Extra Magic Hours is one of the special benefits that you’ll receive when staying at a Disney Resort Hotel.

Big News: Extra Magic Hours will be replaced by Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours.

See our page about these 2 new offerings, coming in October 2021.

Extra Magic Hours, or EMH, allow extra time in a specific theme park for those staying on property. During EMH, those not staying with Disney are not allowed in the park making standby wait times for attractions much shorter!

Extra Magic Hours happen either before regular park opening or after regular park closing at a designated theme park on specific days

Morning EMH draws a lot of people from on property to the park in question. Those who do not have Park Hopper Tickets will then be in that park for the entire day. When the general public is allowed to come in at the regular opening time it plusses up the attendance, making it higher than it normally would have been (due to the extra EMH bodies).

Many suggest that if you take advantage of Morning EMH, that you should Park Hop (if you have the tickets) to another park when attendance starts to swell.

Extra Magic Hours are associated with your Disney Resort room,. Your room key, magic band, or resort ID is what gets you in. EMH is not associated with your ticket type, any valid ticket (military or general public) will work, though having the Hopper Option is recommended.

Participation in Extra Magic Hours is a benefit available to those staying in a Walt Disney World Resort, Shades of Green, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

Extra Magic Hours, or EMH allow Disney’s on property guests the ability to spend more time in specific parks on specific days, than the general public.

There are two types of Extra Magic Hours, Morning EMH and Nighttime EMH.

Morning EMH allows on property guests to enter the designated theme park one hour earlier than the regular opening time. This early start to your day gives you a big advantage, as you can get in quite a few attractions during that first hour when the specified EMH park is relatively empty.

Nighttime EMH allows on property guests to stay in the designated theme park two hours later than the regular closing time.

Nighttime EMH can be particularly effective for those who want to ride lots of rides. Off property guests, those who started the day early, and families with little kids will have mostly cleared out, freeing up the standby lines so that you can quickly ride over and over.

EMH is different than Disneyland’s Magic Mornings.
