Why Disneyland Military Discounts Are Different from Walt Disney World
Many military families assume Disneyland and Walt Disney World offer identical military discounts because both resorts are part of Disney.
They do not!
Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort operate as separate resort businesses under the larger Walt Disney Company umbrella. In the same way that other Disney-owned businesses operate within their own markets and business structures, the two domestic Disney resorts make separate decisions about ticket products, hotel offers, pricing, operating rules, and military promotions.
That is why:
- Disneyland and Walt Disney World military ticket prices are different
- The available number of ticket days is different
- Blockout dates can be different
- Hotel offers and discount structures are different
- The offers are frequently announced separately
- A benefit offered at one resort may not be offered at the other
The Disney Armed Forces Salute has always been a Disney-wide concept, but the Disneyland and Walt Disney World versions have never been completely identical.
MOST FAMILIES DON’T REALIZE: There is no single combined “Disney military discount” that automatically operates the same way at both coasts. Disneyland and Walt Disney World each establish their own version of the annual offer.
STEVE SAYS: Because Disneyland and Disney World are separate companies under the Disney umbrella, the two ticket offers are separate. Using six Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets at Walt Disney World does not prevent you from purchasing and using up to six Disneyland Salute Tickets during the same offer year.
Why Are Disneyland Military Discounts Announced Later?
Disneyland and Walt Disney World often announce their military offers at different times.
In some years, Walt Disney World announces its next offer first. Disneyland may follow days, weeks, or even months later.
This delay does not automatically mean:
- Disneyland has ended its military offer
- The Disneyland discount has been forgotten
- Walt Disney World’s announcement applies to Disneyland
- The two resorts will offer identical prices or rules
The resorts develop and release their promotions separately.
I have tracked the Disney Armed Forces Salute announcements every year since the program began in 2009, and the separate announcement schedule creates confusion almost every fall. When Walt Disney World announces first, Disneyland families understandably begin asking whether their offer will return.
The correct answer is that Disneyland’s offer must be separately announced and confirmed.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: Never assume that a Walt Disney World military announcement includes Disneyland unless Disneyland is specifically named. The two offers may share a general theme and eligibility structure, but each resort publishes its own prices, dates, and operating rules.
Disneyland’s Former Military PhotoPass Discount
Another example of the resorts making different decisions involves Disney PhotoPass.
Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland introduced a military PhotoPass discount with the 2019 Disney Armed Forces Salute. Both resorts continued offering their versions of the discount through the 2021 Salute.
Beginning with the 2022 offer:
- Walt Disney World continued offering its military-discounted Memory Maker product
- Disneyland stopped offering a separate military PhotoPass discount
Disneyland has not restored the standalone military PhotoPass offer for 2026.
Disneyland guests can still receive unlimited PhotoPass downloads from the day of use when Lightning Lane Multi Pass is included with or added to their ticket. That is a feature of Lightning Lane Multi Pass, not a separate military PhotoPass discount.

You may spread the ticket days across the offer period, provided every day is used by December 31, 2026 and you obtain the required park reservation for each visit.

The 2026 Disneyland 1-Day Military Ticket
Disneyland also offers a specially priced one-day military ticket:
- Adult, ages 10 and older: $104
- Child, ages 3–9: $98
The standard version provides admission to one park.
A one-day Park Hopper version may also be available through participating military base ticket offices.

Disneyland Salute Ticket Use and Activation Rules
Disneyland Armed Forces Salute Tickets are not transferable once activated.

How Park Hopper Reservations Work

Regular Military Discounted Disneyland Tickets
Regular Military Discounted Disneyland Tickets are military-discounted versions of Disneyland’s standard one- through five-day tickets.
The savings are smaller than the Armed Forces Salute, but the tickets offer much greater flexibility.
They are especially useful when:
- You do not qualify for the Salute
- You need one, two, or five park days
- You have already reached the Salute ticket limit

For many years, the regular military ticket products at Disneyland and Walt Disney World followed a broadly similar model.
That changed when Walt Disney World moved its regular Military Theme Park Tickets to date-based pricing, shorter validity periods, and a more trip-specific structure.
Disneyland retained the more traditional military ticket format.

Buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass Without Comparing the Cost

STEVE RECOMMENDS: Compare the final military room rate—including taxes and fees—with nearby walking-distance hotels. At Disneyland, location is not limited to Disney-owned hotels. 2026 Disneyland Military Dining Discounts
Disney-owned restaurants inside Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and the Disneyland Resort hotels do not offer military dining discounts.

For most Salute-eligible military families visiting Disneyland for three or four days, the Disneyland Armed Forces Salute Ticket is the best value.
However, the Regular Military Discounted Disneyland Ticket may be the better choice when:
- Your trip is not three or four days
- You need tickets beyond the Salute limit
- You are buying for family or friends
- The military sponsor will not travel
- You qualify under rules that apply to regular military tickets but not the Salute
- You want a ticket with a later expiration before first use
The right ticket is not always the one with the largest advertised discount. It is the one whose eligibility, number of days, expiration rules, and travel requirements fit your actual vacation.
