People are always on the hunt for the best souvenirs from the most Magical Place on Earth, but what if we told you that there are even some souvenirs that you can get for FREE! Today we’re talking about the Clean Plate Club over at the 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

50’s Prime Time Cafe

Take a step back in time in your Aunt’s kitchen for a good old fashioned family meal with stick-to-your-ribs food. The restaurant is segmented into different kitchens all decorated with authentic retro decor. Some tables even have a tiny black and white television playing clips from wholesome family classics!

Get Ready for Antics!

Step right into the backstory as soon as you get seated. Your waitress is your “cousin” and he or she will poke fun at you, most often the adults in your party. You will be asked publicly if you washed your hands when you went to the bathroom, told to keep your elbows off the table, and let’s talk about their deal with vegetables…

Like classic American family meals, a plate consists of a meat, a potato, and a vegetable, and you better eat all of your vegetables! Your “cousin” will give you grief about your peas and carrots, but if he or she is especially sassy, then you can expect to see those peas and carrots appear in your ice cream sundae at dessert!

What is the Clean Plate Club?

Momma always taught us to clean our plate before we left the table, especially when we wanted dessert. Your “cousin” also really wants you to clean your plate. We don’t want to disrespect Auntie who’s been slaving away in the kitchen!

If there is food left behind, you can expect a tsk, tsk, tsk, but if you clean your plate like a good boy or girl, then you get to the official entrance into the Clean Plate Club.

Your cousin will love on you, coo over your accomplishments, pinch your cheeks, and slap you with a Clean Plate Club sticker!

You can’t buy these stickers! You can only earn them by kissing up to your “cousins”.

We have even received more than one sticker! When a member of our party finished EVERYONE’S plates, he got all of the praise and stickers representing all of the plates he finished.

But… if there’s excuses about your plate, things go the other way. A member of our party at a separate meal received the coveted sticker, but then his “cousin” noticed some left over on his plate. When he explained that it was just fat his “cousin” huffed, ripped half of his sticker off and stormed away.

If you just want to watch…

We at Military Disney Tips love the antics at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, but maybe you just want to watch it all like a live show. No problem!

If you just want to watch, then tell the hostess as you are being seated and then you will enjoy a traditional restaurant experience with prime people watching.
