When will 2022 Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets / Ticket Prices be announced or Tickets become available for purchase?
Update October 2021: No news yet, see the most recent update
Update July 2021: Numerous people keep asking about Walt Disney World in 2022. I have no knowledge or advice beyond what is already published in this post.
Update: 30 June 2021, Disneyland has announced a combined Salute Ticket and room Offer for the last half of 2021 and 2022. This leaves open the question of both Tickets and Rooms at Walt Disney World in 2022.
We have a policy here at MDT, that when we get a few of the same or similar questions in a short timeframe, we create a post on that topic. If a few have taken the time to reach out, then its a good bet that many more have the same question as well, and we’d better answer it!
Normally this question does not start percolating up until late summer, but Walt Disney World’s temporary Theme Park Reservation System is what is making people think of it so soon (just 1 month into the 2021 Salute Offer Period).
When the Disney Armed Forces Salute for the upcoming year will be announced always comes up in very late July or early August, because about the 3rd week of July is when Disney releases their Resort prices and inventory for the upcoming year.
Historically (since the switch to calendar year Salutes in 2016), Disney has announced the upcoming year’s Disney Armed Forces Salute in late September. This is in plenty of time to make 60-day FastPass+ reservations. Note: since this was originally posted Disney has announced that FastPass+ is not coming back and will be replaced by Disney Genie.
But Disney World has already released their resort room inventory for 2022 and people are worried about securing the Theme Park Reservations that they desire for their dates.
A Temporary Offer
The first thing to consider is that the Disney Armed Forces Salute is a special temporary offer, which runs for a specified time period. I say it is temporary, because it is still a “relatively” new discount (now in its 12th year) and each self-contained Salute offer runs for a specific timeframe. A new and totally separate Salute must be offered by Disney in order for the Salute to “continue” the next year.
Being a special offer, the Disney Armed Forces Saluteis never guaranteed to be renewed.
Each year Disney evaluates many factors (most of which have nothing to do with the military offer) prior to deciding if they will renew the discount or not. The timing of this decision is driven by the timing of these other factors throughout the company, such as annual revenue projections.
Historical Announcements
Since 2016 the announcement of the next year’s Disney Armed Forces Salute offer has traditionally been in late September. This was not the case in 2020, as it was so crazy! We didn’t find out about 2021’s Salute until February 2021.
Based on Disney’s lackluster consideration of, and announcements to the military community in 2020, at this point there is knowing if or when we will find out about a 2022 WDW Disney Armed Forces Salute Offer.
I say let’s hope for late September and see.
Note Disneyland recently announced a Room and Ticket Salute offer through December 2022. I feel they made the 18-month long offer because a 6-month long one would have been silly.
This is going to affect both your Theme Park Tickets and Resort Reservations individually.
Effects on Theme Park Tickets
The issue for 2022 is Disney’s temporary Theme Park Reservation System. A valid theme park ticket is required in order to make a Theme Park Reservation. And once all reservations are taken at a specific park on a specific day, that’s it! No more will be available unless people cancel their reservations.
This is making some people very nervous!
They have already made WDW Resort reservations and are worried that by the time they can buy their Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets the park reservations will be gone.
Salute Tickets traditionally become available for purchase from weeks to months after the announcement depending on the Ticket Office in question. Shades of Green always has them first.
On that note I say remember, Theme Park Reservations are a Temporary Measure, for 2020 and much of 2021 I felt that they would be gone by October 2021, but with the recent announcement for Disney Genie, Disney acted as it reservations will be in effect for 2022.
However except for the most highly desired dates, obtaining theme park reservations has not been a problem.
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Effects on Resort Reservations
As far as Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Reservations, we are now experiencing the same issue that we do every year in August and September, except way earlier.
That Issue being military families making full priced resort reservations, and most likely being told by Disney reservations cast members on the phone that they can just convert their full priced reservation to a Disney Armed Forces Salute reservation when the Salute comes out.
This is not a true statement!
For years, we’ve had issues with castmembers who’s job it is to interface with the public spreading misinformation, but this is the fib we run into the most.
First – Remember a Salute has to be offered in order for there to be a discount.
Second – The Disney Armed Forces Salute Room Discount doesn’t work like that, it is not available every night on every room at every resort! Your dates, Resort, and room type might not have any Salute availability.
Third – Other rates cannot be converted to a Salute rate. A new reservation must be made.
