Are you interested in knowing if you qualify for Disney Military Discounts? Do you want to know if you have the right ID?
Below is a chart showing the IDs that Disney accepts for veteran’s eligibility for the Disney Armed Forces Salute and regular military discounted Magic Your Way tickets from your local base ITT Office or Shades of Green.
UPDATED with new 2021 ID Guide Pic
In order to qualify for Disney’s Armed Forces Salute and Shades of Green, the military owned and operated resort on Walt Disney World property you need to be a 100% service connected disabled veteran AND have the required ID.
Your VA benefits card to Driver’s License with some sort of Veteran logo are not what you’ll need for proof of eligibility. You’ll need a military issued ID card, either a DD Form 1173 or 2765 these are the tan ID cards. The ID would need to have the DAVPRM (Disabled Veteran Permanent) code on it.
In order to obtain a new military ID you may request a form, DD-1172, which is a letter signed by the Director of your nearest Veterans Affairs Regional Office, that shows you are 100% total and permanently service connected disabled.
Take this letter, and your latest DD Form 214 to the ID Card Office at the nearest military base, where you will be issued your military ID Card. Your spouse, and children age 8 to 21 (or 26 if in college, enrollment proof required) can also be issued their dependent ID Cards, if you show your marriage license and children’s birth certificates.
The two programs you’d be eligible for as a 100% service connected disabled veteran with the DAVPRM code are:

I am a retired govt employee and also a Vietnam veteran,do I qualify for military discount at the golf courses
Hi Doyle,
There’s a little missing info in your question. When you say government employee do you mean a retired DoD civilian? Or did you work for some other Department, like the Post Office, VA, etc.?
As a prior service member with a DD-214 there is a discount you are eligible for
If you fall into several categories with that service it opens up more discounts
Id you are a DoD Civ retiree you are eligible for Shades of Green
Please use the 4 links at the bottom of this post ( where it says See Also:) to read all about these discounts. It’s way too much to type here.
The information contained here is not up to date on ID cards. The new cards issued in 2021 are not at all like the old ones.

My husband is a veteran. How can we purchase Disney World tickets?
My husband is a veteran with a military ID on his drivers licenses. How can we go about getting discounted disney world tickets?
Hi Beth,
A driver’s license is not valid for any discount associated with Disney. Depending on the discount(s) that he qualifies for, you would need to obtain the required ID.
These are all listed in this post: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/disney-veteran-discount-and-disney-military-discount-eligibility-guide/ which is linked to from this post.
I am an ex-spose, was married 23 years. I have a DOD/Uniformed Services ID with MWR authorized. My question is I am able to get discount towards Disney World park tickets?
Thank-you
Hi Maggie,
The MWR does qualify you for tickets. However this is a delicate situation, as the 6 tickets available under the Disney Armed Forces Salute belong to the member and not the spouse. You have no allocation of tickets of your own. Using any would take away from your ex’s allotment.
Hi,
My husband is retired, and I have a spouse ID that states Spouse and sponsor affiliation Retired. The ID we were provided was issued this year 2021, and I don’t see my ID in the sample picture.
Does Disney Military Salute coordinators are aware of the new retired military ID card?
Below is the link that shows the new ID:

