The theme at Walt Disney World’s Pop Century Resort is the fads of the 1950s through the 1990s!
Each individual building has its own theme which is from a different decade: 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Large 25-40 foot tall icons (statues) decorate the exterior of each building. You’ll see giant yo-yos, Play-Doh, Rubik’s Cube, and rollerblades to name a few.
Note: there was originally going to be a second section of Pop Century featuring the 00s through the 40s, but the downturn in the travel industry after 9/11 caused its construction, which had just started, to cease for many years. Pop Century’s opening was delayed for years even though this first half had been finished. Construction on the second half was later restarted as the new Art of Animation Resort.
Guest Rooms
Pop Century room with Murphy Bed/Table Combo
All Star rooms offer 2 double beds, which sleep four. A crib may be requested for children under 3 years old. All the All-Stars have now completed a multi-year remodel, which had its good and bad points. A small number of single King rooms are also available.
All-Star Music King Room
The good is the addition of a Queen Murphy bed/table combo and a platform queen bed. These take the place of 2 traditional queens. This make for a roomier room, with luggage and other stuff stored under the queen and the Murphy up there is more floor space thank in the past and a coffee maker finally became an All-Star feature.
Pop Century Room Murphy Bed Down
The bad is the removal of any individuality in the different All-Star Resort’s room theming. A room on Sports looks identical to one in Movies with only small framed artwork changes between the two. The rooms at Pop Century are also nearly identical.
Pop Century Dresser and Coffee Bar
Features include a table and two chairs, dresser, TV, coffee maker and small fridge, ironing board and dryer, small safe, and hair dryer. Ample plugs and USB charging ports are available.
The bathroom proper is off of the single sink vanity area and separated by a door. The vanity area has a sliding barn type door to keep light from the vanity area beaming those still trying to sleep.
The All-Star Music 2022 non-discounted room prices start at $123 including tax.
Rooms sleep up to 4 people, with 2020 non-discounted room prices starting at $152 including tax.

Typical All-Star Food Court – All-Star Music
Menus change for all three meals. Breakfast items are standard (eggs, meats, Mickey waffles), lunch features sandwiches and burgers, while for dinner you can have items like pot roast, nachos, rotisserie chicken, or shrimp and cheesy grits. Mobile Ordering Available.

Transportation
Bus transportation is available to all Disney World guest areas. Those heading to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs and the Water Parks will use the bus system. Buses to Epcot and Hollywood Studios can be limited or do not run during Skyliner operating hours.
Pop Century is one of the resorts that has the Disney Skyliner gondola system for transportation to Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios. The Skyliner Station sits on the bridge over Hourglass Lake. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort sits on the other side of the lake. The Skyliner will whisk you to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT.
The Pop Century/Art of Animation Skyliner Station is an end of line station. From here you can only ride to the Caribbean Beach Station, where you must get off.
When heading to the theme parks during the morning rush, you will have to wait in 2 lines. First at your Pop/AoA Station and then when you arrive at the Caribbean you will go to the back of the line waiting there!
The Caribbean Beach is the main Skyliner hub. From there you can board either of the other 2 lines which go to:
- Disney Hollywood Studios
- The Riviera Resort and Epcot
Overnight Parking is $15.00 per night at the Disney World Values. Note this charge is initiated for all nights of your stay either by telling the front desk that you have a vehicle when checking in or by using your room key/Magic Band to enter the parking lot. If you will not be parking every night (say you have a rental car for just a dat or so) coordinate this with the front desk.
Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station
Note – The Pop Century Resort is located right next door to the Art of Animation Resort, take the short walk to see the neat exterior decorations at AoA or try the Landscape of Flavors Food Court, which has different options than Pop’s food court.
Our Thoughts
MDT Most Favorite |
This Disney Resort Hotel is a Military Disney Tips Most Favorite Resort! |
Pop Century is our favorite Value. This was true even before the Skyliner station opened up. We like that it’s newer than the All-Stars, the food court food seems somewhat better, plus Art of Animation is a short walk away and the food there is definitely better.
This is my preferred Value for solo (economy) research trips.
