Shades of Green at Walt Disney World offers some Discounts and Packages during slow periods.
On this page, you’ll find all of the current Military Discounts that are available from Shades of Green.
In recent years, these discounts have diverged from their original large discounts of up to 40% and have settled at 1-% to 15% off rooms. Room and meal packages that were offered in the past have also disappeared.
The room-only discounts are a great complement to the Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket Discount.
Shades of Green offers varied short-term discounts to fill their rooms as needed. Some of the recent discounts have been for small blocks of days rather than long periods, and they’ve been discontinued as soon as the time frame they are trying to fill is full.
Shades of Green’s Discounts
Shades of Green is currently only offering short-term discounts for short periods of days during a month. their old long-term permanent discounts that ran continuously are no more.
Note: Something to be aware of is that Shades of Green constantly changes the dates and amount of discounts offered on their specials and packages. They will make the initial announcement, and then as rooms begin to fill up, they will reduce the available dates and/or the amount of the savings. I’ve seen month-long specials at 40% off be reduced to a smattering of days at 20% off. I do try to keep up with this, but they make no announcements of changes, so I have to discover changes as they come out.
Shades of Green is the final authority on the discounts they are currently offering!
If they tell you there is no discount available, then there isn’t. Do not say, “But I saw it on Military Disney Tips,” and demand it. I just might not have seen their change yet. If you do encounter this, please let me know if the discount has changed!
Shades of Green’s Regular Rates
Shades of Green’s Short-Term Discounts
Shades of Green used to offer long-term discounts (they were offered all year, permanently). These were discontinued after reopening from the 2020 shutdown. So all discounts are now the short-term ones.
New for 2026 – Shades of Green has started offering 2 different discounts for the same or overlapping time periods, one discount of the room only and the other for the room and breakfast. They briefly experimented with this in September 2025, and now it’s back in 2026 in April, May, and August.
If you are interested in these dates, act fast, because Shades does modify their discounts (not for the better) the longer they’ve been available. Those who book early will get the best discount! You will see the changes below indicated by the crossed-out percentages and dates.
The current short-term discounts are:
Savings & Summer Memories – ACTIVE DUTY ONLY!
Shades of Green has offered a new discount exclusively for active duty personnel.
For late summer 2026 it is offering the Savings & Summer Memories discount. This offer is a set dollar amount off the standard room rates versus a percentage off. The offer is for the room rate only and not room and breakfast.
Offer Rates:
- CATEGORY 1: E-1 through E-6 and Cadets – $139.00
- CATEGORY 2: E-7 through E-9, O-1 through O-3, WO-1 to CW-3 – $179.00
- CATEGORY 3: O-4 through O-10, CW-4 and CW-5, Active Department of War service members, Foreign Military assigned to a U.S. Military installation only. – $199.00
This equates to a savings of $45.00 (24.46%) for Category 1, $58.00 (24.47%) for Cat 2, and $58 (22.57%) for Cat 3.

Savings are available on standard room only on a first-come, first-served basis.
The deal is only valid for Active Duty Service Member room only; sponsored rooms will fall under regular sponsored rates.

How to Book
Shades of Green has stopped allowing you to book their specials through their online system.
Shades of Green’s special rates can only be reserved by calling their reservation line at (888) 593-2242. They can not be reserved online!
You specifically ask the reservationist for the special; they will not add it automatically.
If only some of your travel dates are during a Special Rate, you can still have the discount applied to those dates.

Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018
In January 2020 Shades of Green received new Department of Defense/Army Regulations that expand authorized use at AFRC Resorts to Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war (POW), veterans with VA-documented service-connected disability ratings, and Primary Family Caregivers of eligible Veterans under the VA Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.

I am having such a hard time trying to figure out why there is no availability for any suite at SOG. We are trying to visit May 2023 and I decided to do a trial run on the web site with the understanding the suites are hard to get. Looking a at dates a full year out there is absolutely no suites offered, so upsetting because I guess there is nothing I can do.

This is not the first time I’ve heard this over the years. People who want these do it the first day possible.
There are only 11 suites. I don’t know about now, but in the past the Shades general manager (a previous one) lived in one of them, blocking it from guest use.
I just looked and from summer on see only 2 days a month available Jul-Nov and 5 days in Jan 23.
I’d try calling to ask if they have any blocked and to see what time the upcoming day drops and you need be online to try to reserve 365 days prior to your dates.
