Every year, one of the most common questions I get from military families planning a Universal Orlando vacation is: Will Universal bring back the Military Freedom Pass for another year?

If you’ve been waiting for news on the 2026 Universal Orlando Resort Military Freedom Pass, the good news is: all signs point to yes!

I’ve been in direct contact with Universal Orlando’s Military Sales team, and my longtime contact there has confirmed that the Freedom Pass will be renewed for 2026. I’ll also be receiving the official press release when it’s issued.

Based on past trends, I expect the announcement to come around Veterans Day, just as it has for the past two years.

What We Know So Far

While Universal hasn’t released the official 2026 details yet, we can make strong predictions based on both last year’s program and consistent patterns going back to the first Freedom Pass in 2021.

In 2025, the Freedom Pass included:

  • 2-Park Freedom Pass: Access to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure
  • 3-Park Freedom Pass: Adds Universal Volcano Bay water park
  • Pricing: Adult $210 (2-Park) / $245 (3-Park), with children’s prices slightly lower
  • Validity: From purchase through December 19, 2025
  • Eligibility: Active Duty, Retired Military, National Guard, Reservists, 100% Disabled Veterans, and DoD Civilians; eligible spouses may also purchase
  • Blockout Dates: A short block around Christmas/New Year and one spring break period
  • Purchase Location: Only through military ticket offices (ITT / ITR / MWR), not at Universal’s front gates
  • Activation Required: Passes had to be activated in person at Universal Orlando before first use

The 2025 Freedom Pass also included access to Epic Universe through a special 1-Day Epic Universe Add-On Ticket. That add-on required that you first activate your Freedom Pass, and then you could purchase a dated 1-day ticket to Epic Universe.

What to Expect for 2026

Universal’s Military Sales team has confirmed that the Freedom Pass will continue for 2026.

What is the Best Way to get from Disney World to Universal Studios?

Here’s what I expect based on that confirmation and the 2025 model:

  • Announcement Timing: Likely around Veterans Day (early to mid-November 2025)
  • Offer Details: We expect two versions again — a 2-Park Freedom Pass and a 3-Park Freedom Pass
  • Included Parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Universal Volcano Bay
  • Epic Universe Access: We expect Universal to continue offering a 1-Day Epic Universe ticket option for Freedom Pass holders, so eligible military families can experience Epic Universe during their trip
  • Eligibility: No major changes are expected to who qualifies (Active Duty, Retired, Guard/Reserve, 100% Disabled Veterans, and DoD Civilians, plus eligible spouses)
  • Activation Requirement: We expect that you will still need to activate the Freedom Pass in person at Universal Orlando before first use
  • Pricing: A small price increase is always possible year to year, but we do not expect a dramatic change from 2025 levels
  • Expiration Date: The 2026 pass will likely be valid until December 19, 2026, following the same pattern as previous years

As in past years, I expect these 2026 passes will not be sold at Universal Orlando ticket windows. You will need to buy them through an eligible U.S. military ticket office (ITT/ITR/MWR, etc.).

Freedom Pass Highlights

The Universal Orlando Military Freedom Pass continues to be one of the best theme park values available to the U.S. military community. Here’s why families love it:

  • Huge Value for a Year: For roughly what many guests pay for a short multi-day ticket, eligible military families get access for most of the year
  • Park-to-Park Access: The Freedom Pass is typically park-to-park, which means you can easily ride the Hogwarts Express between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure (park-to-park access is required for Hogwarts Express)
  • Volcano Bay Option: The 3-Park version usually includes Universal Volcano Bay, Universal’s incredible themed water park
  • Epic Universe Access: Epic Universe is now open, and Universal has been offering a dated 1-day Epic Universe ticket specifically for Freedom Pass holders. We expect that to continue so you can add Epic Universe to your trip
  • Multiple Trips, One Ticket: It’s a great option if you’re stationed in Florida, visiting family nearby, or planning more than one Universal Orlando vacation in the same year

