Understanding Walt Disney World Ticket Options.

Updated February 2022 for the discontinuation of Shades of Green Stars and Stripes Passes

There are 3 different options that can be added to Walt Disney World’s base tickets.

Base tickets are the cheapest Walt Disney World ticket that you can purchase, they allow you to enter one theme park per day. If you leave during the day you may re-enter the same theme park later in the day. You may not enter a different park on the same day.

The options discussed below can be added to base tickets for an additional fee. This applies to general public tickets and the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets.

First will discuss the three options that can be added onto tickets, and then we’ll discuss the ticket types that the options can be added unto.

Ticket Options

There are 3 options that you can add to your Base Ticket, these are the Park Hopper Option, the Water Parks and Sports Option, and the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Ticket options are purchased for the entire length of your ticket.

Park Hopper Option

The Park Hopper Option is the cheapest ticket add-on.

This option allows guests to visit multiple parks on the same day. You may enter as many theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom) as many times as you’d like each day for the number of days on the ticket.

Water Parks and Sports Option

The middle-of-the-road option price-wise is the Water Parks and Sports Option.

The Water Parks and Sports Option allows entry to 1 theme park per day plus a specific number of entries into the following locations:

• Blizzard Beach Water Park
• Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
• ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
• Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
• Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course, prior to 4 p.m.
• Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course, prior to 4 p.m.

The number of entries equals the number of days on your ticket.

Park Hopper Plus Option

The most expensive ad-on is the Park Hopper Plus Option.

The Park Hopper Plus Option allows entry to multiple theme parks per day plus a specific number of entries into the following locations:

• Blizzard Beach Water Park
• Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
• ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
• Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
• Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course, prior to 4 p.m.
• Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course, prior to 4 p.m.

The difference between the Water Parks and Sports Option in the Park Hopper Option is the ability to enter multiple parks on the same day.

The Water Park and Sports & Plus entries are separate from the Theme Park Days on your ticket.

Think of them as two separate tickets in one. One ticket with the number of theme park days purchased, whether a single theme park entry or multiple theme park entries per day,  and a second ticket with the same number of non-theme park entries.

Water Park and Sports & Plus entries equal the number of days on your ticket.

Water Park and Sports & Plus entries can be used on the same or different days as theme park days and can be used multiple times on the same day if you wish.

For example – You could go to a theme park in the morning (using up a theme park day), then after lunch go to Blizzard Beach Water Park (using 1 Plus Entry), then prior to 4 p.m. play a round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens (using a 2nd Plus Entry). Then depending on your ticket you could re-enter the same park from the morning or a different one if you have the Hopper Plus Option.

Plus entries are by the day, you may leave and then return the same day (except for golf in mini golf).

Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets

Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets are a very special ticket offer, for a specific number of days, that come in only two varieties, Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus.

Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets

Magic Your Way Tickets are what Disney calls Walt Disney World’s theme park tickets, these are what are available to the general public.

Military Resellers (Base Ticket Offices and Shades of Green) offer these at a slight discount. There is no official name for these other than the street name, so I call them Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets to distinguish them from the more highly discounted Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets.

Magic Your Way Tickets come in one to ten-day lengths. The Base Ticket can have all three of these options add it on to it.
