Shades of Green provides Laundry Rooms for guests.
Updated 18 August 2023 – After a month and a half long debacle of closing the laundry rooms in both wings of the hotel, the laundry rooms have finally reopened with new machines. For a long time there had been WiFi connectivity issues (for payment processing) for the old machines due to Shades of Green’s poor WiFi signal that the machines had become mostly unusable.
I hope that these new machines will be up to the task!
The Laundry Rooms
Shades of Green offers 2 laundry rooms for guest use, 1 in each wing of the resort.
The Magnolia Wing room is on the 2nd floor and the Palm one is on the 3rd. Each laundry room offers multiple washers and dryers as well as folding tables and laundry carts. Each room also has vending machines for laundry essentials and snacks/beverages.
Microwaves are also available in the laundry rooms for guest use. These 2 microwaves are the only 2 available for guest use on property; there are none in the guest rooms.
Chairs and a TV are available for your entertainment while waiting.

Each laundry room has soda and snack machines, a TV, microwave, plus chairs to wait on. (There are no microwaves in the rooms, safety you know…)
The last time we used the laundry room at Shades of Green, Dad took the kids to the pool and Mom had some quiet time in the laundry room. Sounds odd but after a hectic morning with the kids in the parks she enjoyed the quite of being by herself with a good book.

Take a Disney Mid-Day Break it’s a Good Time To Use Shades of Green’s Laundry Rooms.
Central Florida can be very hot and muggy in the summer! Almost all Disney planners recommend a mid-day break from the theme parks to go back to the room and recharge your batteries.
We always do this if we are at WDW in the summer!
Some people hate to leave the parks once they are there, but being there from early in the morning until closing has been known to make not only children, but seasoned NCOs cry.
Summertime hours in the parks can run from 8AM the 11PM or later. That’s just too much to take at one time.
So, sometime after having lunch in the park, bail out and head back to your room. Get out of your very sweaty clothes, hit the pool, or just get a nap. I recommend both!
Then, put on dry clothes and head on back to the park. You’ll have a decisive edge on those who have stayed there to tough it out.
The only down side of this strategy is that wearing two full sets of clothes per day you’ll accumulate laundry at an increased rate.
So, unless you packed for a month you’ll need to do laundry sometime during your stay.

I know I enjoyed a nice little break in the laundry room from the family togetherness. (There’s a tv in the room in case you don’t bring a book.) I picked up a small nylon basin from a local EMS store. It’s wonderful for rinsing out a few items. It folds up compact in your suitcase. When I want to use it I just place it in the tub and fill w/ some soapy water. Hand wash the items and hang them out over the balcony chair or shower. For the last trip I had each family member pack a couple of athletic (quick dry tee’s). They wash and dry easily so you can get a several wears out of one shirt during your stay.
Super info Barbara,
The laundry room can be a haven of peace during a hectic theme park day!
We ate in the laundry room twice while we were there last week. Eating out so much was expensive and we weren’t used to eating so much. we packed a few canned dinners (soup/pasta) and just microwaved them and ate right there. It saved us over $100. ☺️
Awesome Tiffany, way to economize!!!
Great idea!!! I hadn’t thought of that 🙂
We are 110% laundry room users, often more than once per trip.
We were just there end of June/early July in the Palm wing for 8 or 9 days, and used the laundry room at least 3x.
During our stay, we also received notice the CC system was down and we had to go downstairs to buy $5 laundry cards (one soap, one wash, one dry) for portions of the week.
The laundry closure email came out right after we returned home. I was wondering if they were losing too much $$ (we only got one CC charge for laundry as far as I can tell – I was thinking the system was probably broken esp since they started selling cards for some days = there should have been at least 2-4 charges unless my husband decided to use a card solely in his name but that would be unusual).
Also, in the Palm wing, at least one washing machine wouldn’t start (someone else we observed having that issue) and one dryer didn’t dry (our issue).
Hopefully, they get it straightened out soon and reopened for people to enjoy!
