Lots more comments from our community on the facebook share:
NOTES: Be advised that Disney Cast Members that you can contact probably do not know at all or for sure if or when Disney Corporate will offer a 2022 WDW Salute. They will often speculate or pass out what they have heard (rumor).
The rumor we’ve had passed to us the most often is Mid-November for a release.
The most interesting that came from a Disney cast member is that it is the contract with MWR that is the hold up due to the debt ceiling negotiations.
Also you can contact Disney to express your displeasure.

We are planning a trip for February 2022 and are waiting for the 2022 Salute announcement to purchase tickets. The sooner the better for us because we want to ensure that we have the best availability for park reservation selection.
I have flight in for 12/30 and was planning to stay until 1/5-10. All depends on special ticket prices. If I can’t get the 5 day salute ticket then will spend less. Also waiting for the art festival dates release. It makes no sense when already released for Disneyland.
Current tickets are valid mid February to mid December. We go often. I have never seen salute tix valid in January.
Hi Joyce,
Thanks but you are a little off base. For the entire history of the Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets (back to 2009) they have indeed been valid in January! In the earlier years the first and second of Jan. were sometimes included in the Christmas Bolckout Dates.
Similar Renee—March for us. I emailed
That communications address to try to push things along!
Please release your military discount soon. We would love to come back to Disney with our family but we need the discount! There are 8 of us!
We’re planning for and need to coordinate for 10 family members for first week of January.
This is really getting close!
We are also going the first week in January! I’m getting a little nervous on booking park reservations with no military salute tickets. Please Disney release the Military salute tickets for 2022 so those of us who made plans can afford the tickets!
We are going Jan 2-9, staying in our timeshare property. We have purchased flights. So I am super anxious about tickets! We use the salute annually to go to Disneyland, but this is our first trip to WDW. I sure hope it happens!
We are planning a trip for August 22. We usually stay deluxe with the salute tickets and a dining plan. If there’s no discount, we won’t be going.
We’re planning a trip to Disney for September 2022, but nothing’s set in stone until Disney releases the military discounts for 2022. I’ve got everything ready to go the day it’s announced (assuming it is), but since they haven’t yet, we’re also getting Plan B in motion – going to Universal Studios Orlando instead of Disney World.
We’ve never been to Universal, going instead to Disney every year for the past 8 years. But Disney has been nickel and diming its guests to death with eliminating Magic Express, making the new FastPass system a paid system, no more free Magic Bands, etc and now no military discount. There’s no incentive to stay on property anymore and less and less incentive to even go there at all. This year’s visit was a nightmare trying to get advanced dining reservations at the 60 day mark instead of the usual 180, while also trying to get park reservations as early as possible. Those two requirements don’t play well together. Perhaps it’s time we moved on. If Disney can’t release anything before November, we’ll be switching our loyalties after 8 years. We’ll send our business to a company that appreciates our nation’s military.
Peg, we are having some of the same issues. We have a 10 day trip planned , as we did in 2019 and 2015 (Daddy passed away in 2017 and we were not up to traveling without him). We’ve been coming since 1971 (more than 20 trips and 12 family members over the years) and the military discount has been a blessing time and again. It looks like we will have to postpone our trip from Thanksgiving this year due to health reasons. Knowing what was coming for WDW would allow us to just shift dates rather than plan everything over for a New England or Grand Canyon tour. Watching the Muppets at Haunted Mansion last night, I was thinking how much we love them and wondering just how one sided this relationship is going to be. Best of luck to you.
Universal is a great option to WDW if you are trying to plan in advance and you get so much more for your money there. I’m not sure if many people are aware that in 2021 Universal had an excellent deal for the military. I got an unlimited pass with park to park access for all 3 parks for $235. That was for the entire year, every day, no blackout dates. I did 3 Universal trips this year (zero Disney) and spent less than I would have on 1 Disney trip. The hotels on property are so much more affordable than Disney hotels and offer military discounts as well. The transportation on Universal property is also much quicker and efficient. Universal makes everything so much easier than Disney does. Universal is also adding new attractions and benefits while Disney just keeps taking all our favorite stuff away and charging more.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Disney but they are just making it so stressful, confusing and expensive that I’m not sure it is worth the hassle. If the Armed Forces Salute is discontinued or if it becomes impossible to get reservations because they haven’t released the information then I plan to give up on Disney all together.
I appreciate the Armed Forces Salute, I feel it’s a very kind and helpful boost in making a Disney world trip possible for military families. I am likely canceling our families trip to Disney world now since there is no salute tickets for 2022. And I think Universal & Lego land might be great options instead. It’s sad that this is the year my family and I first decided to go to Disney World.
