In the whimsical world of EPCOT’s World Showcase Norway stands out as a charming haven for those with a sweet tooth.
📍EPCOT | World Showcase | Norway
Nestled within this Nordic paradise lies a hidden gem that beckons to weary travelers and eager snack-seekers alike: Kringla Bakeri og Kafé.
As you step through the doors, you’re greeted by a delightful array of treats that would make any sweet lover’s heart skip a beat. From traditional Norwegian delights like the iconic school bread to more familiar favorites like cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants, there’s something to tantalize every palate.
What is School Bread??
You might have heard about School Bread when people discuss the Norway Pavilion, but what the heck is it? According to their menu, School Bread is a “Sweet Roll filled with Custard and dipped in Coconut”.
Let’s talk real talk – The School Bread at Kringla Bakeri is basically a yeast dinner roll, much like the rolls at that famous American steakhouse that used to have peanuts all over the floor. Then you take that roll and fill it with a sweet Bavarian cream. Lastly, the roll is dipped in icing like cinnamon roll icing, and then topped in toasted coconut. The School Bread is a love child of all of your carb-filled dreams.
One cannot talk about Kringla Bakeri og KafĂ© without mentioning the pièce de rĂ©sistance: the famous Troll Horn. Resembling the mythical creature from Norwegian folklore, this delightful pastry is as whimsical as it is delicious. With its flaky layers and creamy custard filling, it’s a treat fit for royalty (or hungry park-goers).
Let’s Talk Viking Coffee
And let’s not forget the beverages! Whether you’re in the mood for a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee or a refreshing frozen concoction, Kringla Bakeri og KafĂ© has you covered. Sip your drink of choice as you bask in the Norwegian-inspired ambiance, perhaps even catching a glimpse of the nearby Stave Church or the stunning landscaping.
Kristoff Kaffe
Viking Coffee is served both in hot and a frozen versions. This awesome treat is coffee blended with Bailey’s Irish Cream, coffee liquor, chocolate sauce, and chocolate-coffee crunchies on top. We’re not going to lie to you – we tasted absolutely NO coffee, however we love this drink because it is like an alcoholic milkshake that isn’t too thick or too milky. Get a little buzz, sugar rush, and cool off in the Florida sun with this treat.
Plus, remember that you’re on vacation – Since it is “coffee”, you can drink it in the morning!
What’s in a Name?
When you order a Viking Coffee (hot or frozen) the cast members in the KafĂ© will ask you, “With or without alcohol?” We assume this is due to some repeated past confusion on guests part.
The Kafé does offer both regular hot and frozen coffee. On the menu the hot coffee is called: Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee. And the frozen coffee is called the Kristoff Kaffe, which comes with chocolate sauce and chocolate-coffee crunchies on top. These item are Viking Coffee without alcohol!
The Kristoff Kaffe name came about in late 2022. Prior to that it was called Frozen Coffee.
Stop In for a Treat!
So the next time you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of EPCOT’s Norway pavilion, be sure to make a pit stop at Kringla Bakeri og KafĂ©. Whether you’re craving a sugary pick-me-up or simply seeking a moment of respite from your adventures, this cozy cafĂ© is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. SkĂĄl!
