The Wilderness Lodge is a joint property. It is both a Disney Vacation Club property and a traditional Walt Disney World Resort.
The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are a Disney Vacation Club Resort. The resort is divided into 2 properties, Copper Creek Villas and Boulder Ridge Villas on Disney World’s website, but we combine them here for simplicity.
There are two buildings and a collection of cabins along the lakefront at the Wilderness Lodge. The main building houses traditional guest rooms and DVC studios and suites. There is a second newer building that houses DVC studios and suites and a collection of new cabins along the lakeside which are DVC properties called the Cascade Cabins.
Chronologically, the main building came first and was entirely traditional rooms. Then the DVC building was built next door. This was how things for many years but then some rooms in the main building were given over to DVC and the cabins on the lake added. At this time the 2 different DVC names came into being to differentiate between the properties.
The original main building housed the traditional guest rooms and Copper Creek Villas. Copper Creek Villas also has the lakeside cabins.
The separate DVC building is now called Boulder Ridge Villas.
The one and only lobby and front desk is in the main building.
All major common areas (front desk/bellhop services, dining, and merchandise) are in the original main building.
For info on the traditional resort rooms see our Wilderness Lodge Page
The look and feel of the Wilderness Lodge was inspired by national-park lodges of the early 20th century. There is lots of stonework and exposed timber. The lobby soars eight stories and has huge totem poles and a stone fireplace, which represent the various levels of the Grand Canyon strata as it rises through the lobby.

Our Thoughts
MDT Approved |
This Disney Resort Hotel is a Military Disney Tips Approved Resort! |
The Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodges are the most economical of the Deluxe Resorts. This is due to their remoteness and total reliance on Disney bus transportation to all points on property versus the options other Deluxe Resorts have (Monorail, boat, walking).
We just love the expansive lobby! It is so beautiful at Christmas time.
The new Geyser Point is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and light snack.