Well Said!! Everything is so true.. Maybe time to start taking my kids to Universal from now on!
We did universal this year, too for the same reasons stated above. We have hotel reservations for February with plans to do Disney since we haven’t been since before galaxy’s edge opened! And being Star Wars nerds, we very much want to go! But if there’s no military tix release, we’ll look elsewhere this year. Adventure is out there!
Please Please release now – waiting for special rates – if I get a better price on rooms I spend more in parks – more table service dining, more souvenirs, dessert parties – have January 2022 need rates now please
That’s a very good point Kelly!
We are planning a ten day all disney trip for January and are anxiously awaiting the news of salute discounts. We have to go during cooler less crowded months due to my youngest being medically fragile. We usually go in early December and use the discounts to stay at deluxe resorts which better accommodate our need for lots of down time on park days. We definitely cannot afford the lengthy vacation time we need without the discounts. This year my daughter’s college schedule meant we had to plan for January, not December. If the salute doesn’t come through we will have to cancel our trip or dramatically change our itinerary to less Disney and go to Space Coast and Key West where we can use military discounts. My husband is active duty and we have so much leave time accrued because of the pandemic that we have to take some very long trips in 2022 or lose his accrued time. Of course we’d prefer to do Disney more than anything else!
Wow! We have used this discount at Disneyland so many times since it’s start. We were wanting to go to Disney World for the first time in January of 2022. If we have to wait until November to find out if there is a discount?? I don’t think we’ll be able to go
We are coming January 2022. Still no AF salute pricing. Disney, are you forgetting the Military???
I have everything set except tickets!
Same here. We have gone every year for the last 6 years. I have the hotel booked and flights scheduled for January. We are able to go every year because of the Salute tickets. Like others have said we may have to switch to Universal which would be sad for us.
We have been using Disney’s very generous military discount since it began in 2009. It has changed so much since then but still the only way that we’ve been able to afford the MANY visits we’ve taken over the years. We have our next trip booked for March and I’m anxious for a 2022 promotion to be announced. Come on Disney and help us extreme planners out!
Every time we have come to Disney we have used this discount. It will be my daughters first time and she has been constantly asking to go to Disney. We have plans for January 2022. I want to be able to buy my kids everything they want at the parks but without the discount we won’t be able to afford much. Please bring out the discount!!
We count on the AF Salute discount to be able to afford trips to Disney. Disney has cut back on so many other things, I hope they don’t forget the men & women who are serving or who have served their country. That would be disheartening.
So grateful for the Military Salute discounts in the past. We had to cancel our trip last year due to Covid. Really hoping Disney renews the Military Salute for 2022. If not, we may not be able to go again.
We have been to Disney in the past. Always having to go during school breaks. Last time we went it was so crowded that we didn’t get to do much. So I promised my daughter that I would take her for the 50th anniversary. That was 6 years ago. We are. all booked for January and sooo excited but if military discount is not available, we cannot go. Why would Disney forget about the Military???
I understand they at busy with the anniversary but wouldn’t they want more military folks spending money at the parks???
As many others have stated, we depend on the Military Salute discounts for lodging and tickets to be able to afford our trips to Walt Disney World.
We have reservations for 7 days in Jan-Feb 2022 and will be sorely disappointed if we cannot go because the discounts were not offered. We always look forward to the WDW trips with great anticipation because, truly, there is no place like Disney!
We have always appreciated Disney’s recognition of the many sacrifices all military men and women make and hope they will continue to make those offers available to us.
Needing to finalize plans for a March 22 trip with our 5 yr old heart warrior before scheduled surgery. Hoping to hear soon so we can finalize plans..We know Disney’s Armed Forces Salute is not a guarantee, but much appreciated, it has made the trip affordable for our family and a gift our Veteran is able to give his family despite his service related disability.
I am planning a surprise 70th birthday for my mom. We are hoping for these tickets and rooms to be announced soon. Plus it is a last trip before my husband gets deployed again. We love being able to just go and have a great time in Disney. We could not afford it without this special pricing.
We have purchased airline tickets with the expectation that the military prices would have been posted by now. Today is 100 days until our trip to Walt Disney World (Jan 9- 16). The anxiety is getting to be overwhelming. Please Disney release the military rates for rooms and tickets soon. We are depending on this special offer, and appreciate it so much. Thank you.
We are in the same boat Debbie for the exact same week. Talk about a nail biter!!
That’s our week also! I am a planner so I am getting anxious.
