We began taking photos as we left at approximately 2:53 p.m., meaning the entire experience ran almost exactly 90 minutes from its scheduled 1:30 start.
What Surprised Us Most
Several parts of Sangria University exceeded our expectations.
Toledo Was Even More Beautiful During the Day
I already liked Toledo at night, but the daylight, large windows, and elevated resort views made the restaurant feel completely different.
The Experience Was Genuinely Educational
We did not simply sit down and drink five sangrias. We learned about how the drinks were constructed, how different ingredients changed the flavor, and how to make better choices when creating our own.
I Discovered That I Like Sangria
I had assumed sangria simply was not one of my preferred drinks. The class showed me that the style and ingredients make an enormous difference.
It Was More Fun Than We Expected
Afterward, Tracy said she could not get over how fun it was.
That reaction sums up the afternoon. We expected the drinks to be good, but the combination of the setting, stories, interaction, and custom sangria made the entire experience memorable.
When Should You Schedule Sangria University?
Because Sangria University is offered only twice per day on Saturdays and Sundays, deciding where it fits into your vacation requires more planning than simply deciding whether you enjoy sangria.
Resort Day: Our First Choice
A non-park resort day is the best time to attend Sangria University.
You can enjoy a relaxed morning, eat before the class, attend the afternoon session, and continue exploring Coronado Springs afterward. You also avoid having five drinks and then attempting to return to an active park schedule.
Mid-Trip Break: An Excellent Option
Sangria University also works well as the centerpiece of a mid-trip break.
After several busy park days, spending an afternoon seated in an air-conditioned restaurant overlooking Coronado Springs can provide a needed change of pace.
Date Afternoon: Absolutely
This is an excellent date activity for couples. The atmosphere is polished without being overly formal, and each party receives its own table.
It could also work well for an anniversary trip, honeymoon, adult family trip, friends’ trip, or adults-focused weekend.
Arrival Day: We Would Be Very Careful
I would not schedule Sangria University on an arrival day involving air travel.
The first session begins at 11 a.m., and Disney asks guests to arrive approximately 15 minutes early. Realistically, you should plan to be at Coronado Springs by about 10 a.m. That allows time for transportation delays, finding Gran Destino Tower, parking or unloading, using the restroom, and reaching Toledo without beginning the experience already stressed.
The 1:30 p.m. session provides more flexibility, but airline delays, baggage issues, and ground transportation can still interfere with the reservation. Sangria University runs only twice per day on Saturdays and Sundays, so missing your scheduled session could mean missing the experience entirely.
It could work on an arrival day if you are driving and expect to reach Walt Disney World several hours before the reservation. For guests flying into Orlando, I would schedule it for another day.
Departure Day: Only With a Late Pickup
Sangria University can work on a departure day, but only if your transportation schedule leaves plenty of time.
The 11 a.m. session should conclude around 12:30 p.m. Even then, I would not schedule an airport pickup immediately afterward. You need time to leave Toledo, return to your room or luggage storage, collect your belongings, and reach the pickup location.
The 1:30 p.m. session should conclude around 3 p.m. Based on our experience, I would not schedule a resort pickup before approximately 4 p.m. A later pickup would be even more comfortable.
You also need to account for the five full-sized alcoholic drinks. Sangria University is not a good departure-day choice if you will be driving afterward or rushing directly from the class to the airport.
For most guests, a resort day or mid-trip break remains the better fit.
Rainy Day: Good Experience, Difficult Last-Minute Strategy
Because the class is held indoors, it sounds like a great rainy-day activity.
The challenge is availability. Sangria University requires advance reservations and can fill up ahead of time. It is better to book it as part of your vacation plan than to wait for rain and hope a same-day reservation appears.

Who Should Book Sangria University?
