The Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discounts can offer great savings for your Disney Vacation!
It is important to remember though that starting in 2018 these military room discounts became variable rather than a set percentage off as they were previously.
Prior to 2018 the Disney Military room discounts were 30% off Value Resorts, 35% off Moderate Resorts, and 40% off Deluxe resorts. The discount is offered “Based on availability,” so the discount was either these amounts off or zero when not available.
Since 2018 the military room discount began to vary in percentage off from zero the previous amounts. The discount could be anywhere in between based on availability.
You can read more about the specifics of how this works here, but the percentage varies based on date, resort, and room type.
Disney’s General Public Discounts
Disney offers various discounts to the general public on a rolling basis throughout the year. These discounts can vary from 10% to 30% off to anyone (based on resort category) and 20% to 40% for Disney Passholders. These are also based on availability and as dates fill up they drop to zero on those dates.
These percentages do not vary, they are a set percentage!
I keep track of the General Public Room Discounts here.
Always Compare!
You should always price your Disney room both with the Disney Armed Forces Salute and any available General Public Discounts!
Note: in both cases the further in advance you try the better chance you have of getting a discount and in the case of the military one getting a higher percentage.
How to Check Rates
The general public rates can be check right on the Disney World and Disneyland websites. This will give you a starting point to compare to.
The Disney Armed Forces Salute rates can only be checked by calling Disney or though your travel agent! If you use a travel agent, they can do all of this comparison for you! I recommend Ears of Experience!!!
If your goal is the lowest price, keep in mind that you should be open to varying dates, the resort, and the room type to see what is the best price that you can get!
I often find my passholder discount to be better than the Salute discount that is available.