We have a trip planned for the end of January. I am taking my parents who really want one more trip with their grandkids as they are getting older and less mobile. This could be our last trip at Disney with my parents so I really wanted to go big and do kind of a bucket list trip. Without the military salute promotion we won’t be able to do all those “extras” at Disney I was hoping to do. Not to mention that now we will probably have to pay a sizable chunk of money or wait 3 hours to ride certain rides like Rise of the Resistance now that Fast Pass is gone. Just sad. Please Disney, continue to honor and reward those who served their country and their families! Please don’t price us out of Disney World!
Yes, we’re here anxiously waiting! We’re booked for late January and need the discount to purchase our tickets. Also hoping to save some $$ on our rooms
Our family relies on military salute tickets to be able to go to Disney. We are planning on an October 2022 trip for our first Halloween party! Come on Disney!
We’ve been so grateful to have these tickets in the past and I certainly hope they are renewed for 2022. We are planning for a trip in January for marathon weekend. Time is starting to get short and I’m worried about getting park reservations for the days we want. I hope Disney comes through soon with a renewal!
We are planning to be in Orlando January 24-29, 2022 and are waiting for the 2022 Salute announcement to purchase tickets. We need to have our park reservation setup ASAP. Please get the information released.
Hi Debbie… we are in the same boat (WDW 1/22-1/25). We decided not to even try to do the military salute tickets this time because of having to book a park reservation. Plus now with Genie+ it sounds even more confusing. We keep hoping for a military discount on our resort room, but I’m even losing hope for that. With the 50th anniversary I think Disney is filling up the rooms so they wouldn’t need to offer the discounts. Fingers crossed for both of us.
Not only are the discount tickets not out..but what about the fantastic solve everything Disney Genie? They are getting rid of the fast pass signs, adding lightning link signs…and that doesnt exist yet. They keep showing all the the new rides which the folks coming at the beginning of the year wont see. They totally were NOT ready for the 50th anniversary. Just release the military tickets…so much easier than the other stuff.
Planning our familes first trip to Disney in March and we are anxiously waiting to see room rates!
My wife and I are ditching the kids at home (SoFla) and heading up there the end of Jan. We were looking at getting the AFS tickets, but timing and costs made it more beneficial for us to get the FL Disney Select 3-day hoppers.
BUT…we are planning on bringing the kids some time in 2022 and are anxiously (not eagerly…ANXIOUSLY) awaiting Disney’s release of the AFS tickets for 2022 (and the resort discounts, too!).
I am very grateful that Disney offers a military discount. It allows our family to be able to visit the parks yearly and sometimes twice a year! Please renew them for 2022!
We are planning a trip in February with the kids and grandkids. We have everything ready even our Disney themed shirts but no military salute tickets. We are afraid we will not get reservations in the park. Please hurry with the military tickets so we can complete our plans.
We are planning our grandsons’ first Disney trip for 2022. Please publish the military salute pricing soon so we can get things reserved.
Anxiously awaiting the release so we can book for next year. We have been going for the past 19 years and almost every year for the last 12. The discount is very generous and it has allowed us to continue our tradition. Thank you.
Disney has always supported the military and families depend on the military salute to be able to go to Disney. Please don’t forget about the community that serves our country. Please announce something soon. We are patiently waiting. I travel to Disney more often and spend more at restaurants and in parks because we save so much with the salute offer.
WE are waiting for the 2022 Military discount and also are they going to offer this on the new Star Wars Starcruiser stay?
Hi Darla,
I would not expect a very high demand item like the Starcruiser to be discounted. Disney uses discounts to drive sales when needed (as do all other companies)
When I tried to return the call from the woman with the Executive Communications Team regarding my email blasting them for not renewing the military discount, I had to try 5-6 times before I could get through. I kept getting a “All circuits are busy. Please try your call again later” message. When I finally got through, the woman said it was because today was the day they started taking reservations for that resort. So Disney’s already swamped with calls for reservations for a resort that hasn’t even opened yet!
We have a vacation planned for Feb 2022. Waiting on the ticket prices to be released for the AF Salute!
Are you getting closer to releasing these Disney??
Our family has used the wonderful military salute tickets several times in the past and we have been so grateful for the program. We have reservations already made for January 2022 and hope that Disney will provide this fantastic benefit again soon!
We are anxiously awaiting the release of the military salute tickets. We have a trip booked in Feb 2022 (my brother is getting married at Disneyworld!) and our family is counting on these tickets.
I sent an email to the link you’d provided and got a call back today from a castmember with the “Executive Correspondence Team.”
