Back in 2018, Disney changed the way it allocates Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts. And in 2026, those “variable” discounts continue.
Update for 2026: The Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discount continues for 2026 and the “variable up to” discount model remains in place.
Instead of fixed 30/35/40% discounts, each resort category now has an “up to” maximum percentage that can change depending on travel dates and room availability. This means some dates and room types may receive the full discount, while others may receive a reduced discount — or may not be discounted at all.
Two seasonal discount windows return for 2026:
- Most dates: Up to 25% off Deluxe/DVC, 20% off Moderate, 15% off Value
- Summer (June 1–August 31): Up to 30% off Deluxe/DVC, 25% off Moderate, 20% off Value
Additionally, many premium room types (including Club Level, Suites, Bungalows, and Grand Villas) are excluded again this year.
New for 2026: Disney confirms this Salute room discount can be combined with the Kids Free Dining Plan offer when booked as part of a qualifying Walt Disney Travel Company package.
In the past, from 2009 through 2017, the Disney Armed Forces Salute resort hotel room discounts had always been a set percentage off of the standard rack room rate.
Back then if the discount for your desired resort, room type, and dates was available you would receive 30% off at Disney Value Resorts, 35% off at Disney Moderate Resorts, and 40% off at Disney Deluxe and DVC Resorts.
When we say available in the previous sentence, what we mean is that the military discount was based upon availability by date, resort, and room type. Disney offered the discount when rooms needed to be filled; as available room inventory reached an undisclosed amount, the discount would not be offered. For example, on your desired dates a Standard room at Pop Century might not be eligible for the discount but a Preferred would be—or there might be nothing for your dates at Pop but there would be at All-Star Movies, or you might have to change dates to get the discount at all.
But starting with the 2018 Disney Armed Forces Salute there was a big change—the first change ever for this part of the program.
When the 2018 Disney Armed Forces Salute was released it quickly became apparent that things were not as they used to be. Members of the military community reported receiving discounts lower than they expected—often 5 to 10 percentage points under the old 30/35/40 structure, sometimes even lower (and in a few cases slightly higher). This variable “up to” model continues today, including the 2026 offer windows below.
How the 2026 Room Discounts Work
Instead of publishing a single set percentage for each resort category, Disney now publishes “up to” savings that vary by date range and resort category. In practical terms, if a Salute room discount is offered for your dates/resort/room type, you may receive any value up to the listed maximum for that window—and as availability tightens, the percentage offered can drop, eventually disappearing entirely for those dates and room types.
2026 Eligible Stay Windows & “Up To” Savings (book by December 18, 2026): :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
- January 1 – March 28, 2026; April 12 – May 31, 2026; September 1 – November 21, 2026; November 29 – December 18, 2026
• Up to 25% off at Disney’s Deluxe & Deluxe Villa (DVC) Resorts
• Up to 20% off at Disney’s Moderate Resorts
• Up to 15% off at Disney’s Value Resorts - June 1 – August 31, 2026 (Summer Window)
• Up to 30% off at Disney’s Deluxe & Deluxe Villa (DVC) Resorts
• Up to 25% off at Disney’s Moderate Resorts
• Up to 20% off at Disney’s Value Resorts
Stackable Offer Tip for 2026: Disney is also offering a Kids Free Dining Plan on select 2026 packages, and Disney notes this room discount can be combined with that offer when you add a dining plan for Guests ages 10+ in the same package.

What’s Included, What’s Excluded (2026)
The specific list of eligible resorts spans Value, Moderate, Deluxe, and DVC properties across Walt Disney World. However, Disney excludes certain room types from this offer, including (but not limited to): Cabins at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge; Bungalows, 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom Villas, and Penthouses at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows; Suites at Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villa Resorts; Club Level; and 3-Bedroom Grand Villas. Always confirm current availability when booking. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}
Key Things to Keep in Mind About Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts
- Availability is limited and dynamic. Discounts may not be available for your resort, room type, or dates—and the % off can be lower than the “up to” maximum for that window. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
- Eligibility and ID are required. Valid military ID is checked at check-in; the eligible member or spouse must be staying in the room. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}
- Consider packages and stacking. You can add tickets (and even a dining plan), and for 2026 eligible dates you can stack the Kids Free Dining Plan with this room discount when booked as a package. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}

Steve,
Readers might find this helpful. I was quoted 30% off list price for Art of Animation Family Suite, 30% off for Fort Wilderness Cabins and 25% off Beach Club Standard Room today when I called an October 2021 booking.
Thanks for all the great info
Hi there Holly,
Thanks for sharing the intel!
I was able to book a Copper Creek Studio for less than a Garden Wing room the Contemporary due to the different discounts being offered at each resort. I was looking for the absolute lowest price that I could find on a Magic Kingdom area room based on initial rack rates. If looking for a good price, explore outside what might seem obvious. There might just be a deal lurking.
Wow Sarah,
That’s awesome!
Thanks for sharing the great advise.
Hi Steve,
I was hoping to plan a get-away for my daughter and I in November. After chatting with a cast member and putting in several dates at different resorts, I asked what the rate of the discount was. Evidently, it’s a standard 15% on value, 20% on moderate and 25% for deluxe – then decreases from there, depending on availability. I asked if she was certain about the rates because I could be flexible with both my resort selection and travel dates, but after checking with her manager she assured me that those were the top discounts being offered for the Salute program.
I was slightly disappointed when I heard this. Normally it’s a substantial savings but at the moment, they’re offering the same 20% discount to the general public. If anyone has gotten a better discount this year, please let me know how you did it….
Hi Christy,
Thanks so much for sending in the intel! I always urge people to be extremely cautious in taking anything Disney’s cast relates to them about the company’s military discounts as they are often wrong. They receive zero training, as evidenced by their having to put their heads together to figure out an explanation.
It may very well be that currently (or for Nov) those are the max percentages, but that could be driven by how full they are already, not an actual max.
Since Disney switched to the variable percentage in 2012, percentages have been all over the place. Some folks (very few) have even received better than the old 30,35,40%. Personally I’ve received 45%. It just depends on how booked they are already.
But sadly, sometimes the general public discount might be the better choice, if available.
I just booked for November this year and comparing the military discount vs booking it myself, I only got $80 discount for a 7 nights stay at POR. I was expecting more – like what we used to get. I was advised to keep an eye on their website for discounts though and I can call them anytime, and they will apply it to our room.
Hi Anne,
It’s a roll of the dice anymore as to the military discount amount on your dates.
Do watch for general public discounts for your dates to come out later in the year!