So if you have made full priced room reservations and your dates are set in stone, be aware that in order to get a Disney Armed Forces Salute discount on your room you may need to switch Resorts or your room type.

September 2022 is when we’re hoping to have our first trip… making sure I understand, the dates that the Salute rates do *not* work for would be announced in ~September, correct? Does peak season affect which dates are eligible for the Salute rates? Thank you!
Hi Gabby,
Yes, if and when Disney announces a Disney Armed Forces Salute for 2022 (hopefully in Sept or before), any blockout dates would be announced at that time.
Blockout dates have evolved towards the better over the years. Just before Christmas through New Years have always been blocked from use. Until the last couple of years the 2 weeks that Disney decides will be the height of Spring Break were also blocked. and a long time ago there were several other days or periods blocked. Note dates were and won’t be identical at Disney World and Disneyland. And ticket and room bolckout dates strangely don’t always line up.
September will be No Problem!!!
Hi Steve, Just wanted to let you know. We have a reservation for early January 2022. I called Shades of Green ticket office today and they told me that Disney said they will be doing the promo tickets for WDW in early to mid October.!! 🙂
Thanks for the intel Darissa!!!
If it’s not Thurs or Fri this week we’ll wait a bit to see.
I was also told October, but as of 11/12/21, these rates have yet to be released.
Still had 3 days left on my military salute tickets from 2020. Can I use them this year because of covid?
Yes, Ronald, please see: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-armed-forces-salute/using-disney-armed-forces-salute-tickets-in-2021/
Will the anticipated September salute room announcements be on a date we could put on our calendar? Will there be any advanced notice of that date or will we just have to watch every day in September as to when the reservation window will open?
Hello Jack,
In the past it’s been late in the month. There will be no advance notice from Disney. I always send out an update to my newsletter subscribers the day it comes out.
Steve, if or when Disney brings back annual passes, did they discount them any for the military or just for Florida residence? Thank you!
Hey Gary,
There has never been an actual military discount on annual passes. Disney never offered one, but Shades of Green used to sell discounted passes they bought from local bulk resellers at a discount, but in 2019 the cut back to only carrying the top of the line pass and then finally quit all together.
I myself have the FL Silver on the monthly payment plan, have had for many years. Love it! But alas, selling the FL house soon.
Steve
I’m a retired Military Officer staying at Shades of Green.. The Dates are Feb 9th to to Feb 24th of 2022. I am looking at getting the Park Hopper 5 day pass.
1. Are the Salute tickets that ostensibly come out in LATE September (giving me 4.5 months to reserve a park in 4 different parks on different Mid February days). going to give me enough time so that I don’t need to worry about being Frozen out of Disney World due to the exceeding of the 35 pct capacity rule ?
2. Steve you also said “Here at MDT, we do not expect Theme Park Reservations to be in effect in 2022, eliminating this worry.” Quote-Unquote .. How do you know the Theme Park Reservation system will not be in effect..
3. Someone mentioned a News Letter …where can I sign up?

Thanks Steve
Hi there John, welcome!
First, you can find the sign up for the newsletter a couple ways. At the bottom of each post or page (before the comments) you will see a horizontal line and a section that starts “Planning a Disney Trip? Want to get the best military discounts that are available? Feeling a little confused? Get Our Email Newsletter” Just click the link. Or in the menu at the top of every page, click on Updates, then Newsletter.
The goal of every company is to make money. Disney has lost over a billion dollars in the last 14 months! Disney will not stick to these social distancing guidelines one minute longer than they think that they have to to legally protect themselves.
They have increased the max capacity in the parks at least once already, perhaps more. Disney’s CEO has said that masks will be in the parks in some fashion through the end of the year, that also means they won’t be in the parks in some fashion (meaning outside) which could take place very soon as Orange County is set to do away with outdoor mask requirements for theme parks very soon.
The CDC recently reduced their recommended social distancing distance to 3 feet to match most of the rest of the world. This will allow a big increase in allowed park attendance even if they stick to theme park reservations, which will probably be rolled out at the same time. A decrease in the distance means an increase in attendance limits.
But Disney’s goal is to get back to 100% normal operations as soon as possible, they hope by 1 Oct, WDW’s 50th Anniversary if not by the end of the year.
To me it’s inconceivable that this reaction to the virus can continue much longer given that over 2/3s of the US population has had the virus, been inoculated, or (baffling) both and we are at or near herd immunity.
