Announcing the 2021 Walt Disney World Armed Forces Salute Ticket Offer!
Military Disney Tips has received intel that Walt Disney World will soon be announcing that they will once again be offering the hugely popular Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets for all of 2021.
Update: 15 February 2021 – Disney formally announced the tickets today. All info reported below remains the same.
This year’s announcement and offer are slightly convoluted due to the extension of 2020 Salute Ticket sales and subsequent halt. I’ll explain as we go along.

Walt Disney World Armed Forces Salute Ticket Purchase Limits
Here is where it gets a little odd.
This year’s Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket limit remains at 6 per eligible member.
The odd part is due to the 2020 Salute Ticket purchase extension into 2021.
If you purchased any Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets on or after 19 December 2020, they count towards your 2021 Salute Ticket Limit!
Here:s Disney’s official language: “Notwithstanding any other offers of the Disney Military Promotional Ticket, no more than six (6) Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased (and if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse during the period of December 19, 2020 through December 31, 2021 (e.g., Eligible Service Members or spouses who purchased six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets during the period of December 19, 2020 through February 14, 2021 will not be eligible to purchase additional Disney Military Promotional Tickets in 2021).”

Valerie Jablonski says
We have 5 days left on our 2020 tickets purchased in November 2020. Will we be able to add the “plus” option to these tickets when we use them in March 2021?
Steve says
Hi Valerie,
Disney has not addressed this, but I believe that you will be able to.
I will attempt to find out after they make their formal announcement. They have been silent to date…
Terri says
Hi- we purchased 4 tickets in June of 2020 for a July 2020 trip that we ended up clx’ ing due to the virus but ended up using them over Christmas. 12/25-12/31. We are planning on going again in October of this year. Since we bought and added those 4 tickets to a reservation made in October of 202o for the December stay do they count against us for this years purchase? Sorry I’m so confused?
Steve says
Hi Terri,
No they don’t. Purchase date matters, not when you went or room reservations.
Terri says
Wonderful, thank you!!!
Vicki says
Hi Steve,
Such good news! So it’s been a while since using tickets at WDW. If we purchase 5 day tickets and use 2 days in October, can we use the other 3 days any other days (we can get park reservations) up through December 17?
Thanks for keeping us informed.
Steve says
Yes absolutely, no problem doing that Vicki!
Thanks, love doing it!
Judy says
We made lodging reservations for Oct/Nov based on 6 day Salute tickets. Why are they not offering 6 days as they did last year?
Steve says
Hi Judy,
From what I’ve been told, This was the least popular of the 3 ticket lengths by sales at Base Ticket Offices.
That’s all I have, sorry.
I will query Disney if they contact me about their official release.
Judy says
Thanks. If they don’t add the 6 day, we will just spend an extra day at Universal. However, we have very young children with our group and I was hoping for 6 days of Disney for them.
Judy says
Thank you.
Courtney says
I’m very happy they continued them but sad they still don’t have the six day. I was even hoping they would add a 7 day. We are going for 12 days in Nov/Dec and have to figure out the cheapest way to get tickets.
Steve says
Hi Courtney,
I know what you mean.
When Disney formally announces this (puts it on their website) they will probably reach out to me. I actually have an unanswered email to them right now. When I hear from them this is one of the questions on my list to ask.
Lisa says
So if we want to go to WDW this weekend and have not purchased tickets yet… is there a way?!
Steve says
Hi Lisa,
Shades of Green told me a couple days ago that they are still selling Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets in person.
Valinda says
In the article it states the new 2021 Salute tickets “lose all future value” if not used by Dec 17th, 2021. I have 6 day hopper plus tickets from the original 2020 tickets. Will these be able to to be used past the Sept. 2021 deadline or past this Dec 17th deadline or even beyond that? I thought all tickets could have their value applied to future tickets if you pay the difference. Also how would we be able to extend by paying the difference if the new salute tickets don’t offer a 6 day ticket option? Thanks for any info and advice!
Steve says
Hi Valinda,
Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets are a special category of ticket, and since they started in 2009 have always lost value and couldn’t be used towards anything at the end date of the offer in question.
Regular military non-Salute tickets, and general public tickets absolutely retain value.
2020 was a mess! and Disney and the MWR system have made several successive accommodations for the 2020 tickets as the year wore on.
The current policy as I know it is that if you can’t use your 2020 Salute tickets by 26 September 2021 (the day they expire) your Base Ticket Office is supposed to work with you to let you use them towards new tickets. When you could use the new tickets depends on the kind you buy and associated rules.
Salute tickets can only be upgraded to the versions they offer. Currently for 2021 there is no 6-day version. To get more days you would need to buy a second ticket. Another good option is to take a down day in the middle of your trip.
Troy says
Good afternoon. Thank you for always staying in front of the emerging information. My family purchased and used 6-day 2020 DAFS tickets in January 2020 prior to COVID. We are planning to go again in October/November 2021 but really were hoping to buy the 6-day option again. Since it looks like that may not be offered, could we buy four 5-day tickets of the new offer (through December 2021), one for each of our family, then buy the other two extra 5-day ticket snd split those between our family of four? Basically, I’m asking can I buy four of my 6 tickets, for each of my four family members, then buy the remaining two tickets of my eligible 6, and use those for multiple people once I’ve used up the 5-day options on the first four tickets? I’m sorry if that is confusing.
Steve says
Hi Troy,
No sorry you can’t do that. You would need to buy 4 individual tickets for the number of days that you want to add.
Disney’s rule explicitly say that tickets cannot be shared.
Suggest you consider:

