Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a new twist on a typical Disney dark ride!

📍Hollywood Studios | Hollywood Boulevard
Classic Disney meets new century technology in this whimsical attraction located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. The ride takes guests into the story as you become part of the cartoon.
FUN FACT: Did you know that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first attraction featuring Mickey Mouse? Remember what Walt said, “It all started with a mouse.”
Ride

Perfect Picnic
The journey begins with a fun new cartoon short, Perfect Picnic, which sets the stage for the adventure. Thanks to Goofy’s… interesting… driving, guests soon find themselves pulled into the cartoon world.

Cartoon World Entrance
While the ride seems simple and straightforward, new technology, referred to as “trackless technology”, has given this attraction a smoother ride and a real sense of freedom to go with the story. Riders are taken on a wild chase through various cartoon scenes, each filled with vibrant colors, playful animation, and unexpected surprises. (Keep a lookout for Pluto!)

Ride Vehicle
The ride vehicle for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is designed to look like a train, but instead of being a part of one big vehicle, each “train car” operates independently. (Thanks again, trackless technology!)
Ride vehicles are padded bench seats that can comfortably accommodate guests of any shape and size. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also family-friendly with no height requirement.
Lightning Lanes
For guests looking to minimize wait times, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is part of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system at Walt Disney World. By purchasing access to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, guests can skip the standard queue.
We always recommend Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and are happy to say that it is rather easy to snag a Lightning Lane at any time of day for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Height Requirement
There is no height requirement for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, so everyone in the family can join in on the fun!
Rider Swap
Rider Swap is not offered for this attraction. With its gentle ride and whimsical storyline, this is a great choice for families to experience together.
Accessibility
Guests using wheelchairs or ECVs must transfer to the ride vehicle to experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The queue is accessible, and Cast Members are ready to assist with boarding if needed.
What Happened to The Great Movie Ride?
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is located in the iconic Grauman’s Chinese Theater at the center of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a location that used to belong to The Great Movie Ride. The Great Movie Ride took guests through classic scenes from Hollywood’s golden age, featuring audio-animatronic figures and elaborate sets. The Great Movie Ride was a bit of a cult classic, though not popular enough to keep it around. The ride closed in August 2017 to make way for Mickey’s well-deserved first attraction.