Tips for Military Families

Orlando Florida Navy Tickets and Travel Office Interior

  • Know your eligibility: You must present valid U.S. military or DoD civilian ID to purchase. The eligible service member or eligible spouse will need to be the one who buys the passes, and ID will also be required at activation
  • Buy through your base ticket office: The Freedom Pass is typically sold only through authorized military ticket and travel offices (ITT/ITR/MWR). Do not expect to walk up at Universal and get this deal at the front gate
  • Activate before use: You’ll need to activate the pass at Universal Orlando before your first park day. After activation, you can use it for park entry and (historically) you become eligible to buy the Epic Universe 1-day ticket
  • Check blockout dates before travel: The Freedom Pass usually has very few blockout dates, but major holiday periods (like Christmas to New Year’s) can be restricted. Please review them before locking in airfare and hotel
  • Bundle tickets + hotel: Pair your Freedom Pass with a Universal Orlando vacation package, military-friendly Universal hotel rates, or have an expert do it for you. I recommend Universal Studios Vacations by Jen Knows the Mouse — they specialize in Universal Orlando trips for military families
  • Plan Epic Universe intentionally: Epic Universe access for military is expected to remain a special dated 1-day ticket linked to your activated Freedom Pass. Treat that day like an “event day” on your itinerary so you can be there early and experience as much as possible

FAQ

Will there be a 2026 Universal Orlando Freedom Pass?

Yes. Universal Orlando’s Military Sales team has confirmed that the Freedom Pass will be renewed for 2026. We expect the official details to be announced in early to mid-November 2025, around Veterans Day.

When will the 2026 Freedom Pass go on sale?

Based on previous years, sales should begin in November 2025 immediately after the announcement. That timing has been very consistent.

What is included with the Freedom Pass?

We expect a 2-Park Freedom Pass (Universal Studios Florida + Universal Islands of Adventure) and a 3-Park Freedom Pass (adds Universal Volcano Bay). Freedom Passes are typically park-to-park tickets, which means you can ride the Hogwarts Express between the parks. In 2025, Epic Universe access was offered as a special 1-day ticket option for Freedom Pass holders.

Is Epic Universe included?

Epic Universe is now open. In 2025, Universal offered a 1-day, date-specific Epic Universe ticket that was available only to activated Freedom Pass holders. We expect a similar system for 2026.

Who is eligible to buy the Freedom Pass?

Historically, eligibility has included U.S. Active Duty Military, Retired Military, National Guard, Reservists, 100% Disabled Veterans, and Department of Defense Civilians. Eligible spouses have also been able to purchase.

Where do I buy the Freedom Pass?

Through an eligible U.S. military ticket office such as ITT, ITR, or MWR. These passes are generally not sold at Universal Orlando ticket booths or online to the general public.

Does the Freedom Pass expire?

Yes. The Freedom Pass is typically valid until mid-to-late December of the named year (for example, December 19, 2025 for the 2025 pass). We expect the 2026 version to run until about December 19, 2026. There are usually limited blockout dates around major holidays. Always confirm before travel.

How to Get the 2026 Universal Orlando Freedom Pass

  1. Confirm eligibility: Make sure you are Active Duty, Retired, Guard/Reserve, 100% Disabled Veteran, or DoD Civilian (or the eligible spouse).
  2. Watch for the announcement: Universal typically announces the next year’s Freedom Pass in early to mid-November, near Veterans Day.
  3. Visit your base ticket office: Go to your local ITT/ITR/MWR office and request the Universal Orlando Freedom Pass for 2026 once it’s available.
  4. Buy the pass: Choose between the 2-Park or 3-Park version. Ask about Epic Universe access so you understand how that works for the year.
  5. Activate at Universal: When you arrive in Orlando, you’ll activate your Freedom Pass in person. After activation, you can enter the parks and (historically) you become eligible for the dated 1-day Epic Universe ticket.
  6. Enjoy Universal Orlando: Park hop, ride Hogwarts Express, cool off at Volcano Bay, and plan a dedicated day at Epic Universe.