John Merrill says
We have 5-day park hopper tickets we had purchased for our December 2020 trip, but they expire September 24th 2021. We had to CX our trip due to COVID. What is the process to extend? Call Shades of Green and pay the difference? Are new tickets issued?
Steve says
Hi John,
It’s actually 26 Sept 2021 if that matters to your dates.
2020 Tickets will not be extended past 26 Sept.
I’ve seen the internal email that went out to Air Force ITTs saying that Base Ticket Offices should allow those who can’t use their 2020 tickets by 26 Sept 2021 to use them towards new tickets. These would be entirely new tickets.
Since you used Shades of Green, give them a call to ensure they will do the same. SOG Attraction Ticket Hotline (407) 824-1403
Michelle D says
HI,
I’m a little confused on the 6 ticket limit. Could we purchase 2 tickets to use in July and then another two to use in October- both sets for me and hubby? Technically we need 1 tik for July as Hubby has an used one from last year – but we are uncertain if we could buy multiple sets to use in the same year…
Would be about 8 days total and not expecting to travel to FL in 2022 so an annual pass not a good option at this time~
Steve says
Hi Michelle,
Yes, absolutely. You can use the Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets in any manner you choose (who uses them and when). What you proposed is just fine.

Thank you Steve! Really appreciate all the work you put in to this and keeping us all updated!

Mike Garren says
Steve
Just wanted to make sure I understand correctly. I purchased 6 Military Salute tickets last March before the closed and plan to use those 2020 Salute tickets in April 2021. Under the new announcement can I purchase another 6 for later this year using the 2021 Military Salute tickets?
Steve says
Yes that’s correct Mike.
6 to use by 26 Sept and another 6 to use by 17 Dec.
Lysh says
If I buy universal tickets this year will they still be good for use next year in 2022?
Steve says
Hi Lysh,
The special passes that this post talks about won’t they expire at the end of the year.
Regular Universal tickets are valid for a 7 day period after first use.
Dawn Cook says
We’d like to go to WDW Dec 16, 2021 – Dec 23, 2021. This is after the end date for the current Salute ticket of Dec 17, 2021. Any idea when WDW will announce a ticket we can use after Dec 17, 2021? Or is there never a ticket available during the end of December? Thank you!
Steve says
Hi there Dawn,
You were right at the end, lol.
Since the Salutes started in 2009, Disney has never allowed use of Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket between the offer in question end date and the start of the next offer (meaning the week or two of Christmas). Attendance is too high then to try to attract more bodies with a discount. There are no general public discounts at that time either.
If Disney offers a 2022 Salute it would not start until 1 January (sometimes it’s been a day or two later).
But there are other military ticket options to consider, see:

Molly Baker says
Hi! This may be a dumb question but I just want to clarify something, If my husband and I buy a total of Four 4 day park hopper Salute tickets, can we use them back to back for one vacation?
Steve says
Yes, absolutely Molly.