Whew, having said all that, February (especially early) is one of the slowest times of the year, so even if there are, say theme parks reservations required for a 60% capacity cap you’ll be great. You’d even be fine at 35%.
I am the widow of a 100 % disabled veteran, receive DIC and have a military ID. Do I qualify to stay at SOG?
Thank you!
Hi Gayla,
Here is Shades of Green’s policy for your situation: “Un-remarried former spouses who were married to military members for at least 20 years while the military member was on active duty ID is DD Form 1173”
So if we wanted to visit WDW in October of 2022…assuming they offer the discount…should I start booking the trip one year from October 2022?
Hi Angelina,
The further out that you book the better the chance that the highest Disney Armed Forces Salute room discount will be available (or available at all) for your desired dates, resort choice, room type.
October isn’t one of the big high attendance times, but better to get it reserved (with 1 night’s deposit) and you can always adjust some if needed.
That’s of course after an announcement.
Hello,
So we have 6 salute the troops tickets 2021 4 day park hopper passes but want to visit the parks December 19th-22nd 2021. Am I understanding it correctly that we will not be able to use them then…even though some of the wording below the activation dates states through December 31, 2021?
Hi Christy,
I’m Sorry, I’m not sure what tickets you actually have. Disney offers the Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets through base ticket offices and in person at Disney, and also the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets only through base ticket offices. Both offer 4-Day Hoppers. There isn’t a Salute to Troops ticket.
The price you paid would be the way to tell which you have. See these posts for pricing details:
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/the-disney-armed-forces-salute-military-ticket-and-room-discounts/
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/regular-military-discounted-magic-your-way-tickets/
Disney Armed Forces Salute
These are highly discounted tickets.
The 2021 Disney Armed Forces Salute ends on 18 Dec 2021. 2021 Salute Tickets can not be used after that date!
The expiration date is clearly printed on the back of the thin cardboard exchange voucher (ticket) you would have received from your base ticket office. And ticket offices are required to brief you on the valid dates, many have you sign acknowledging they have told you (or made you read) all the rules.
For example an exchange voucher will have:
5 DAY PARK HOPPER MIL SALUTE 21 EXCHANGE
MUST BE ACTIVATED FIRST – EXP 12/17/2021
The purchase date is also on the voucher (small in the bottom right). No other dates.
If you purchased a Salute ticket from Shades of Green instead of on base, you would have received an actual plastic ticket with no date whatsoever on it. It would say: “REFER TO RECEIPT FOR TICKET NAME” on the back and no date.
Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets
These are slightly discounted tickets.
These tickets can be used during the Christmas season, see the link above for details.
These could have the date you mentioned on them, if purchased quite a while back. Ones purchased this year would have 31 Dec 2022 expirations.
Hope this helps, let me know. If not reach out to me via the contact form (look under About MDT in the menu).
How crazy is it to plan a JAN3-15 2022 trip hoping the salute comes out in time. Currently holding full price room only reservations at Polynesian. Kids are 14+ so understand the risk but also know we have a small window with college calendar for the oldest. We originally planned early December as we have every year and then the college kid wanted in so we have to let her take her December exams. At what point to we say the discounts are not coming and switch to December 2021 without her?
Hi there Tricia,
Lots of people take that gamble every year.
You’ve mede the important step of securing a resort for January. You might also want to do that for Dec as well, hopefully with a Salute discount. Then you can let the Dec go and get the refund if Jan works out. You’ll have to move quick once a Salute is announced to get a Jan discount.
I’m hoping that Disney will be back to the regular late September announcement for a 2022 Salute. But everything is so odd right now.
They need to discount to attract guests, but have been hesitant to offer discounts far in advance. Look at the lack of general public discounts right now.
They are very busy right now (up to their lowered limits), with people who are now ready to travel or who have been putting it off.
All will depend on their attendance projections for early 2022.
Once they get back to normal operations they will need to discount as I feel the international travel market (which they depend on) will be much slower to recover for Disney.
In 2020 the 2021 Salute was kind of an afterthought, coming out in late December. I’ll be trying to push Disney as the summer wears on to be thinking of our community!
Thank you for this informative article!
I literally just spoke to a cast member today that pressured me to go ahead and reserve rack rate rooms, with the promise of adjusting the price to the military rate when they become available. It’s sounding like I shouldn’t do that at all? Instead just wait until the rates are officially released?
Hi Maliah,
Many people do this every year, often at a cast member’s encouragement. There’s no harm to yourself in doing so. Thought it does take a room out of availability for those dates making the point at which any Salute discount might decrease or be unavailable one room closer.