Hi Olga,
Disney has been in total disarray over the last 11 months. I’m sure by now they have begun to see the new cards. With your’s saying Spouse of a Retired member you’ll be just fine.
Hello there,
Being a 100% DV PRM I don’t have that written on my new ID Card. It just says 100% Disabled American Veteran. No where on the new ID card does it have DAVPRM. The expiration date is “Indef.”
Is this something I’m gonna have an issue with at Disney with the new ID Cards? TIA.
Hi Kelly,
I reached out to my Shades of Green contact and they said with the next generation card that you have you will not have a problem!
I am a veteran with 60% disability with a VA ID card. I went to a ITT office on base yesterday to get 5DPH MYW tx for some friends who we are going to WDW with this fall. The civilian working there would only sell me the 5 day PH Promotional/Salute tx even though I told her I wasn’t eligible for them, and she said it would be fine. Now I am stressing about activating them at WDW. My dad (retired USAF) already got us salute tx from SOG so I was hoping he or my mom would be able to activate the new tx as well. Am I crazy?
Hi Leslie,
I’ve heard an unconfirmed rumor from a single source, that some ticket offices other than Shades of Green now have Disney ticket terminals to sell activated tickets. This isn’t the case is it?
But, your question reads like your friends are going on their own without you. The Salute tickets are intended for the member to spend time with family and friends in Disney’s parks, not to be used by those who are not eligible.
Unfortunately, if the tickets aren’t activated, it won’t be fine. A current, valid, Military ID is required to activate Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets. Your Dad has the ability to activate only his 6. Your mom has the ability in place of your dad to activate 5 of his. She has no Salute Ticket amount of her own.
What ticket office was this if you don’t mind? I can have Shades of Green have their Disney ticket rep reach out to them. Also what was the reason given for refusing to sell you the MYW tickets?
Thanks
Just wanted to really thank you for this page and staying up to date on the relevant info. It is a great asset and absolutely invaluable. I also wanted to extend my gratitude and shout out to Steve who’s been on top of the replies to comments in a very prompt and professional manner. Thank you!
Thanks Jay!
I love doing this and serving my community.
I think I read somewhere that children old enough for an ID need one too if they’re going with you. Is that the case? I know I used to be able to show my ID and we all got in on the Salute tickets.
Do I need to get IDs for my kids?
Hi Kristy,
The tickets besides the member’s (or spouse in their place) can be used for anyone. There is no need to prove military dependency (unless a couple has 5+ kids and wants 7+ Salute tickets).
Hello Steve, I am a 100% Permanent and Total PTSD Veteran from Vietnam era. I would like to purchase Disney tickets for myself and family members. Can I.
Hi Mary,
Are you 100% DAVPRM? I assume that you are this long after Vietnam. You would have a military ID with DAVPRM on it. With this ID you are elegible for all Disney Military Discounts.
May I purchase at the WDW Park?
Hi Mary,
This post is an ID guide so I don’t know what ticket you are specifically asking about, it matters. Some you can, some you can’t.
Will I be able to receive a military discount. I am a veteran with veteran ID card but didn’t file for disability.
Hi Kim,
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on many variables.
Please read these post in-depth they will help to see if you qualify (there are links to these in this post):

my son died recently active duty does my family qualify for a discount on theme tickets?
Hi Francine,
There are no discounts directly from Disney, but Shades of Green doe have a program.
The Survivors’ Family Program extends to eligible Family members who have suffered a loss of an Active Duty sponsor regardless of the cause. A DD Form 1173 with “AD” in the Sponsor Service/Status field in combination with “DB” (DOD Beneficiary) or CH (Child Beneficiary) in the Relationship field on identification cards is required.
The Survivors’ Family Discount Program provides a 50 percent discount from normal room rates by the applicable rate category. The discount applies to additional occupants and up to three guest rooms. Survivors’ Family discount requires the Survivors’ Family Member with a military identification card to make/confirm reservations and be the primary occupant.
The Survivors’ Family Program extends to sponsored guests accompanying the Survivors’ Family Member with a DD Form 1173. Stays under the Survivor Family Program are limited to a maximum of 14 nights in duration. Discounts are applicable to guest room(s) only, cannot be combined with any other offer, and may be limited to certain locations and time periods at the discretion of the General Manager.

My husband had a 100% service related disability. He passed in 2019, cause of death was his accepted condition. I now qualify for benefits from the VA. The ID card I have is like the one in the bottom left of you examples.
It states relationship as Spouse and the Sponsor Affiliation states: Disabled American Veteran-DEC.
Authorized Patronage States: MWR, Commissary Unlimited Exchange
Do I qualify for The discounts listed here and the shades of green??
Thank you.
Hi Lisa,
Yes I believe so. From what’s on your ID I believe your husband did not retire from the military, which would disqualify him and you from the Disney Armed Forces Salute ticket and room discounts but still make you eligible for All other military tickets and Shades of Green stays.
I’d call them just to be sure.
