    • How To: Make a Reservation at Shades of Green

Making room reservations at Shades of Green, Disney World’s Military Only Resort, is easy.

Shades of Green Resort

Shades of Green is the Armed Forces Recreations Center located right on Walt Disney World property.

When to Make Reservations

Reservations can be made 1 year prior to your desired check in date.

Making reservations this far in advance isn’t always necessary, but there are situations when you must make the this far in advance.

If you want to book a suite you must do so 1 year in advance! Shades of Green has very few suites and they go fast!!!

If you want to visit during peak periods, spring break, Christmas, and holiday weekends you should book a year in advance!

Special Room Requests

It is possible to make special room requests, such as location floor, wing, view, etc. though these requests are no guaranteed. When calling, simply relay your request to the reservationist. If making reservations on line, see below.

How to Make Reservations

You can make reservations at Shades of Green either by phone or internet.

By Phone

To book by phone simply dial their reservations number at (888) 593-2242.

Their hours of operation are:

  • Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday 8 a.m.to 4 p.m.
  • Closed Sundays and all Federal Holidays

On the Internet

Simply go to the Shades of Green website. There is a booking button at the top of all pages on the site.

Clicking the button will open a pop-up window on which you’ll have to check the box indicating that you meet the eligibility requirements to stay at Shades of Green.

This will take you to this page on the Shades of Green website where you can check your dates for availability.

Enter your dates, Shades of Green room price category, and number of adults and kids and click Check Availability.

You’ll then be taken to a page with the availability for your given dates. If rooms are available you’ll see the room types displayed,. and you can choose your room type. If rooms are not available it will let you know.

NOTE: Shades of Green switched to an On-Site reservation form at the beginning of February 2026 versus the old Off-Site reservation process. With this change we lost the ability to browse the calendar and see booked and available dates. You now have to plug in specific dates and get a yes or no.

The old calendar view

When you click on your intended room type, you will again have to click on your room price category. Then you’ll be presented a page where you can click on pre-set Special Requests, such as connecting rooms.

Click Continue and you’ll go to the next page where you’l enter your details.

On this page there is an additional Special Request check box. If you click this box, a field opens where you can enter additional room requests, such as a specific room number or numbers or specific area of a guest wing.

  • See this post to see what Special Requests you might like to make.

Special Requests are not guaranteed.

Last, at the bottom, enter your credit card info and click , Confirm.

Shades of Green Resort is an Armed Forces Recreation Center

You’ll find Shades of Green has reasonable room rates when compared to many of the Disney World Resorts and other hotels in the local area. Rates are based upon your pay grade or status, with junior members paying much less to help them afford a Disney vacation.

Shades of Green’s rates are constant all year long, except for various specials, which they run from time to time.

The Disney resorts on the other hand have numerous price seasons throughout the year as well as having their prices fluctuate based on the day of the week (Friday and Saturday nights are often more expensive). The price for a specific Disney resort room can vary anywhere from 1.4 to over 2 times the cheapest price for that room depending on the time of year.
