I have been waiting on pins and needles for the announcement so I was excited to get the email until I read it and found it was only for DisneyWorld! I am planning a trip to Disneyland the second week of January so here’s hoping that Salute is announced soon. I am worried about getting park reservations. Great news that at least we have finally heard something!!
I just talked to my MWR (Joint Base Lewis-McChord and they have the Disneyland tickets for $277.25 and go on sale tomorrow (15 Nov). I would advise calling your local MWR to see what they say.
Even the Disney Chat had not heard anything about them.
Thanks for the intel Kelly!!!
Thank you so much Kelly. That is great news for us planning a Disneyland trip! I will give my local base ticket office a call in the morning.
Heck yeah! I use JBLM too, and am now wondering if the Room Rates will be the same as last year too?
Thank you for sharing this! I live an hour away from JBLM, so it’s nice to see this without having to make the drive. Do you know how many days that pass is for? (The $277.25 ticket)
Hi Kirsten,
Thanks!
Are you talking about the 4-day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper for $280?
Today (11/13/2022) I checked with Disney and they said that the 2023 military salute tickets have not been announced – where did you get this info, your website is the only one with it.
Hi Natasha,
Many base ticket offices also have the info.
We are retired military in Michigan. Where would we purchase the tickets?
Hi Beth,
Please see this post: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/buy-military-discounted-disney-tickets-by-phone/
Beth,
You can call the Shades of Green directly to order and pay for your tickets.
Thanks Rob,
The post I linked to offers suggestions of how to purchase long distance including Shades of Green (among others).
Your best place for purchasing the tickets is through Shades of Green. You can get them through the military bases, even if you don’t live near one, but Shades of Green is the best one to use. If you get your tickets through the base ticket offices, you have to activate them at the park, which means going to Guest Services and showing them your military ID. If you get them through Shades of Green, you just email them a copy of your ID along with the ticket request form, so everything’s verified before arriving at Disney. No need to waste precious park time standing in line at Guest Services. Just a suggestion.
Do you just pick them up there when you arrive in Florida, even if you aren’t staying at Shades of Green??
Hi Kayla,
Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets can be purchased from your local base ticket office or a base that ships.
Shades of Green does ship.

You need them ahead of time to make theme park reservations!

I was happy to get the information about 2023 military tickets, but booked rooms at SOG last April and now there are blackout dates for when we are traveling. I am glad they are offering the discount.
Steve,
Great news we have been waiting for this, but my Party is 7 people (4 Adults and 3 Kiddos) for the last week of May. 2023.
Saw an article where the Disney CFO said Annual passes may be coming back soon.
Heard any rumors?
Walt
Hi there Walt,
No I haven’t yet. I’m thinking Disney’s announcement of layoffs may play into this as to whether they lay off folks at the already short staffed theme park resorts (the reason for the lack of AP sales and theme park reservations).
I saw the e-mail this morning only 20 minutes after you posted it, Steve. I dialed the WDW Resort Reservations number immediately before discovering that I could not access your site from the e-mail. Didn’t know what I would be told but only had to wait 10 minutes before I was talking to a Cast Member who was very knowledgeable about the Armed Forces Salute and that it was available as of this morning.
I had done my homework yesterday and knew exactly what we wanted and when.
We will be staying at the Boardwalk Inn in Dec 2023 and got a 25% discount. Michael, the Cast Member, said that was the highest discount for 2023.
Awesome Peggy!!!
Sadly I’ve had some issues with the site being down this morning due to the traffic. Thanks for hanging in there.
I was told that Memory Make will be $98 for 2023 with the Armed Forces Salute.
Yep, that checks Peggy. Thanks!
do you have a list of where to buy military salute tickets? we are a guard family and the base doesnt have a ticketing station.
Hi Christine,
See https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/buy-military-discounted-disney-tickets-by-phone/
Thanks so much for the info!!! We were able to get right in when Disneyland office opened and were able to get the Military Rates for our stay in April!!! Saved us 53%.
I was able to modify my Animal Kingdom resort reservation to the % 25 military discount this morning. Lower rates than previous years.
Was able to book Wilderness Lodge CL with the discount this morning. It was about 27% A little less than previous years, but still so grateful that Disney has renewed the Military discount. Thanks Steve for all your hard work keeping us updated.
I’m very happy they renewed the salute, but. blocking out Thanksgiving week is a huge problem b/c that’s when we always used to go. Now they have blocked out all of my kids’ breaks except summer when it is too h0t. I understand from a business standpoint, but it’s not good from a parent standpoint.
Totally agree Jane!
It’s been probably 10 years since they blocked Thanksgiving from the Salute.
Where and how do you sign up to get the resorts for Disney salute discounts? What would be the website?
Hi,
The Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Rates are not available online.
You need to call the Disney reservation numbers or use my recommended Travel Agent Ears of Experience who can do it for you.
Ears of Experience
Disneyland prices for Military Salute are $241.00 for the 3 day ticket and $275.00 for the 4 day ticket. This information is from the Camp Pendleton ITT. The tickets are not valid until January 9th. Last year you could use them beginning on Jan. 1st.
Hi Karen,
Thanks. The prices I’ve listed are the actual Disney price. SOme Ticket Offices use local MWR funds to slightly discount tickets for their customers. The discount amount varies but is usually a few bucks. Other bases actually add a fee onto the tickets that they sell. While most bases just sell at the Disney price.
You are correct on the 9th start date, thanks!
Hi Steve! Thanks for the update!
We are a retired family planning a trip in January 2023 for 6 people, 12 years old and older. We’re staying for 9 nights and were planning 6 days in the parks. With the Armed Forces Salute offered for only 5 days, do you have a recommendation for getting that 6th day?
Hi there Carla,
You have 2 options.
The first is to go with the 5-day Park Hopper Plus. While the 6th day would not be a park day, you could use multiple Plus visits to fill the day (water park, golf, and mini golf). This keeps your price at $369 each.
The other is the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets. And there would be 2 ways to go with these, buy a 1-day to use on top of your Salute ticket or buy the 6-day MYW. Whether a 1 or 6 day there are 4 varieties Base (no hopping), Park Hopper, Water Park and Sports, and Park Hopper Plus with prices that go up with more options added.
This will take some calculation, but you’ll need to do a price check for each person (if their desires are different) or just the same for everyone if you will always stick together with the same preferences, the different costs of adding a 1-day base, hopper, water park & sports, or hopper plus on top of a 5-day Salute ticket or buying a 6-day base, hopper, water park& sports, or hopper plus. As I said the answer might not be the same for everyone.