Amy H says
Steve,
Hi! I am sure this is talked about here somewhere and I am overlooking it.
I’m trying to think thru the 5 day Salute Park Hopper PLUS tickets usage for this year. We’ve used the Park Hopper (non Plus) tickets before on two separate trips when we’ve had days left so I understand that part…the PLUS is unclear.
Please talk me thru use on the 5 day Hopper Plus tickets, I’ve never purchased and used before!
Say we go in May 2021 and then in October 2021..
If we use 2 park days in May we have 3 park days left for October which I understand. But the Plus days?
For example: In May, can we Park Hop on Day 1, Day 2 and then use a PLUS on Day 3 just for a waterpark or something.? If so what does that leave us for October? We’d have 3 days to Park Hop in Oct right; then can we use the PLUS on additional days that we don’t HOP? How many separate PLUS days will we have? Is it basically 5 Park Hop days and 5 (separate) PLUS days?
Thanks!!
Steve says
Hi Amy,
No problem. With the 5-day Park Hopper Plus you get 5 days of park hopping and 5 plus entrances.
In your case, if you use 2 park days and 1 plus entry in May, you’l have 3 park days and 4 plus entrances to use before the end of the offer (in your case on your oct trip)
You can see more details on our Park Hopper Plus Page
Sara says
Can I contact the base ticket office by phone and does it have to be the base office that they were purchased from?
Steve says
For what Sara?
Joe says
Hi Steve,
If I order tickets through shades of green and they come to me already activated do I need to be there if some of my family goes to a different park the first day?
Is there any stopping at the gates?
Steve says
Hi there Joe,
No to both questions.
Cynthia Wike says
Is the price listed for 4day park hopper for 1 day or all 4 days? Thank you
Steve says
Hi Cynthia,
That’s the total price for 4 days.
Daniel Singer says
Good Morning, I have been told they are issuing new ID cards “next generation” for 100%/p & t disabled veterans. I will get mine today. Do the new ID cards have DAVPRM stamped/printed on them like the old ones do? I am a newly 100%/p & t disabled veteran and have never had a DOD ID card. In the past, Disney has insisted that DAVPRM be stamped/printed on the card. Any problems with the “next generation” of 100%/p & t disabled veterans ID cards and the Disney Armed Forces Salute Discount available to 100%/p & t disabled veterans? Thank you.
Steve says
Hi Daniel,
I’ve been told that DAVRPM is on it somewhere. But potentially not in the rank box as before.
I would really appreciate your feedback on what you receive!!!
Pam says
If I purchase a 4 day pass, can I use two days this month and two days in the summer/fall?
Steve says
Hi Pam,
By pass I assume you mean a Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket which this post is about.
If that’s the case, then yes you have until the end of the offer period on 17 Dec to use up all of the days on the ticket on any day that you desire.
Catherine S says
Hi Steve. Our family has a trip planned for January 2022. Any idea when we would be able to purchase the DAFST for January 7 through the 14th 2022? Thank you
Steve says
Hi Catherine,
In a normal year I’d say the beginning of October but not later than 1 November (due to 60-day FastPasses).
But the past 13 months has been anything but normal for everything, but also as far as Disney’s consideration of the military community. It seems we’ve been an afterthought since March 2020 (with action sometimes only after my pestering).
I imagine you are asking because of Theme Park Reservations… I’m really hopeful that we won’t even have to worry about those as they’ll be a thing of the past in January 2021.
