The Magic Kingdoms Sunshine Tree Terrace

While in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom, Sunshine Tree Terrace is your home for both classic and wild cold treats.

Nope, not Dole Whip! Not exactly, anyway.

Sunshine Tree Terrace is your place to get the famous Citrus Swirl, and is the infamous home to the beloved Disney icon, Orange Bird.

What is a Citrus Swirl?

The now famous Citrus Swirl is a blend of frozen orange juice and vanilla soft serve. The balance of tangy from the orange is balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the vanilla for a perfect cold treat to be the heat.

History of Orange Bird

Orange Bird is a bit of a legend to the Magic Kingdom, and was created by the Florida Citrus Commission to help promote Walt Disney World and specifically, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. There was a full promotion that included a backstory sung by Anita Bryant, but over time Orange Bird began to fade into obscurity as the relationship between Disney and the Florida Citrus Commission parted ways.

On April 17, 2012, Orange Bird made a triumphant return to Sunshine Tree Terrace as the official mascot. Today you will find Orange Bird sprinkled around everywhere! There are treats, ears, sippers, merchandise, and even murals after this adorable character. It’s safe to say that Orange Bird is here to stay!

Floats at Sunshine Tree Terrace

Sometimes when you’re hot you want ice cream but you also want soda, and sometimes you want a little extra. Sunshine Tree Terrace can get you any soda and soft serve float combination you can make up, like Root Beer and vanilla, Fanta and vanilla, or Coke and chocolate, but they also have floats that go above and beyond.

The specialty floats are subject to change, but currently Sunshine Tree Terrace is featuring the I Lava You Float and Sparkling Sunshine. The Sparkling Sunshine float is sparkling apple cider with orange cream soft serve and rimmed with EARidescent sugar. This is a drink that just screams celebration, and while the EARidescent sugar suggests that it might only be here for the 50th Anniversary celebration, we hope it’s here to stay.

The I Lava You Float is all the extra! Themed after the adorable musical short by Pixar, the I Lava You Float is Fanta Strawberry soda with added passion fruit flavor served with a floating swirl of Dole Whip Orange and topped with popping candy. If you’re looking for sweet on top of sweet, then you will love this float!

Other Items at Sunshine Tree Terrace

In addition to the basic soft serve, Sunshine Tree Terrace has been host to some odd items over the years. Currently, you can get Fried Pork and Vegetable Potstickers served with orange sesame sauce. Don’t get us wrong, we’re happy to have a savory snack amongst all of the sugar, but it just seems out of place.

Sunshine Tree Terrace will also see specialty desserts from time to time. In the past there was a little Orange Bird cake that was so cute, but to be honest we weren’t sure how we felt about it since you were literally eating Orange Bird. Specialty desserts at Sunshine Tree Terrace always seem to be a little different from the usual and we look forward to them everytime!

Mobile Order

Mobile Order is available at Sunshine Tree Terrace and we highly recommend taking advantage of this service! The walk up counter here feels very tight because this is an already very tight spot in Adventureland.

Open up your My Disney Experience app and click the little plus sign and select “Order Food” and follow the prompts. Once you use Mobile Order, you’ll never be able to wait in line again!

Editor’s Note: You may not know this, but the Sunshine Tree Terrace and Aloha Isle switched locations! Prior to March 2015 where the Sunshine Tree is now was Aloha Isle and vice a versa. This was done due to the popularity of Dole Whip and the small size if the location where Aloha Isle was that is now the Sunshine Tree.
