A classic cocktail. A lot of opinions. And a few clear standouts.
There are few drinks as simple — and as debated — as the Old Fashioned. Bourbon (or rye), sugar, bitters, citrus. That’s it. Which is exactly why it’s so easy to get wrong.
Over the years, I’ve talked with experienced Disney guests, serious bourbon fans, and fellow Old Fashioned enthusiasts — and I’ve done plenty of personal “research” myself. Certain locations consistently rise to the top. Others divide the room. And a few drinks have developed near-legend status.
Here’s how it all shakes out.
Best Old Fashioned by Area
EPCOT
EPCOT can be surprisingly divisive when it comes to Old Fashioneds. Some builds lean sweeter than purists prefer, while others are thoughtful and creative.
GEO-82 — The Brown Butter Old Fashioned is the most talked-about version in EPCOT. It’s bold, rich, and memorable — definitely not traditional, but uniquely Disney.
La Cava del Tequila — The Corn Old Fashioned surprises many guests. It offers a savory edge while still respecting the structure of the drink.
Space 220 — The Black Hole Fashioned earns praise for both presentation and balance. It’s theatrical without sacrificing quality.
If you’re a strict purist, some seasoned guests even suggest heading toward the BoardWalk area for a more classic build.
Disney Springs
If Old Fashioneds are your priority, Disney Springs is arguably the best hunting ground on property. The cocktail programs and whiskey selections here make a difference.
The Edison — For a classic, spirit-forward Old Fashioned, this is one of the most consistently praised options. The smoked presentation adds drama without overwhelming the drink.
The BOATHOUSE — Balanced and well executed, with seasonal versions that get especially strong reviews.
The Polite Pig — Bourbon lovers appreciate the deep whiskey list. The Sweet Tea Old Fashioned is popular, but the real advantage here is building your drink with a premium base spirit.
Morimoto Asia — A refined option praised for balance and elevated technique.
Enzo’s Hideaway — The Hazelnut Old Fashioned has developed a loyal following and leans slightly dessert-forward.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios may not have the deepest cocktail bench, but it has some reliable contenders.
The Hollywood Brown Derby — Especially at the lounge, this is one of the most consistent Old Fashioneds in the parks — clean build, good balance, classic feel.
Tune-In Lounge — When the right bartender is working, this can be an excellent traditional option.
Best Resort Old Fashioneds
Resort lounges are often overlooked — and that’s a mistake. If you’re serious about a properly built Old Fashioned, some of the best versions live outside the parks.
Belle Vue Lounge — Quiet, classic, and refined. A relaxed place to enjoy a properly balanced cocktail.
Flying Fish — A strong bourbon selection and skilled bartenders make this a standout dinner pairing option.
AbracadaBar — Creative cocktail program and a deep whiskey list. The entire BoardWalk area is quietly one of the best Old Fashioned corridors on property.
Crew’s Cup Lounge — Low-key, comfortable, and known for solid pours and quality spirits.
If you’re planning an Old Fashioned crawl, the BoardWalk area might actually outperform the parks.
Best Overall Old Fashioned on Property
Looking at repeated praise — and my own tastings — these rise to the top:
- Best Traditional Build: The Edison
- Best Creative Disney Twist: GEO-82 – Brown Butter Old Fashioned
- Best Bourbon Selection / Custom Build: The Polite Pig
- Most Consistently Praised Overall: The BOATHOUSE
If I had to send a fellow Old Fashioned fan to one single location? Disney Springs would be my safest bet — starting with The Edison or The BOATHOUSE.
What Disney Fans Actually Care About
Ice Quality
A large clear cube makes a noticeable difference in dilution and presentation.
Balance
Too much syrup or cherry juice is the most common complaint.
No Muddled Fruit (For Purists)
Many experienced drinkers prefer a clean build: spirit, sugar, bitters — no muddled orange.
Whiskey Selection
Bars with deeper bourbon or rye lists consistently rank higher.
Consistency
A skilled bartender can elevate even a simple recipe.
If You Want to Order Like a Pro
If you’re picky about your Old Fashioned, a few small requests go a long way:
- Ask for no muddled fruit if you prefer a traditional build
- Request a large clear cube if available
- Specify bourbon or rye preference
- If it leans sweet, ask for a touch more bitters
Ask About the Disney-Exclusive Knob Creek
Walt Disney World has carried a Knob Creek Single Barrel Select (Disney Parks & Resorts) — a 120-proof single-barrel bourbon selected specifically for Disney locations. It isn’t widely available outside the resort environment, which makes it a fun “insider” upgrade for an Old Fashioned.
Not every bar carries it, but Disney Springs locations and select resort lounges are your best bet. I personally enjoy it as a base spirit — it adds depth and structure without overpowering the cocktail.
When in doubt, just ask your bartender if they have the Disney Knob Creek barrel available that day.
Final Thoughts
The Old Fashioned is simple. And at Walt Disney World, that simplicity separates the good from the great.
There isn’t one universal winner — but there are clear leaders depending on whether you prefer traditional, creative, bourbon-forward, or refined.
If you’re a fellow Old Fashioned fan, I’d love to hear your favorite.
