Walt Disney World has announced that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be returning this Fall!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will returning to Magic Kingdom Park this fall during the resort’s 50th Anniversary celebration!
This fall, ghosts and ghouls of all ages are invited to don their favorite costumes and celebrate all things haunted during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Taking place on 37 select nights Aug. 12 through Oct. 31, 2022, this special event haunts Magic Kingdom Park after normal park operating hours from 7 p.m. to midnight.
As a part of this limited-capacity event, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party attendees will encounter event-exclusive entertainment, notorious Disney villains, frightfully delicious menu items and more! Here’s some of what’s in store:
- The Headless Horseman will ride his ghostly steed down Main Street, U.S.A as a prelude to “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade,” which features floats filled with Disney Characters dressed in their Halloween best, Disney villains and the Haunted Mansion graveyard diggers.
- During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests can go trick-or-treating for M&M’S, SKITTLES, SNICKERS, and other Halloween favorites at locations throughout Magic Kingdom Park. And new this year, guests will also receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag featuring a keepsake 50th Anniversary celebration and Halloween design.
- Join the Sanderson Sisters during the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” stage show at Cinderella Castle as they call upon their frightening colleagues to conjure the ultimate Hocus Pocus Party Potion.
- Celebrate the season alongside favorite Disney characters as they take over the park for their favorite party of the year.
- Overlays themed for the occasion will return to several popular Magic Kingdom attractions: Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
- The Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, will host “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular.” This can’t-miss nighttime extravaganza features projections, special effects and lighting mixed with fireworks, music and Disney characters.
- Discover sweet and savory menu items inspired by fall flavors and the Halloween season.
- NEW! In honor of the 50th Anniversary celebration, we’re adding even more fun to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year in the form of event-exclusive step-in photo opportunities. And in addition to the reusable trick-or-treating tote bag, guests will also receive a Halloween-themed 50th Anniversary celebration commemorative print.

NOTE: In years past, Disney World allowed the military community to purchase MNSSHP tickets in person after arrival for sold out nights. I’d negotiated this ability with Disney because at the time Shades of Green did not sell MNSSHP tickets and the military rate was only available in person, so military families would often find their desired date sold out before they could get there on vacation and buy their tickets.
This policy was still in effect as of 2018 (the last real MNSSHP held). It is not know yet if this will hold true moving forward. I recommend that you go ahead and purchase long distance from Shades of green to secure your desired dates!

I just read that ticket
Prices are up 49%. This is crazy ! Will Military Salute members get some sort of discount for the tickets?
We do want to attend the party on Oct 4th so can you
Let me know when you get some info?
Also every time I try to book a room at a Disney resort ( no matter how close to the discount announcement date) I am always told all the rooms are booked for military discount. Can U shed some light on that also. Thanks much.
Steve says
Hi Roz,
I can’t guarantee that will be a discount, but there has bee historically.
As I note in this post, the discount is usually announced much later than this initial announcement.
I will post when I hear and update the prices on my main MNSSHP page (linked from this post).
As far as rooms, have you read: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/how-disney-armed-forces-salute-room-discounts-work/ This post explains how discounts are allocated by Disney. It may be that you are trying to book a very popular time. Have you tried shifting your dates a littel, trying different resorts, or room categories? Disney’s call center workers receive no training on their military discounts and often take getting no discount available for specific dates, resort, and room type as there is “no discount available” when changing one of these would yield a discount.

Shades of Green has the discounted ticket prices for MNSSHP posted on their site. The discount is minimal, at best. It ranges from $3 to $5, depending on whether it’s a weeknight or a weekend and which month it’s in. Even with the discount, it would cost the two of us over $300 for a 4-hour party. That’s insane! But I guess as long as people keep paying it, DIsney will keep charging it.
Steve says
Hi there Peg, thanks!
PegP says
I’m not sure what happened, but the Shades of Green website is no longer showing the MNSSHP tickets. I don’t know if they put the prices up prematurely, then had to take them back down or if the tickets sold out or what. But I was on their site yesterday and there’s nothing about MNSSHP, even when you search it on their site.
Steve says
Hi Peg,
I’m seeing it today: shadesofgreen.org/application/files/7416/5176/4073/2022_MNSSHP__CALENDAR.pdf
Amy Tupper says
Have you heard of any military folks having luck getting day-of tickets to the party when it’s sold out, as we used to do in the past?
Steve says
Hi Amy,
This was still in effect pre-2020 shutdown. I have not inquired since they reopened. The need for this has really been outdated since 1 Shades of Green started selling them long distance.
I’ll be going to WDW 14 Oct (kind of late in the NSSHP season) and will ask then.
I assume that you are going in the very near future and don’t have time to order ahead, since you’re asking about it.