She said Disney hasn’t announced any discounts for 2022 yet because of the Disney Dining Plan not being in effect right now. According to her, Disney isn’t going to release military discounts until the announcement of the return of the dining plan because so many military families want to add the dining plan to their package. But she has no idea when that will be.
I warned her that Disney was sending the wrong message to its military community by not releasing the discount & that many are changing plans & going to Universal Studios instead. She said all these comments/suggestions/complaints are forwarded up the chain. So I can’t say strongly enough how important it is that people use the email link you provided to complain to Disney.
Thanks for the report back Peg.
Great info and advice!!!
Really hoping for salute tickets to take my daughter in Feb when she turns 5. She is finally physically strong enough to go (heart defect). Will be so sad if Salute is not offered for 2022.
As many have stated we depend on the Armed Forces Salute Tickets to be able to enjoy the parks. We were also hoping to stay on property this trip
Which is booked January 22-30. I was really hoping the tickets and room discounts would be out already. The more I save on my room and tickets the more I spend in the parks. We love Disney but if we can’t get the deals to help make it affordable we may have to start vacationing else where. Hoping the deals get released soon so we can all make some concrete plans .
Would mean a great deal to our family to be able to go to Disney; but without the discounted tickets, most likely won’t happen. With all that is going on in the world, it sure would bring a lot of happiness if Disney renewed their Military Salute program.
We’re visiting January 5-10 for marathon weekend. This will be my first Dopey Challenge. We have everything except tickets and we’re getting anxious as we know that week will be busy with all of the runners. We’re concerned that we won’t be able to get park reservations if we wait much longer.
Disney – please release the 2022 Military Salute for Disney World. Disneyland has been released. We are taking a group trip in January and the new park reservation system has me quite nervous. Without tickets, I can’t plan those days or get dining reservations as I am not sure which parks we’ll be able to visit. This is an extremely difficult time to plan a Disney trip to begin with…. Either release the info or let us know we won’t be getting a discount so that we can move on with our planning….
trip planned Jan 1-9, need tickets immediately!
We are a family of six on one enlisted salary (wife is a full-time grad student). We are planning a trip to Disney World in January, with each part of the trip budgeted out, including tickets with the Armed Forces Salute.
If the Salute isn’t announced by mid-November, we unfortunately have to cancel the trip as we do not have six full-priced tickets in our budget, and this is going to be our big holiday gift for the kids this year. So if the announcement isn’t made soon, we will have to cancel with plenty of time to purchase other holiday gifts to make up for the lack of the one big thing we were counting on giving them.
Disney, it’s been a rough year for everyone. Our families deserve to be able to depend on this discount for 2022, and with plenty of time to plan ahead since there are new requirements to consider (park reservations etc). Please make the announcement soon so that those of us who are planning early 2022 trips don’t have to cancel. Thank you.
I emailed shades of green about them and they said Disney told them they should have info this month on the tickets they are working on pricing.
Thanks Liz!
Liz please let us know!!!
We were supposed to visit WDW last June 2020 and bought our ticket as early as January 2020. but due to the pandemic, we were not able to go. our ticket was never used. now we have planned on going come January 2022. Hotel/flight is set but we still have no tickets for WDW. it was supposed to be a gift for my son’s graduation. hopefully they release the tickets for military family soon. this is our first time to got and hopefully it does not get cancelled again
Hello everyone! We booked a trip to Disney Jan 2-8 as well as flights-just awaiting the military discounts to come out! I booked our stay at the all star sports hotel but recently received an email from Disney saying the resort won’t be opened at that time and they would contact me 4 weeks prior to our trip to tell me where I am staying. Did this happen to anyone else?
Hi Kayla,
Yes this happened extensively after WDW first re-opened and only a few resorts had re-opened. Happened to me in fact.
They will most likely put you in one of the other two All-Stars which are open.
We have a trip scheduled for March – 12 of us, all depending on the salute tickets for 2022. It’s a nail biter, for sure. It would be great if the tickets would be released so we can start reserving parks and resting a bit easier.
I also have a trip planned for April 2022, I always use the military salute tickets. Planning on doing Disney five days and Universal two days. But if they don’t have the salute tickets for Disney we are going to have to cut out the Universal trip.
Karen i would keep the Universal and cut out some Disney. Got to protest with your wallet.
It’s been a while since we have been to Disney World. Is the Military Salute ticket just extra discount ticket compared to the discount you get on the Disney Your way ticket?
Hi Christine,
Yes the Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets offer a huge savings, where the Military MYW offer a lesser savings.
