Veteran Discounts for Disney, Universal, and Other Theme Parks

One of the perks of staying on Disney property is all of the Disney Resort Hotel’s proximity to the theme parks, but you don’t want to book a hotel close to Animal Kingdom if you’re planning to spend all of your time in the Magic Kingdom!

You’ll want one of the Walt Disney World Monorail Resorts.

What is the Monorail?

Walt Disney World has a monorail system that provides transportation for guests around the resort. The monorail system consists of three separate lines: the Magic Kingdom line, the Epcot line, and the Resort line.

The Magic Kingdom express line runs directly from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) to the Magic Kingdom park, without any stops in between.

The Resort line runs around the loop with stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

The Epcot line runs from the TTC to EPCOT.

The monorail system provides a convenient and unique way to travel around Walt Disney World, and is a popular attraction in and of itself. Guests can enjoy the views of the resorts and parks from the monorail, and the monorail trains are a beloved part of the Disney experience.

What are the Monorail Resorts?

There are 3 resorts on the Magic Kingdom side of the Monorail. They are also some of Walt Disney World’s most deluxe resorts. They include Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a deluxe resort located in Walt Disney World in Florida. It is themed after the grand resorts of the Victorian era and features a luxurious atmosphere, with elegant furnishings and decor.

The resort offers a range of accommodations, including standard rooms, suites, and villas. All rooms are well-appointed and include amenities such as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options at the resort, including the award-winning Victoria & Albert’s, a AAA Five Diamond restaurant. Other dining options include Citricos, Narcoossee’s, and the Grand Floridian Cafe.

In addition to its dining options, the resort also features a variety of amenities, including a full-service spa, two swimming pools, a white-sand beach, and a marina where guests can rent watercraft.

Overall, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a luxurious and elegant option for guests looking for a high-end Disney vacation experience. We’re huge fans of the subtle and elegant Disney touches throughout the resort.

The Grand Floridian is about a 20 minute walk from the Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a deluxe resort located in Walt Disney World in Florida. The resort is designed to transport guests to the tropical paradise of the South Pacific, with lush landscaping, waterfalls, and tiki torches throughout the property.

The resort offers a range of accommodations, including standard rooms, suites, and villas. All rooms are decorated in a Polynesian theme and include amenities such as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options at the resort, including ‘Ohana, a popular family-style restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a lively tiki bar with creative cocktails and appetizers. Other dining options include Kona Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Capt. Cook’s, a quick-service restaurant that offers a variety of grab-and-go options.

In addition to its dining options, the resort also features a variety of amenities, including two swimming pools, a white-sand beach, a marina where guests can rent watercraft.

Overall, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort offers a relaxing and immersive tropical escape, with plenty of dining and recreational options for guests of all ages. It’s a great choice for families, couples, and anyone looking to add some Polynesian flair to their Disney vacation.

You can walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian and on to the Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a deluxe resort located in Walt Disney World in Florida. The resort is a modernist masterpiece, featuring an iconic A-frame structure that is instantly recognizable to fans of Disney.

The resort offers a range of accommodations, including standard rooms, suites, and villas. All rooms are modern and well-appointed, with amenities such as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options at the resort, including California Grill, a rooftop restaurant that offers stunning views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and Chef Mickey’s, a character dining experience where guests can meet Mickey and his friends while enjoying a buffet-style meal. Other dining options include The Wave…of American Flavors, a farm-to-table restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Contempo Cafe, a quick-service restaurant that offers a variety of grab-and-go options.

In addition to its dining options, the resort also features a variety of amenities, including two swimming pools, a white-sand beach, a marina where guests can rent watercraft.

Overall, Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers a sleek and modern take on the Disney vacation experience, with plenty of dining and recreational options for guests of all ages. It’s a great choice for families, couples, and anyone looking for a uniquely Disney hotel experience.
