Is there still a single day military discount?
We already have 4 day tickets but of course the day we planned to be our off day is MK extended hours!
So excited that memory maker is discounted again!

      Hi Katie,

Yes there are still the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets. See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/regular-military-discounted-magic-your-way-tickets/

Be careful and compare the added cost to upgrading to a 5-day Salute ticket.

Just an FYI. I booked rooms at Caribbean Resort. When I called back for discounts. That room was still $500 cheaper than anything with a military discount. Plus I waited 1.5 hours on hold.

    Steve

I just tried booking a room in April and unfortunately when Disney says no blackout they mean that you can book a room but they DO HAVE BLACKOUT DATES for ‘pricing.’ April’s blackout is 4/10/22 – 4/23/22. This means you will pay the normal rack rate for that room if your stay hits any of those dates.

I am not sure of any other blackouts for pricing since I only tried booking in April. I am sure there are more for 2022. Good luck everyone.

Thought you might want to be aware of this.

Steve – Thank you for all of your tips!!

Has now been released and I called no rooms available how can that be ?

      Hi Celestia,

Well…. They told you a fib when you made the reservation. The discount has to be available for that resort on those nights and for that room type. They would then cancel the lod one and make a new one with the discount.

I called Disney back and was able to secure military discounts at the Beach Club Resort, even though on our last call they said no discounts 11/20-26/22. We switched hotels, though, from boardwalk to beach resort.

We are still going to try to get DVC points to save even more, but at least for now we have secured a place to stay.

Hi Steve! Thanks for your tips as always.

We tried booking a standard room in most any deluxe resort September for about a week. Only discounts available, if any, were club level rooms.

Mid September isn’t normally that busy. I don’t know if it’s because of the 50th Anniversary or what, but after having no problems booking military discounted standard rooms in the past, we were surprised and disappointed.

      Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the intel! I’m totally disappointed with Disney for waiting sooo long to release the Salute. So long that there are a large number of reports like yours, that the room discount is mostly unavailable.

I tried to book a club level room for June 2022. Nothing was available with the discount. Also, the CM said the average discount was around 28%. The room rates have almost doubled in the last year so it’s just not worth it to my family. We’ve decided to go to Universal next year. Their military discounts are so much better.

      Hi Larry,

Disney’s current ID guide is copied here: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/walt-disney-world-military-discount-id-guide-for-veterans/

As you can see it’s a little vague as to the new IDs, it just mentions looking for the service.

What does yours say under affiliation?

Very disappointed in the new ticket prices. $30 per ticket is a sizable increase. We rescheduled our planned 2022 trip to get it in 2021 before the prices go up. $30 times each family member is too much, especially since we’ll now have to pay for transportation from the airport to our resort in 2022.

But was very glad to see that Universal Studios didn’t hike their prices. The ticket deal was already much better than Disney’s, but not raising the prices made it even sweeter. We’ll now be taking our business to Universal in the future. It was a nice run with Disney while it lasted, but all things must come to end.

Hi Steve, thank you for keeping us posted on release dates, etc. We have a reservation for Art of Animation in early February. Called today to modify our reservation and was told the discount is not available. We have been in February, June and October several times and have NEVER had an issue with discount availability. This is very disheartening and may likely cause us to cancel our trip all together. I was advised that I could keep trying to call to see if anything changes. With so many people running into the same issue, could this possibly be a glitch or is it simply another way for Disney to get as much money as they can?

      Hi Christy,

In the past when they released in late Spt there was at times issues with getting the discount in the early part of the year based on reader feedback, as the general public had been filling up rooms for 2 months prior to the mil discount coming out.

However this year it’s way worse (during much of the year) due to their waiting till November.

Plus I do not think the resorts are using 100% of their rooms due to staffing.

Lots are saying the same thing Jacob.

You can’t beat the Freedom Pass!!!!

I went on 2 long research trips to Universal this year and enjoyed it. You’ll note differences, but it’s well worth the money!

Be prepared for counter service that is not up to par with WDW. Full service is good to great.

Much smaller property so easy to get around like Disneyland is.

I’ve got my next trip to Universal Orlando set for Feb.

I’m planning a 4 day trip to Disney World from 30 Dec – 3 Jan. I only want to go to the parks on the 1st and 2nd. I then have a second trip planned in June of 2022. Can I buy the 4 or 5 day military discounted tickets and split the tickets between both trips. I could’ve sworn a couple of years ago, once those tickets were activated on your first park day, you had “30” or so days to utilize the rest of them. Is that the case or is it upon salute ticket expiration on 17 Dec 2022? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

      Hi Carlos,

Not sure what your recalling, but you have always had the whole offer period to use the days on Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets.

The Regular Disney Military Ticket Discount for Walt Disney World and Disneyland expire 14(WDW)/13(DL) days after first use though. Maybe you are thinking of these?

I could be thinking of those types of tickets; that year I utilized the (6) ticket limit and was forced to buy regular discounted tickets within the same year. I appreciate your assistance. This is a fantastic blog as I am a Disney connoisseur. Thank you!

Are traditional guardsmen still eligible? I was told months ago on base that we are, but when I went to order the tickets I was told we aren’t. Whiteman AFB told me if I was on title ten orders I could, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Absolutely, DSGs are eligible for the Disney Armed Forces Salute Jonathan.

Whiteman is totally wrong. I was a traditional reservist most of my career and used it all the time.

The needing to be on orders is a rule from pre 2009… and it was for for different offers…

My dad inquired at Fort Bragg about the Salute tickets. He’s wanting to travel with me and my family (husband and kids). They told him that we have to stay together in the parks even after we enter/activate the tickets. I read otherwise on your site from a few years ago but wanted to confirm if that’s still the case? My mom is concerned about not being able to run with the kids the whole time (like if she wants to stay in Epcot and they want to head back to Magic Kingdom). Or if there’s a day we don’t all want to arrive at the park together. Can you clarify?

      Hi Meghan,

While the folks who work at base ticket offices mean very well, a surprising number of them often do not know what they are talking about and give out bad information (through no fault of their own, it’s lack of training).

At Walt Disney World, once activated (even before the first entry) you do not need to stay together. this is true today as it was back to the beginning of the Salutes in 2009. (this is your situation)

And at Disneyland, there was a time in the past (at least 6-8 or more years back) when the member had to enter the park with their guests the first time each day, then the party could split up. Today the member must enter the park with their guests the very first time, as this is how DL activates the Salute tickets, then they may split up for the rest of that day and for the remainder of days on the tickets.