See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/the-disney-armed-forces-salute-military-ticket-and-room-discounts/
We have our flights and rooms booked for Jan 15 – Jan 22 2022. Like many military families we rely heavily on the Armed forces Salute to be able to afford this trip. Any communication from WDW or expedience would be appreciated.
We count on the the Armed Forces Salute to visit Disney every other year! 2022 was going to be our year!! Please release the discount …. as we were planning on our trip in early January to be the kids big Christmas gift
I’m also waiting…been waiting. I’m getting anxious actually because we already rescheduled our hotel to January 2022 and we’re still waiting on rescheduling or getting new dates for our park tickets for 2022. I’ve been putting off on buying our plane tickets since we haven’t had our park tickets rescheduled yet. I hope Disney will announce the new rates soon.
With our early January trip fast approaching, gave up waiting (hoping) for a military salute announcement and opted to purchase Stars and Stripes from SOG. More than we initially planned for, but still less than tickets at the gate. Now I can begin planning our park reservations! So excited and going to have a great time!
We are planning a trip for January 2022 and it will not be possible without the Armed Forces Salute. Unfortunately if we can’t make this trip in January, we will not be able to again. My mother and father are both Vietnam vets (Navy). My mother is in heart failure and my dad, having survived cancer twice, will not be with us many more years. My husband is a combat disabled Iraq vet, and we are planning to bring our two small children, and my in-laws as well. This trip was postponed a year due to COVID-19 and unfortunately cannot be postponed again. Please, WDW, bring back the discount and honor those who have given so much for all of us.
I’m being my wife and daughter who will be turning 4 while visiting the parks all the way from Germany. They are both crazy about Disney and if not for COVID we would have gone prior to moving. Now our expense over tripled now that we’re here. We greatly depend on this amazing discount.
Disney, please release the Military Salute discounted tickets now! We have a cheerleader going to competition in Feb,, and we are all excited to be able to go with her….but it all depends on us getting those discount tickets. Please ease our frustration and angst worrying about missing out on parks because it was too late to make reservations. Thanks! My husband is a 27 year veteran, and we raised our 4 children going to Disney since the day you opened.
Have our resort booked for the first week of Feb. We are trying to hold out for on tickets for as long as possible while still ensuring we are able to get park reservations and able to get dining reservations 60 days out. It is making the trip much more stressful waiting to see if we will have to budget more last minute for tickets.
We have our trip planned for mid February. Hotel is booked and paid for, we are waiting anxiously for these ticket updates/prices so I can reserve our park dates. I sure hope Disney can share news soon!
Same here 10-17. I’ve called multiple times. No new info in sight. I am hoping not to cancel. This is rough!
As a Vietnam combat vet and USAF retiree, who went through the general public’s disdain for my service when I returned, I truly appreciate the consideration Disney has shown to all eligible vets who served with distinction, bravery, and honor in a combat zone or not. Please continue this exceptional Salute offer so those who’ve served and are serving can enjoy the special experience the Disney discount offers by truly saying “thanks for your service”. I’ve used it and would have spent far less time at Disney World in the past few years without it.
I wholeheartedly agree. Our trips are usually too long for the salute tickets to be less expensive, but the room discount is the reason my kids see mickey every year.
Please release salute tickets soon , we have 10 tickets in hand but trying to save a little money and need 6 more tickets for our family of 16 . We really need the last tickets to be the salute tickets . After 33 years of service we use any military discount we can find . Going January 8th so in 3 weeks Ed should be able to make our reservations but can’t with out the last 6 family members . Patiently waiting . PLEASE.
I am planning a trip for our family in March 2022. It is a trip we had planned in 2019 but had to cancel. My husband a retired Navy veteran passed away from service related injuries. We are a Disney parks and cruise loving family.
I hope the military discounts are announced soon.
We can’t imagine the stress levels and disappoint of all of you on here who are trying to visit WDW in January and February. We really feel for all of you. We are planning a trip to WDW in May to take our granddaughter for her 7th birthday, a trip we have wanted to take for the past year and a half. We are so stressed about not being able to get this planned, not being able to afford to do the big trip with special birthday surprises at the parks and resorts, and just not being able to have the full Disney experience that we have always wanted to give her on her first trip.
We really hope that Disney won’t forget about our military families. Our friends often ask how we afford to build light sabers and droids, do princess dinners or whatever extras we decide to do on our trips and I have always been so proud to tell people how they have such great offers for military families and that is how we are able to take the spectacular trips that we do. Sadly, we feel the magic fading and I truly hope Disney will not let that happen, especially for our military families. We have all sacrificed so much and I hope that Disney will be honored and excited by the fact that we want to spend some of our limited family time in their parks. Please Disney, don’t forget about us and the safety and stability we provide this country.
