Walt Disney was a very patriotic man.
Proud of and confident in the American spirit. He looked forward to what we could achieve and back at what we had achieved. Disney’s theme parks are filled with homages to that spirit. From the lands within the parks: Main Street USA, Liberty Square, and Frontierland; to the attractions and restaurants they contain: The American Adventure, The Hall of Presidents, the Columbia Harbor House, and the Liberty Tree Tavern.
This is a new category of posts about all things having a Patriotic Disney theme. I and guest posters will cover all things patriotic about Disney, from Walt himself, to his works, and of course the theme parks. I hope that you enjoy these posts.

I am a US Navy reservist currently on active duty in Afghanistan. I will be taking my R&R 15 day leave in February and will be spending it at Disney World. I would like to find out how I can participate in both the flag ceremony @ 5pm and the disney parade ceremony. My family would love it and I would be honored to be involved.

Hi Rob,
I’m a reservist too. I recently wrote a post on Disney World’s retreat ceremony, you used to be able to volunteer bot now Disney selects. Check out the post and then the comment at the bottom from Beth for a recent in-park success.
As far as the parade that’s random too, you could try asking about that too…
This is awesome!
