This post is part of our Frequently Asked Question Series in the Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket FAQ section.
The Disney’s Armed Forces Salute offers huge savings on theme park tickets and resort rooms to those Service Members who are eligible to participate.
I am a Disney Passholder, do I need to buy a Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket for myself too?
While Disney’s Armed Forces Salute rules do say that the military member or spouse must have their own Salute ticket in order to allow friends and family to also use these tickets, there is an exception for passholders.
Passholders do not need to buy their own salute tickets. They are already paying more for their pass.
I’m Silver passholder (the old Florida Seasonal Pass) and I only buy salute tickets for those going with me, never for myself.
One caveat to this is that Disney holds one ticket out of your 6 ticket limit for the members use. So you will only be able to get Salute tickets for 5 others, which is all you could do if you had to buy your Salute ticket anyway.

Steve–What if the military member had a comp ticket or FL resident ticket or something else? Could he still buy them for family who would be there at the same time and activate them?
Hi Susan,
Yes pass holders don’t need a Salute ticket for themselves. I’m a FL Silver pass holder, I just buy Salute tickets for those with me.
I’m not sure about comp tickets, it’s never come up.
My Navy nephew has a regular ticket that was gifted to him. Can he still buy and activate a military ticket for me?
Hi Gillian,
There are several kinds of military tickets. The best deal the Disney Armed Forces Salute requires the member have a ticket of their own to buy for others. the other kinds do not but give less savings.