Dear Disney. I have resort reservations for February 2022. Waiting for Armed Forces Salute tickets. Please release prices. My nerves can’t take this
My husband has been deployed since March and doesn’t return until February and to celebrate his return we are going to Disney right after he gets back. This discount is the reason why we were able to come to Disney. Really hoping Disney comes through with this discount sooner rather than later so we can make our accommodations accordingly.
Taking my grandkids to Disney–HOping for the salute discount. Please make it available.
My son’s 21st birthday is early February next year. We were really hoping to celebrate at WDW. He is active duty Navy in San Diego. I really hope the discount becomes available soon!
We are planning two different trips, End of Feb -March and again middle of April Disney trips and are anxiously awaiting the news of salute discounts. Working with the Grandkid’s Easter break schedules for our annual trip to the Disney World. So not much room for scheduling trips.
Normally we have been able finalize arrangements by now. Need the tickets to schedule the parks, not to mention the hotel rooms.
Let’s get moving!
we are planning a january disney trip with our grandchildeen and the discount would really be helpful so we can make reservations
First, I would like to thank Disney for more than a decade of discounted tickets. Because of your generous support of the military, I have been able to take family and friends to your parks almost everyone of those years.
Second, this year I am taking my sister and her family to visit WDW during January 2022. That is just a few months away so please let the military community that loves WDW know what your decision is regarding the AF Salute tickets.
Third, we need to plan and budget like everyone else that makes these expensive vacations. Please let us know soon.
We are planning on going Jan 10th and been waiting to hear. Getting very anxious!
I emailed Disney last week and got a response a couple of days ago. As expected it was not helpful. It was a non-answer basically saying they don’t have any information yet on if it will be renewed or if so when it will be announced. Just a stay tuned message. But hopefully it gets tallied somewhere and if enough people ask about it maybe it will encourage them to renew and hurry up with it.
Really disappointed in Disney. Usually they are very pro military and have excellent customer service, but with all the changes it feels like the customer is last & with no military salute announcement feels like the military is specifically under appreciated. Shame on you Disney – do better! We are supposed to be there in January for a soccer tournament but may switch to Universal instead – where they appreciate the military AND our money.
My last trip to WDW from California was October 2019. I have been 6 times since 2007, with Disneyland inbetween (going Nov 17-21 , 2021). My FIRST DL trip was in 1965. Planning 8 days in October 2022 and Dec 2023. Military discounts make these trips possible. I am 71 retired army. Always stay at a WDW resort ( various ones) get the meal plan too, who knows if that will be back. Disneyland 4 day park hoppers are less percentage off than previous years but still a good deal. I get tickets through MWR. MWR tickets are available and good through Dec something 2022, again discounts not as much. Resort discount almost do not exhist for military, I am sure the 2-3 rooms available at each resor fill up quickly not like before when the discount was always. OK ENOUGH BASHING , BUT Disney care about $$$$$ no longer people.
We have been avid Disney fans since WDW opened. The way Disney has been increasing prices and taking away perks or making you pay has really soured me and my extended family on going to WDW. We are planning on a trip in June 2022 with daughter and her family and need the military salute tickets to make it affordable because of all the price increases and changes since COVID. Why have Disneyland tickets been announced but NOT WDW? What’s the rationale? This is just one more reason why we may cut our loyalty to Disney and look elsewhere to spent our vacation dollars.
Add another family waiting for the military discount tickets!! We are planning a family reunion with our two adult children and their spouses in February 2022. We haven’t seen our son since he moved to Alberta, Canada in Feb 2019. We have our hotel reservation, but are waiting for tickets, hopefully in time to make our dining reservations in mid December.
Thank you for keeping us up to date!!
My husband is 85 years old, a Navy Veteran, having served 29 years. We are DVC members since 2007 and have made numerous trips with all or part of our family to Disney World + Hawaii Aulani and Disneyland. These trips for 11 to 13 people cost a lot, especially for airfare! We were slow in discovering the salute discounts, but it was a tremendous help for Disneyland. We have an end of January trip planned, and are nervous about getting into the parks at this late date. We hope you will understand how important this is to our planning and peace of mind. Thank you! Proud to be a Navy wife!
We are planning our trip for March. Every year we spend at least 5 days at Disney. Due to the late notice on Military tickets, We have no choice but to skip Disney this year. Receiving the discount tickets has always been a blessing. Please don’t forget about the brave men and women who sacrificed and served this great country.