You just need to be aware that WDW does not convert other reservations to Salute ones, they start fresh the see if the discount is available, so your current resort and or room type might not be available for your dates and you could have to regroup.
See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/how-disney-armed-forces-salute-room-discounts-work/
I am hoping to finally stay at Port Orleans in October 2022. We almost stayed there once, but ended up at All-Star Music. Both of those resorts are closed. If they don’t reopen by the time the 2022 Salute is announced, do you think that means there won’t be any Salute discounts at those resorts when they do hopefully reopen in 2022?
Hi Wendy,
I feel WDW will need to continue attracting bodies (the purpose of discounts) moving forward.
Port Orleans and other resorts will open as they can fill them. They ideally want to get back to 85-90% capacity in all resorts (where they used to be). Discounting will help them get there.
For those worrying about park reservation availability – we were just in Disney last month and were constantly changing our park reservations due to the unavailability of dining reservations. If something we wanted opened up, we grabbed it. But it usually conflicted with our park reservations for that day.
If you’re on the Disney website and it says there’s no parks (or just that Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, whatever) available, try anyway! I got Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom about 95% of the time when the calendar said there were no spots available. If people cancel, it doesn’t show up on the calendar right away, but will show in the inventory when booking.
So just keep trying!
Thanks for the Great Tip Peg!
Hello Steve,
Thank you for all your great tips! My family had a wonderful trip this year, May 30- June 5. We stayed at The Beach Club and loved it. We had 6 day tickets because we were originally set to go last May. I noticed that this year’s ticket options only offer a 4 or 5 day ticket, for the Salute tickets. Do you think the 6 day option will come back for 2022, and do you have a hunch as to when they may decide to offer the Salute room and ticket options for 2022?
Thanks in advance!
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
Thanks so much! We love the Beach Club too!!!
2020 was the only year there was a 6 day and from what I heard from a Ticket Office friend, they just didn’t sell many.
I think it was something Disney tried, and decided not to continue.
As to when, this post pretty much sums up my thoughts on that. Disney being Dieny we won’t know till we know, sadly.
Fingers crossed for the usual late September.
We are visiting Disney for 5 days in December and then again for 10 days in May 2022. Do I need to purchase 2021 Salute tickets for the December trip and then purchase 2022 tickets for the May trip ? Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.
Hi Doris,
Yes you’ll purchase the 2021 Salute tickets for the Dec trip (these expire 17 Dec!). For 2022 you’ll purchase 2022 Salute tickets if offered or the Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets or Shades of Green Stars and Stripes Passes
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/regular-military-discounted-magic-your-way-tickets/
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/shades-of-greens-stars-and-stripes-tickets/
When new MYW ticket prices come out for the following year, will we still have time to order tickets using the current prices? I assume new prices come out when Salute offers generally do in late September. (We are just waiting to see if by some crazy chance the 6day Salute comes back.,, if not it’s MYW.)
Hi Ellen,
Each Disney Armed Forces Salute is a separate individual offer. Tickets from one offer (and its timeframe) are not valid in another.
So when 2022 WDW Salute prices are announced they will be for dates in 2022. 2021 tickets cease to be usable after 17 Dec 2021.
Greetings Steve
Just confirming that the Salute offer mentioned applies to only Disneyland, correct.
I’m a bit confused.
Thanks again for your focus on the military community!
Mike A
Yes Mike this is the brand new Disneyland offer. The WDW one has been out for months.
See: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/the-disney-armed-forces-salute-military-ticket-and-room-discounts/
It appears now that the Park Reservations are not going to go away in 2022 so there is now pressure to know whether the discount is going to be offered at WDW or not!
Hi there Randy,
Disney could end could end Theme Park Reservations at any time. They could end them tomorrow with little to no notice (if they had enough employees). It’s a little premature to say that Theme Park Reservations are not going away in 2022. Just because the current system goes out that far doesn’t guarantee its continued use.
But, let’s say that they are not going away. Today, 2022 is totally green (all parks available every single day of the year). I don’t expect that in the less than 2 months until the traditional Salute announcement date that massive unavailability will occur.
And, I’m sure that unannounced in the back ground, Disney is upping capacity limits as they are able.
Hi Steve, thank you for all your wonderful information. I’m hoping you can help me out here. We originally planned to go in May 2020 and my AD son purchased a Salute ticket for that trip. Covid, travel restrictions and deployment later, he is holding a Salute ticket with printed expiration 12/18/20, but in MDE it was extended to 9/26/21. We are finally able to re-plan that trip for January 2022.
