Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans are able to get military discounts on Mobility Scooters (ECVs) Rentals for their vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Walt Disney World rents scooters, but only in the theme parks, for use in the parks!
If you’ll be needing one for your whole vacation you will need to rent from an independent company. You will also find that these companies are comparatively cheaper than Disney.
The scooter rental company that Military Disney Tips recommends is Amusement Park Rentals.
They serve all hotels in the Central Florida Attraction Area. So you can use this service at any Walt Disney World resort!
They proudly offer a 10% military discount. You can reserve on their website using the 10MILITARY discount code.
Their prices are reasonable, unlike Disney Worlds and you’ll have the scooter 24/7.
The Disney World Company also rents Wheel Chairs and ECVs at their theme parks and Downtown Disney for the following prices:
- Wheelchairs are $12.00 per day in all four theme parks
- Wheelchairs are $12.00 per day at Disney Springs plus a $100.00 refundable deposit
- ECVs (Scooters) are $50.00 per day at the four theme parks plus a $20.00 refundable deposit
- ECVs (Scooters) are $50.00 per day at Disney Springs plus a $100.00 refundable deposit
Note: You must first get to the theme park in order to rent Disney’s ECVs.

Steve – Any word on when we might expect an announcement for 2016 room and ticket discounts? we have room reservations on 6 Jan 2016 and have been waiting to hopefully solidify a mil discount. Our local MWR gal thinks late Nov….eeeks…she cant be correct….can she? thanks for keeping us posted
Funny thing is we went to WDW first week of Oct 2014 and we had to wait it out till 2015 discounts were announced. Here we go again!
Hey Jan,
I think Late Oct or 1 Nov will be when tickets are available. Perhaps your local rep is confused…
I have not heard anything else from Disney re an announcement date and if I had I couldn’t tell you until the actual date 😉
But I’m hoping to hear something in the 2 to 4 week timeframe. Fingers crossed.
You can rent a wheelchair at any of the Disney parks on a multi-day base of $10 a day (which saves $2 a day doing it individually). While it can’t leave the park, you can still park hop and pick one up at the next park merely by showing your receipt.
If you can walk, but need a wheelchair because you can’t stand or walk for long periods of time (like me), this is worth looking into. The scooter rental companies offer lower prices than Disney on scooters, but I haven’t found one yet that offers a lower price on wheelchairs. Only disadvantage is that with the Disney, you can’t take it to your resort.
Thanks for the info Peg!
I love amusement park rentals! I have used them 3 times now and each time they have been a pleasure to deal with. I forgot to add the military discount once and with quick message to them they added its with no problem at all. Thank you so much for the recommendation.
We purchased Disney Armed Forces salute park hopper tickets from our local base ticket office. At the time we chose not to add the Disney genie plus option but I have since regretted that decision and I’m wondering if there’s a way to purchase the Disney Jeanie plus addition to our tickets prior to our reservation dates? I’ve searched all over and can’t seem to find an answer to this question. Any help you can give would be appreciated! Thank you!
Hi Barb,
Disney Genie+ can be purchased 2 ways.
1. As part of the ticket, either at time of purchase or at a Disney ticket window (at any time prior to using the last day). Both purchase options are for the full unused length of the ticket, even if you have used some days.
2. Or through a My Disney Experience in app purchase day-by-day as desired. You can purchase anytime after midnight (001 hours in l military time) each day that you desire to use the service.
Think carefully about your schedule and if you want to/need to use it every day. Some days you might not want or need to. If so you can just buy for the days you want with the in app purchase.
If you think you want it every day, you can add it when you activate your tickets on arrival.
On my most recent November 2021 trip, we did the in app purchase 2 of our 4 days.
Also remember the Lightning Lane purchases (for the 2 best attractions in each park) are separate and additional purchases and do not require a Genie+ purchase.
Hello,
I have spoken a number of times to the Orlando MWR office and they said that the Disney tickets they sell do not come with the Genie or Genie + add on. I am planning to take the family to Orlando January 2023 and waiting on the new Military Salute tickets.
Hi Kalani,
Yes, several months back Disney World stopped selling Genie+ as part of tickets. You can’t get Genie+ as part of a ticket at all any more. This was an effort to reduce the number of people using it because there were so many people using it that there was little value.
You’ll instead have to purchase it day by day in app, which is what I have always recommended anyway as I do not feel that you need it at every park every day.

Hi Steve,
Appreciate the info and discount for the ECVs. One thing I’ve learned the hard way using them is that you have to be present to meet them and take the ECV if staying at a Disney resort. You also have to be present when returning it. This is a one hour window that you have to be available. My bigger frustration with this is that the confirmation email says you MAY have to be there and not WILL have to be there. The previous company we’ve rented from was about $20 more, but they could drop with bell services. This is something one might want to take into consideration when planning a trip.
Thanks again!
Hi there Zach,
Thanks for the great feedback!