Hi – I just wanted to say that unless the Salute tickets are offered for 2022, our planned trip in February will not happen. These tickets and a family member’s timeshare are the only way we can make this 1st trip happen.
This would be our first trip to Disney and we are hoping to take our daughter for her 5th birthday in January 2022. We are anxiously awaiting news about this as we need the discount!!
Please Disney just let us know either way so we can plan accordingly!
We want to plan a January trip, but not knowing if there will be a military discount – this is cutting it close for us. Disney, if you know you are not going to
offer a military benefit, would you be so kind as to tell us that? It is frustrating to be kept dangling.
Same here. We have gone every year for the last 6 years. I have the hotel booked and flights scheduled for January. We are able to go every year because of the Salute tickets. Like others have said we may have to switch to Universal which would be sad for us.
With the current CEO, I am extremely discouraged that he will not want to give us a discount. He, so far, has proven to be money driven and cutting back on what we use to get free (or very well priced for us). He does not seem to be concerned about the common person, just how to make more money.
I’ve now had two different cast members tell me the same thing, so maybe there’s something to this. According to both of them, on different phone calls, Disney is planning to renew the Salute discount, but MWR is holding things up (not Disney). MWR hasn’t finalized pricing because of that whole mess with the debt ceiling and whether or not it would be raised.
I can’t verify the accuracy of this information, but I’m a little more confident on this explanation than any of the others I’ve heard so far since two independent sources told me the same thing. Either way, I’ve canceled my Sept 2022 trip and bumped it up to this year instead. Advantage there is that at least we’ll still get the Magical Express.
Hi there Peg,
Thanks for the intel!!!
Who knows, could be accurate.
Once in the distant Salute past (2010-2-11) it was the MWR contract that held things up. Back then The Salutes ran on Disney’s fiscal years (different than federal fiscal years as they end at the end of Disney’s work week vs the end of Sept) and the 201- Salute ended near the end of Sept 2010. Then nothing… Until the 3rd of Oct. when Disney began the Room Salute Offer for another year. The Ticket Salute Offer did not begin until 22 Oct.
It seems there was a hold up with the ticket contract on the MWR end, so Disney went ahead and released the room offer as it is separate and not offered in conjunction with MWR.
I received a call back from WDW customer office after sending an email. I was told the hold up is with their “military partners” and not WDW.
Thanks Sandra,
You’re the second to relate this to me.
However, I do not believe that MWR sets pricing for Disney.
Unless it is really the MWR system giving us the discount and not Disney…. Hmmmm
We are planning our trip for January 5-12, 2022. I have been taking each grandchild to WDW on a Two of Us special trip when they get to be around 10 years old. The Military Salute tickets have been a godsend the last couple of times when the grandkids are so close together in age. I am getting ready to take the 5th of 6th grandkids, but this one is timid with rides, so the whole family is coming including their granddad!! We decided, thinking we would have the Military Salute tickets, to gift for Christmas, the rest of the family their tickets…so without the Military Salute, and needing to purchase 6 tickets, I am not sure we can afford to go by the time we get our lodging, airfare, food and park reservations (yes I know there is no cost to reserve, but the availability needs to be there) and tickets. I was hoping to get word in September, and now it is the beginning of November and no word yet so that I can do all the planning that is needed. Please let us know as quickly so that we can decide to move forward or not….this is not fair to keep us hanging 60 days out from our proposed trip. I can only plan for what I can easily cancel without penalties.
We have reservations for Jan 24, 2022 through Feb 8, 2022 at an air bnb, as well as plane and car reservations and a double stroller for the little ones. We cannot make our park or dining reservations without the Military Salute tickets which we have been using for almost 10 years. Please, please, please. Disney, use a little pixie dust to release the Salute prices so we can have our Magical Days.
I may have completely missed the location to do so, but is there somewhere to put my information in to be notified once the military rates have been released? Thanks!!
Hi Gracie,
Yes at the end of every post on this sit eyou can sign up for the newsletter. I send out a notice when the Salute is renewed.
Hoping that they release the rates soon.Trying to plan our Annual reunion.
Curious if a delayed renewal will cause any issues with the new reservation system. For people planning on trips in January, will there be any reservations available to grab in January if the Salute isn’t announced until mid-November?
Hello, Jack,
January is mostly the slowest period, so hopefully not.
We also are planning a trip in January, flights and lodging are booked. Anxiously awaiting release of the salute tickets so we can make our trip happen. Like many others have said, the military pricing on these ticket packages is the only way we can financially make our vacation happen.
