Early Experiences With the 2026 Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket
The 2026 Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket officially became usable on January 1, 2026. That means we’re only a few days into real-world use—but already, patterns are emerging.
2026 Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket
If you’ve seen it referred to online as a Disney military pass, military annual pass, or salute pass, you’re not alone. Much of the early chatter isn’t about riding attractions yet—it’s about activation, expectations, and confusion around what this ticket actually is.
Here’s what military families are experiencing so far.
1. The Naming Confusion Is Real—and Widespread
Even just days in, most confusion stems from what people are calling the ticket.
Across Reddit, Facebook groups, and Disney-focused forums, we’re seeing:
- Disney military pass
- Military annual pass
- Salute pass or annual salute pass
None of those are the official name, and more importantly, they shape expectations. Many users assume this ticket works exactly like a Walt Disney World Annual Pass—and that’s where problems start.
2. “Is This an Annual Pass?” Is the #1 Question
By far the most common early discussion point is whether this ticket includes Annual Pass–style perks, especially:
- Is there free or discounted parking
- Are there merchandise discounts
- Are there dining discounts
So far, the expectation mismatch—not park entry itself—is driving frustration. Users are discovering that while the ticket allows unlimited visits during its valid window (with park reservations), it does not include these Annual Pass benefits.
This is especially important for local or frequent-visit families who are doing the math and realizing parking costs may change the value equation.
Is This an Annual Pass? Side-by-Side Comparison
| Feature | 2026 Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket | Walt Disney World Annual Passes |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Military promotional ticket with repeat visits | Annual Pass program |
| Valid use period | January 1, 2026 – December 18, 2026 | Typically 1 year from activation |
| Blockout dates | March 29 – April 11, 2026 November 22 – November 28, 2026 |
Varies by pass tier |
| Park reservations | Required | Required in most situations |
| Standard parking | Not included | Included |
| Dining & merchandise discounts | Not included as a ticket benefit | Included as Passholder perks |
3. Activation Is the First Real “In-Person” Hurdle
Most early experiences are about activation, not park touring.
Common themes showing up repeatedly include:
- Tickets can be linked in My Disney Experience before arrival
- Activation must be done in person
- The eligible service member (or qualifying spouse) must be present
Note: that Walt Disney World shared that there would be an additional ID check as you scanned into your first theme park in 2026. However, early reports from on scene indicate that this is not happening!
We’re also seeing repeated attempts to “work around” this—friends buying tickets for others, sponsors not traveling, or plans to activate without the eligible member present. Those approaches are not allowed by Disney’s rules!
Bottom line: if the eligible sponsor isn’t traveling, this ticket is probably not the right fit.
4. Park Reservations Are Catching People Off Guard
Another surprise for some guests is that park reservations are still required for this ticket type.
Because many standard dated tickets no longer require reservations, some guests assumed the same would apply here. That assumption is proving incorrect, and it’s showing up as a recurring early-use friction point.
5. Where People Are Buying It (and Why Some Can’t Find It)
We’re seeing mild but consistent confusion around where to purchase the ticket, especially due to:
- MWR/ITT holiday closures
- Differences between base offices
- Expectations that the ticket would appear everywhere Disney tickets are sold
Some MWR offices are also emphasizing rules like “not giftable” and “must activate in person,” which is helping—but only if families see those notes before planning.
The Big Picture After 4 Days
So far, there’s no widespread failure of the ticket—but there is widespread misunderstanding.
Right now:
- Most issues are procedural, not operational
- Guest frustration usually comes from assumptions, not denial of entry
- The biggest gap is between what people think they bought and what the ticket actually includes
That’s normal for a brand-new product—especially one that behaves almost, but not quite, like something people already understand.
Final Thought
As more families actually start using this ticket for repeat visits, we’ll begin to see reports about ease of entry, reservation availability, and long-term value.
For now, the most important thing military families can do is understand what this ticket is—and what it is not before building plans around it.
We’ll continue monitoring real-world experiences and update this post as patterns become clearer.

The fact that Disney is still requiring park reservations this many years after COVID is ridiculous. Not sure who forgot how to run the parks, I’ve been going since I was a child in the 70s and there was never an issue with park capacity no matter how full it got. Not sure why Disney is trying to inflate their numbers but they need to put someone competent back in charge.
I am still confused on who can purchase these tickets. My husband is a veteran but not a retired veteran. Can he still purchase these ticket?
Hi Jacque,
Unfortunately, the Disney Armed Forces Salute is just for current and retired military members.
However there are other discounts for Veterans, see this link:

Will the Disneyland Resort have the same promotional tickets?
Hi John,
No, sorry the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket is only available at WDW. The same old Salute Tickets are still available at Disneyland though.
My husband and I purchased the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute ticket and I used it the first time this past Friday, January 2nd. We purchased at the guest relations at Disney Springs since we are local and the attendant linked it to my Disney Experience account. No issues and am excited Disney is offering this option.
As always, thank you for the detailed information you provide, because of your page, we knew exactly what we were signing up for and how it would work. 🙂
Thanks, Dawn, my pleasure.
Purchased the celebrate America tickets for my daughter and mother for a surprise trip. We are staying on property for 7 days and I was surprised, and disappointed, to find out you can only make 5 park reservations even with an on property resort reservation. My wife and I have annual passes and they are limited to 5 days without a resort reservation, but allow for length of stay with an on property reservation. This is something to keep in mind for anyone planning to take a longer trip on the new tickets. Park reservations may not be available only a few days out.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the intel!!!
Wow, this is surprising and concerning. I’d assumed that just like my AP, those with the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket would be able to make reservations for the first ten days , just like any other Disney Resort restoration with APs or tickets.
This could present serious challenges during busy times when individual park reserve actions do fill up and even cause issues for high ly desired Lightning Lanes towards the end of the trip.
Let’s hope this is an oversight that will be addressed.
I’d recommend that you call WDW to request assistance and or complain!
Hi Steve, I did call before posting and they told me the tickets could only allow 5 park day reservations regardless of length of stay. The cast member did seem new and uncertain but she did put me on hold to ask her ticketing team. That said maybe I will call back and see if I can get a different answer.
Hey Chris,
Someone posted on my Facebook post that they called Disney and they added their 6th through 10th day reservations for them.
I just completed our first reservation for May at Fort Wilderness Camp Ground for two weeks. I will purchase the new Military ticket then at shades of green. We also have nearly the entire month of October booked at the Camp ground as well. While we were able to get the Military discount for the first time at the camp ground because it was under 15 days we were not able to get a Military Discount for the October booking because of that. As for only making the 5 day park reservation I am not sure how we will handle that situation. I hope we get more information on that soon Steve. Thanks for all the information you put out on this site. It is just a trove of help for so many people.
Thanks so much Terry! The long stays sound awesome.
Once again great information and help Steve. I enjoy reading your articles and how much information they have. I will be making several trips to Disney World in May and will be going to shades of green to purchase our tickets and activating them at Disney Springs.
Thanks Terry!
I just love working on the site and helping our community in some small way.
