The EPCOT Resorts

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts

When considering a resort near EPCOT in Walt Disney World, several options stand out, each offering its own unique blend of proximity, luxury, convenience, and amenities. Taking a quick peek,  Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resort hotels shine as prime choices, boasting proximity to EPCOT’s World Showcase entrance. Their elegant ambiance and access to the resort’s renowned Stormalong Bay pool complex make them popular among guests seeking a deluxe experience.

Additionally, the Swan and Dolphin hotels offer a convenient location within walking distance of both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, ideal for those looking to explore multiple parks effortlessly. The BoardWalk Inn also presents a charming option with its lively boardwalk area featuring dining, entertainment, and scenic views.

All of the above resorts are within easy walking distance of EPCOT’s rear entrance, the International Gateway.

The Epcot International Gateway

While not within walking distance, Disney offers more resort hotels that are a quick Disney Skyliner ride away, these resorts are the Caribbean Beach Resort which provides a tropical retreat with a relaxing atmosphere. The Disney Riviera Resort offers a touch of European elegance, while the Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts offer a lower price point with plenty of Disney theming.

Disney’s Friendships also provide transportation to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Here at MDT, we have a lot of posts describing many different walking routes at Walt Disney World, check out this one on the walk between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Crescent Lake where the Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, and Swan and Dolphin are located.

What is the Disney Skyliner?

EPCOT's International Gateway from the Disney Skyliner

EPCOT’s International Gateway from the Disney Skyliner

Walt Disney World’s Skyliner is a gondola system that connects Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resorts with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot’s International Gateway.

The stations are located as follows:

  • Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts Station – This station is located on the bridge between the 2 resorts
  • Caribbean Beach Resort – This station services the southern portion of the Caribbean Beach and is the Main Station; here transfers are required for those arriving who desire to continue to another destination.
  • The Riviera Resort – This station services the Rivera and the northern portion of the Caribbean Beach. This station serves as both a turn point and a loading and unloading station
  • Hollywood Studios – Outside the Entrance
  • Epcot’s International Gateway – This station serves both EPCOT and the nearby EPCOT Deluxe Resorts

The Skyliner provides guests with quick, efficient transportation between these destinations.

What are the Skyliner  Resorts?

All of the resorts discussed in this post are Skyliner Resorts! They all have a Skyliner station or are within a short walk from a station.

Overall, when aiming for proximity to EPCOT, these resorts offer a range of options to suit various preferences and budgets, ensuring a magical stay near the heart of the Disney magic.

The Skyliner/EPCOT Resorts fall into all 3 of Disney World’s Resort Categories:

  • Deluxe – Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin
  • Moderate – Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Value – Disney’s Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts

What About the Friendships?

What’s a Friendship, you ask?

Friendships are Disney watercraft taxis that ply the waters of the World Showcase Lagoon, Crescent Lake, and the waterway to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Friendships operate in 2 separate areas:

  • The World Showcase Lagoon – ferrying guests from the front to the rear of the World Showcase  and back
  • Crescent Lake and the waterway to Disney’s Hollywood Studios – taking guests between EPCOT’s International Gateway, the EPCOT Deluxe Resorts, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For this post, we’re interested in the latter. The Friendships provide free, efficient travel between the EPCOT Resorts on Crescent Lake, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT’s International Gateway.

The Boats stop at these docks in this order:

  • EPCOT’s International Gateway
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
  • Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
  • Between Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Between Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts
  • Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Choosing Your Walt Disney World Resort

Let’s dive into a world where colors burst and characters come to life at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. This resort is not just a place to stay; it’s a whimsical journey through some of Disney’s most beloved animated films. From the moment you step foot into the lobby, you’re greeted by vibrant sketches and scenes that feel like they’ve leaped straight out of classics like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars.

But the magic doesn’t stop there! Each section of the resort is themed to one of these films, with larger-than-life statues and playfully decorated rooms that immerse you in the story. Imagine waking up in Ariel’s undersea world or stepping outside to find yourself on Radiator Springs’ Route 66. It’s a dream come true for both kids and the young at heart.