We’re counting on you Disney! I have a mid-February trip planned, but I don’t know how its going to work without the Salute tickets. Heck, I don’t really know how it works right now anyway. I haven’t been since 2019 and don’t quite understand this reservation thing. I reserve the park I go to now? This is separate from Fast Pass? (Which I think is gone? Sort of?)
Hi Patrick,
Yes you reserve the park you want to spend or start your day in or you can’t get in. Park Hopping is at 2 at WDW (1 at Disneyland).
FastPass never came back after the closures. Disney Genie+ a paid service similar to the old paper fastpasses just started with a extra premium paid tier for the best rides. Without paying it’s totally standby lines.

Hoping they release offer soon if they are going to renew it. We are scheduled, flights and accommodations booked, for the second week in January. Dual veteran household and active son-in-law will be deploying for a year early spring so we are taking a family vacation before he leaves. I did email the link and called as well. Cast member told me it is in the military’s hands as of right now. It certain if that is true or not, I just hope it gets released soon either way it goes. It’s getting a little too close for comfort, I need to get tickets and make reservations. Would be a shame to go all that way and not be able to get into the parks.
We stay at the campsites at Fort Wilderness Our reservations are for January. We have to make the reservations a year in advance. We then have to wait to get our tickets. We need those tickets to make park reservations and hopefully make reservations for a popular restaurant.
Disney please offer the salute tickets. We have paid for our resort rooms, airfare, and transportation. We are to be there in late January.
We are anxiously awaiting for April 2022 tickets! We have booked hotels (we couldn’t stay at Shades straight through due to the spring break crowd and have been checking daily for hotel reservations to change). With all hotels filling up I’m worried the park reservations will fill up also and we will not get the opportunity to purchase tickets or make park reservations! This is also a Christmas gift to my in-laws. I hope for them to join us on our family’s Disney vacation! I’m getting nervous!
For those worrying about park pass reservations – we were originally planning on going to Disney next fall, but since Disney hasn’t released any discounts, we bumped our trip up to the first week in December this year. I don’t bet on long shots, preferring the sure thing instead. Anyway, it was only a week ago that we changed plans, and I just got out tickets from Shades of Green two days ago. And I haven’t had any problem with park availability, even in December (though Christmas and New Years are booking up). So depending on how much longer (if at all) it takes Disney to release the discount for 2022, you should be good for January & most of February. The end may be problematic, though, because of Presidents’ Day and Run Disney.
SOG has posted discount for 2022! Available November 16!
Just got off the phone with Shades of Green. Armed Forces Salute tickets for 2022 should be available by the end of November!!! They are accepting pre-order forms within a week.
I would say I’m patiently waiting but I am very impatient! We are planning to go in February 2022 but need the military passes to make it happen. Please Disney, announce the 2022 passes!
We are booked for the end of February. We have everything set up except for tickets! My husband has be deployed and gone these last two years and really just want an amazing vacation with our kids. AF salute tickets are the the only affordable way to make this happen. Please release them soon so I can make park reservations!
Come on Disney. I have a surprise trip planned for the kids since their father is coming home. We are trying to go I. February. Please release the tickets.
Our family of 5 just made the difficult decision to cancel/change our early January trip. We were very much looking forward to a week at Disney, but it’s just getting too close to our vacation window and we just couldn’t wait any longer to book something. Disney hotels are very full already early next year, especially value resorts…..if we didn’t book flights now we would risk getting a decent flight window and prices rising….. we have to put in for vacation time at work. Unfortunately Disney is only affordable to us because of the discounted tickets. We have decided to move forward with a vacation to Myrtle Beach for 1 week instead. It’s really unfortunate Disney isn’t providing any information on this.
We have used the military discount in the past and are so appreciative of it!! I truly believe us military families deserve the discount!! Our families sacrifice so much and because of the generous ticket discount, many of us are now able to spend our together time in such a magical place like Disney World!! Yes, it’s a business and I understand that. And I understand that Disney lost a lot of money because of COVID but haven’t we all!! Unfortunately, with all the added costs now being associated with the Disney World trip, and with the removal of free options such as Fast Pass, the trip is getting out of the reach for many of us. I know the GeniePlus is optional and not a necessity, we absolutely will not be purchasing it because we feel the admission price is enough already! Sadly, if the ticket discounts aren’t announced soon, we will have to cancel our January trip. We can’t afford to wait and be penalized by our hotel for canceling too late. We booked the trip assuming Disney was going to honor the military with the discount once again but it’s not looking too promising. Which is very sad 🙁 Sure hope Disney reconsiders and soon!!