Are the rates not as good this year After talking to a Disney rep, I calculated a 15% discount for a 6 night stay with the Cars suite at the Art of Animation. We booked 4 years ago and it was $1,200 less plus we had stayed 7 nights.
Hi Vanessa,
Starting with the 2018 calendar year Salute Disney changed how the Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts work (see the link). Prior to that there was a set percentage off (30% value, 35% moderate, & 40% Deluxe). In 2018 the discounts became variable from those old percentages (or occasionally more) to zero based on Disney’s need to fill the rooms quantified by already booked rooms, by date, resort, and room type.
And rooms have continually gone up in the intervening years.
But it does suck on the receiving end…
I was not sure what to do since my booking was made directly with Disney. Originally our soldier didn’t want to go because he wanted to see family and friends while on leave. He changed his mind so we needed a different room to accommodate 3 adults and 2 kids. We decided to change to a family suite at All Star Music.
Using the rate given online today for the room only versus what was updated on my account- it was a 15% savings. Not a 30% like last year – as the new promotion says up to 30%. Room only total online $1658.24 while our rate is $1409.52 after applying 2023 Salute rate.
I’m ok with the discount because we, his parents, are paying. At this point I’d pay anything just to have our family together for a week! However, it’s disappointing to think of the added restrictions combined with up to % off (not a set %) and the increase in ticket pricing. This will impact service members who have to pay for themselves.
Hi Samantha,
I totally agree with you. I’ve not cared at all for the variable percentages of the recent Salute room discounts.
With the big change in leadership at Disney last night, perhaps it’s time to share your thoughts on this in a letter to Bob Iger.
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/how-to-contact-disney-and-disney-officials/
For anyone wondering about resort room discounts, they’re pretty sad this year. I was booking a trip with the 2023 discount and was a bit shocked at how low the military discounts were. For the value resorts, they were coming in a hair less than 15%. The moderates were a hair less than 20%. And this was for September, their slowest month! I didn’t price any of the deluxe resorts.
We are planning a trip to WDW in March and a trip to Disneyland in October…is the 6 ticket maximum per park or per year?
Hi Aggie,
You will be all set!
Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort are separate companies under the Disney corporate umbrella, their offers are totally separate.
The limit at each location is 6 per eligible member, per offer period.
The WDW 2023 offer period is 1 Jan – 15 Dec.
The DLR 2023 offer period is 9 Jan – 15 Dec.
I have a question regarding who picks up the tickets from the base. My uncle lives in the same town as the base and has offered to pick them up for us so that we don’t have to make the drive. Will that cause any problems when we have the tickets activated at Disney World? Does it matter if the person using the tickets is not the same person purchasing them from the base, as long as the person activating them at Disney is in or is retired from the military?
Hi Bradley,
The eligible person who activates the Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets at Disney does not need to be the same eligible person who purchases the tickets.
Are you aware of the long distance purchase options?
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/buy-military-discounted-disney-tickets-by-phone/
We just received the new ID cards. My husband is 100% service connected disabled. Shades of Green web page no longer shows that designation as eligible for Salute tickets. However, your page does list 100% as eligible.
Can you clear this up for me?
Thank you
Hi LauraBelle,
Disney’s own eligibility guide which Shades of Green publishes here (it is linked from this page, click on ELIGIBILITY under MILITARY PROMOTIONAL TICKET at the bottom of th e page) still shows 100% disabled (top right).
Can genie+ be added to the WDW salute tickets?
Hi Margot,
At Disneyland, yes.
At Walt Disney World, no. WDW stopped selling Genie+ (or adding it to) all tickets (military or otherwise) mid-2022.
This is because there were so many people using it at the cheap 15 bucks a day that there was little value. People only got one good attraction then all the rest were either ones they really didn’t need it for (short lines) or very late in the day. So they took it off tickets and started selling only in app on a daily basis at more to lots more per day depending on attendance. This keeps the number of users lower. They also decreased the Individual Lightning Lane purchase from 2 to 1 attraction per park, adding the 1 attraction per park into the Genie+ lineup to add more value.
Anyway, I never recommended that you buy it as part of a ticket. You don’t need it at every park! See this comment here by Michele: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-genie-and-genie-service/#comment-429957
Is the 4 day WDW Armed Forces Salute price REALLY $400+ cheaper than buying it from the WDW site? That’s a huge (but awesome) savings if so!
Hi Monica,
Yes, it’s actually $228 to $425 cheaper.
Keep in mind that the Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets are a special highly discounted tickets. The price for the closest equivalent 4-day hopper on Disney’s site ranges from $577.34 on the cheap end to $774.51 at it’s most expensive price this year (both prices include tax).
But as it is a special ticket you are comparing apples and oranges… The actual equivalent ticket to Disney’s online ticket is the 4-day Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Ticket at $556.00 adult and $539.00 kids. There is no tax on these.