Sangria University is an especially good fit for:
- Couples
- Friends traveling together
- Anniversary and honeymoon trips
- Adult family groups
- Adults-only Walt Disney World trips
- Guests planning a non-park resort day
- Guests who enjoy wine, cocktails, or food-and-beverage experiences
- People interested in trying an activity beyond the theme parks
You do not need to consider yourself a sangria expert. I did not even consider myself much of a sangria fan before the class.
Being slightly interested is enough.
Who Might Want to Skip It?
Sangria University will not fit every vacation.
I would skip it if:
- You do not enjoy wine, cocktails, or tasting experiences.
- Your vacation is short and every available day is devoted to the theme parks.
- You need to drive shortly after the class.
- You are looking for a high-energy party rather than a seated educational experience.
- You would be attending alone and are uncomfortable spending the class at a table by yourself.
Solo travelers are welcome, but this is one experience I think is more enjoyable when shared with a spouse, family member, or friend.
Can Children Attend Sangria University?
No children attended our particular session, but our instructor explained that younger guests do sometimes participate.
Disney provides nonalcoholic beverages for guests under 21. They must attend with a guest who is at least 21, and the full experience price still applies.
That could work for an older teenager who is interested in food and beverage experiences, but this would not be my first recommendation for most children. The class is primarily designed around sangria, wine, and creating an alcoholic drink.
How We Would Do It Again
We would book the 1:30 p.m. session again.
We would have a leisurely breakfast or early lunch beforehand, attend Sangria University, and leave the rest of the afternoon unscheduled.
We would also pair it with a visit to Three Bridges Bar and Grill.
Three Bridges sits in the middle of Lago Dorado and is one of the best places at Coronado Springs to continue enjoying the resort atmosphere. After five sangrias, we would not immediately order another round of drinks, but an early dinner or shared appetizer beside the lake would be a relaxing way to finish the day.
We are already considering attending Sangria University again during a future trip.

Is Sangria University Worth It Compared to Other Disney Enchanting Extras?
We have also experienced the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, a private fireworks cruise, and the nighttime Starlight Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I would not try to rank Sangria University directly against them.
They are all completely different experiences designed for different interests and different moments in a vacation. The tours provide behind-the-scenes access and Disney history. A fireworks cruise creates a private special occasion. The safari offers a unique animal experience.
Sangria University offers a relaxing, social, food-and-beverage experience.
What they have in common is that Disney’s separately priced experiences tend to be well organized, memorable, and professionally presented. Sangria University continued that pattern.
Steve Says
The best reason to attend Sangria University is that it is a fun, laid-back experience that is perfect for a non-park day.
For anyone who is even slightly interested, I would say do it. You will not be sorry.
Is Sangria University Difficult to Book?
We booked about three weeks in advance and had no trouble getting reservations. However, Sangria University only runs on Saturdays and Sundays with two sessions each day, so availability is naturally limited compared to many Disney dining reservations. If you know you want to experience it, I wouldn’t wait until the last minute.
Steve’s Final Recommendation
Sangria University was one of the highlights of our Coronado Springs stay.
It was not only the drinks. It was the opportunity to slow down, sit beside the windows at Toledo, enjoy the resort views, learn something new, laugh together, and create a shared vacation memory without entering a theme park.
The experience was professionally presented, relaxed, educational, and much more fun than we anticipated. The five full-sized sangrias, appetizer, custom drink, instruction, and setting also made the $59 price we paid feel like an exceptional value by Walt Disney World standards.
Sangria University is not something I would squeeze into an already crowded park day. I would make it the centerpiece of a resort day or adults-focused afternoon and allow time afterward to enjoy Coronado Springs.
Tracy and I would absolutely do it again.
Have You Attended Sangria University?
I’d love to hear about your experience.
Did you have a favorite sangria? Which custom combination did you create? Did you attend the 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. session, and would you do it again?
If you’re considering Sangria University and still have questions, leave those in the comments too. I’ll be happy to answer them and help you decide if it’s a good fit for your Walt Disney World vacation.
