Shades of Green’s New Tiered Active Duty Discounts for Summer 2025

A major departure from past pricing policies at Disney’s Military Resort

For the first time in its history, Shades of Green is offering a tiered room discount based on active-duty military rank—and it’s a big shift from the norm.

Last month, the resort surprised the military community with a new, very limited discount available only to enlisted members in pay grades E1 through E6. That alone marked a significant change: a rank-specific offer that excluded higher enlisted, all officer ranks, and all of the other non-active eligible customers. Now, the promotion has been completely restructured—and expanded—to include all active-duty personnel in three distinct categories. It still excludes the Guard and Reserve, retirees, spouses, DoD civilians, and other DoD supporters!

Here’s what’s new, what changed, and what it means for your summer vacation planning:

🚨 What’s New: Tiered Active Duty Discounts by Rank

Shades of Green is now offering three separate pricing tiers for active-duty military members, all valid for stays during Summer 2025. Here’s the breakdown:

✅ Active Duty Category 1 – $139 per night

• Eligibility: E1–E6 (Enlisted only)
• Dates: July 1–August 31, 2025
• Room Type: Standard Rooms Only
• Availability: First-come, first-serve

✅ Active Duty Category 2 – $179 per night

• Eligibility: E7–E9 (Senior Enlisted), O1–O3 (Junior Officers), WO1–CW3 (Warrant Officers)
• Dates: August 1–31, 2025
• Room Type: Standard Rooms Only
• Availability: First-come, first-serve

✅ Active Duty Category 3 – $199 per night

• Eligibility: O4–O10 (Senior Officers), CW4–CW5 (Senior Warrant Officers)
• Dates: August 1–31, 2025
• Room Type: Standard Rooms Only
• Availability: First-come, first-serve

These rates cannot be combined with other offers or discounts, and reservations are subject to availability. Like all Shades of Green reservations, a valid Military ID will be required at check-in, and eligibility will be verified at that time.

🔄 What Changed: From E1–E6 Only to a Full Active-Duty Spectrum

The original promotion—announced in early May—was limited to active-duty service members in pay grades E1 through E6, with pricing set at $139 per night. That offer excluded senior enlisted and all officer ranks and applied only to select July and August dates.

This was unprecedented. Historically, Shades of Green has never offered rank-specific pricing outside of their standard year-round rate structure or excluded a huge portion of their customer base! All rooms are already categorized into three pricing tiers (Category 1, 2, and 3), but those rates apply year-round and don’t fluctuate much. Seasonal or promotional discounts—when offered—have always applied to all eligible guests, not specific ranks.

The new summer structure marks the first time they’ve layered promotional pricing on top of the existing category system, offering distinct promotions by rank groupings.

• Promo Code: Use ACTIVE when booking online.
• Phone Booking: Call 888-593-2242 to reserve directly.
• Extra Guests: The discounted rate covers two adults per room. Each additional adult incurs a $15 nightly charge.
• Modifications: Changing your reservation may affect your room rate, so finalize your plans before booking if possible.

🤔 What’s Next?

This rank-based summer promotion may be a test run for future targeted discounts or a one-time event. Either way, it represents a notable departure from the “same rate for all” philosophy that Shades of Green has typically upheld.

If you’re eligible, especially in Category 1, this is a solid deal for a summer Walt Disney World vacation.
