Active and Retired U.S. Military, including members of the U.S. Coast Guard and participating members of the National Guard or Reserve, may purchase discounted Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tickets for special military priced event nights. They may also purchase additional tickets for up to five (5) family members and/or friends.
Where Can You Purchase These Specially Priced Tickets?
- Direct From Walt Disney World:
- These special tickets must be purchased in person (with proper military ID) from Walt Disney World ticket or Guest Relations locations! They can not be pre-purchased over the phone or internet.
- From Shades of Green:
- You may also purchase these special tickets in person at Shades of Green’s Ticket Office
- Shades of Green will ship these tickets for a fee. You can email them at: [email protected] and they will email you the forms that you need to fill out.
NOTE: In years past, Disney World allowed the military community to purchase MNSSHP tickets in person after arrival for sold out nights. I’d negotiated this ability with Disney because at the time Shades of Green did not sell MNSSHP tickets and the military rate was only available in person, so military families would often find their desired date sold out before they could get there on vacation and buy their tickets.
This special treatment is no longer available! Frankly, I’d been expecting this for years. Once Shades of Green started selling long distance it was inevitable.
Non-Military Tickets can be ordered ahead of time by calling 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639), or visit disneyworld.com (Disney Vacation Club members must call Member Services.)

So there are no dates for the military discount during December at all?
Correct, Disney has never discounted Dec dates as they are higher attendance at dates.
So they only offer the discount for 4 of the 22 nights and only at the beginning of November? We’re going the end of November (after Thanksgiving). Had hoped to go to the party, but I guess not if they don’t offer a discount. Would cost me over $300 for myself and two kids (because one kid is 10, so they consider her an adult)
Hi Peg,
Yes, unfortunately they only discount nights that they need to draw extra attendance, not the very busy to sold out nights.
Hello, thanks for the great info and extra details. On a side note, any recommendations for best Deluxe and Moderate class resorts for Christmas time stay, with 2 kids/girls around 6-9 yr old age range? Was looking at Grand FL, but not sure….thanks!
Hi Keith,
All Disney deluxes are decorated to the 9s for Christmas. The Grand Floridian has a giant gingerbread house in the lobby from which they sell Christmas treats. It is the priciest deluxe. The Wilderness Lodge is probably decorated the nicest and is a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.
Is there tax on Christmas party tickets sold at shades of green?
Hi Kelly, no there isn’t
Have they announced the 2019 military discounts for the Very Merry Christmas party yet? Not sure when this post was written, so didn’t know if it hadn’t been announced yet or if the military wasn’t getting discounts this year. Disney’s already selling the tickets for the party. Do you know if they’re discounting them this year for the military?
Hello Peggy,
It always takes quite a long time after they announce the general public dates and prices for the military info to come out. Rest assured that this post will be updated when the info is available.
Be adviised the discounts on the Halloween Party this year were disappointing, well less than in years past. I would expect the same for the Christmas Party.
Hello, just a quick followup on; did Disney confirm yet if they will allow military/veterans to buy MVMCP tickets on the same day they want to attend even if it’s already sold out to the general public? It would be great to avoid shipping costs which would cut into the discount savings, plus give flexibility. Thanks!
Hi Ed,
From what I’ve been told this is in effect. Trough with the ability to buy ahead from Shades it isn’t as necessary.
Hi again, is there any written policy that can pointed to as definitive proof, to avoid a really bad surprise of not being able to purchase tickets for sold-out dates? Shades of Green told me that only November dates are military discounted, but Disney “should” allow folks to purchase at the gate for sold-out dates, but no military discounts (plus gotta pay tax, which I understand). Another time, an online chat with Disney said “no”, can’t buy tickets if the event is already sold-out; but I’m hoping that particular person didn’t understand the military programs. Having a guarantee of being able to purchase same-day tickets even for sold-out parties would be great, and for flexibility (for example, opting for another party day if it ends up being heavy rain all night on the original date tentatively planned weeks/months earlier). Thanks!
Hello again Ed,
No, I’m sorry there is no written proof for this policy, just as there isn’t for most of the policies that govern Disney’s other military discounts.
For example Disney’s website has 8 bullet points of rules for the Disney Armed Forces Salute, 2 of which apply to Base Ticket Offices and not Disney. I have 2 pages of their rules in a word doc which are scattered through the site or all in one place in my books.
Prior to 2012 the only way to get a military discount for MNSSHP & MVMCP was to go in person to a WDW ticket window on the desired day. If the event was sold, out too bad. At the time I had a fantastic relationship with WDW Media Relations and explained why this was a problem for our community. WDW came up with this solution, though it never made it into print.
In 2012 there were numerous issues, since then I have only occasionally heard of any pushback by uninformed cast members at the point of sale and the outcome has always been, “Well we’ll do it this one time to spread pixie dust.” The key if there is an issue is to politely stay firm and keep escalating in leadership levels if needed.
As I mentioned this program is way less needed now with Shades of Green selling long distance. Is the issue that you don’t know if or when you’ll do the party?
Also FYI, never trust anything cast members tell you long distance (phone, email, chat) about military discounts! many ARE very uninformed: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/Tips/Disneys-Call-Center-Very-Often-Wrong-On-Military-Discounts.html
Some of the prices you have posted for the regular prices for the MVMC are different then what is on the Disney site currently. Need to check and up date. How do we know for sure how much the tickets are going to be?
Hi Mary,
You were not specific as to which dates and prices you think are incorrect, but I just verified all general public gate prices (the only ones on Disney’s site) listed in this post and they are correct.
Perhaps you are being thrown off by the sales tax which Disney does not show on the calendar view. For example November 8th: pre tax prices are $109 adult and $104 child, but when sales tax is added the price is $116.09 & $110.76 at the gate.
But thanks for asking, when double checking I discovered the military prices have come down. I’ve updated these.
Does the service member have to be present to redeem these tickets? If I purchase these tickets from shades have them shipped will I have to be with my parents to redeem them, like the salute ticket?
Hi Kyle,
Unlike the Salute tickets, once purchased these are ready to go.
Tours and Tickets told my mom (the military member) that we couldn’t buy advanced tickets for the MVMCP but that even if it sold out, we could still buy tickets at the window. Have you verified this is correct? Because our party date just sold out.
Hi Stacy,
I have purchased advance party tickets from Shades.
However, the purchase for sold out nights is still a valid option for the military community.
Can you purchase tickets via phone from Shades of Green and pick them up there upon arrival, or do you have to have them shipped to you? And alternatively, will they send them to your WDW resort hotel instead? We leave in 4 days and decided last minute to add the party, but I’d like to get the tix squared away in advance so I don’t have to stress about it.
Hi Susanne,
They used to only let you pick them up so it shouldn’t be a problem I’d think.
Give them a call and you’ll have to email in the forms.

In the past we were able to buy tickets day of at guest relations even if it was sold out. Is that still true?
I called shades of green and they said tickets could only be purchased through them so I am so confused now haha
Hi D,
They definitely have stopped the practice of allowing the military to purchase for sold out nights as Shades of Green has shipped tickets for years now alleviating the need to buy from Disney in person after arrival with the possibility that your date would be sold out before you got there.
As far as I know you can still purchase tickets through Disney in person at the mil rate for nights that are not sold out.