What can I/he do with his ticket? Does he need to return to the base ticket office (Hood) where he purchased it and exchange for a Salute (I am aware Salute tickets for 2022 are not announced yet) or discounted ticket or refund? I’m assuming, as with regular tickets, the value of this ticket can be put toward a new ticket though that’s the part I’m not sure about. I’m hoping he can just exchange it for a 2022 Salute ticket when available and pay the difference. I’m not sure when or where to try to get that done. He has been unable to do anything about this ticket until now.
Hi there Stephanie,
Thanks so much!
The short answer is that I recommend moving your planned trip one month earlier, to early December!
First, Disney’s rules have always explicitly stated that Disney Armed Forces Salute tickets loose all monetary value (whether the ticket are unused or partially used) on the end date of the offer they were sold for.
There was a refund period for 2020 tickets through Base Ticket Offices, but that is long over (it was in 2020).
Due to the covid closures Disney has made an exception to the loss of Salute Ticket value for the 2020 Salute Tickets in 2021. They did this 2 ways, by extending the 2020 ticket expiration date through 26 Sept 2021 and also allowing the 2020 tickets to be upgraded to 2021 versions for the price difference, which extends their end date to 16 December 2021.
I do not expect there will be any other extension of value as an official policy. This is why I said to go in December. In Disney’s mind they have given people an additional year to use tickets that were due to end at the end of 2020.
2020 to 2021 ticket upgrades need to be done through Disney either in person, or some readers have reported being able to do so over the phone.
So your options are to move the vacation or hope that you might get some “magic” in the form of an exception to use the tickets in 2022. Sine no Salute has been announced for 2022 yet, you’d have to wait until that happens to try.
Hi Steve, we have 2020 military salute tickets that we added maxpass to for Disneyland. Disney announced today that they are doing away with maxpass and starting Genie+ this fall. Do you know if we will be able to get a refund for the maxpass?
Hi Cathy,
I’m sure Disney will work through issues like these on an individual basis. I know there will be many in the same situation. They’ll probably convert your purchase to a Genie+ purchase and settle out any difference in price.
Hi Steve I have a few questions. My husband and I are wanting to surprise our 6 kids with a trip to WDW for Christmas this year. My plan was to go to Universal Studios for a few days Dec 28-31st. (we went in March of this year and still have the season pass) and go to WDW hopefully January 1st-4th. I know we don’t have a date of when the 2022 salute will be but assuming it begins on Jan 1st like it has in previous years, how would I go about getting tickets? Do I have to wait until Jan 1st and get them at Shades of Green? My next question is, when we went to Disneyland a few years ago, we were able to both use our military ID’s to get enough tickets for our whole family (8 people total). I’ve been reading your posts and I am still a little confused. Thank you for all your help!
Hi Ashlee,
The most important question first ($). Are you both military members or is one of you a spouse? If you are both military, then yes together you are eligible for 12 Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets. But if one of you is a spouse then the limit would be 6 for the member. The spouse has none allocated to themselves and can only use the member’s in place of the member.
If you can only get 6 Salute Tickets then you’d get Regular Military Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets or Shades of Green Stars and Stripes Passes for the others. (Kids as they are cheaper)
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/regular-military-discounted-magic-your-way-tickets/
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/military-discount-theme-park-tickets/shades-of-greens-stars-and-stripes-tickets/
In past years WDW announced the upcoming Salute in late September and Shades of Green was able to sell the tickets fairly soon thereafter. Bases take longer to get them.
If they stick to the regular timeline, then you’ll be all set. Just order them long distance from Shades of Green.
https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-military-discounts/buy-military-discounted-disney-tickets-by-phone/
Great plan, by the way! Effective use of discount timeframes and Ending with Disney.
Hi Steve
I agree with everything you said except point 3. I am actually a military spouse and former cast member that used to work in the reservation center. While no you can not be guaranteed a salute offer, ever, when the salute offers become available you CAN call in and request to have your currently booked offer code changed over to the salute offer code that of course is “based on availability” and yes that means not all resorts are participating and not all room types and dates. However when the Salute resort offer is released Disney does outline which resorts, room types and dates are excluded. When a guest calls we run the new CODE through the sytem and if an offer pops up then it is available for your resort and dates of travel and the reservation is switched to the new offer not re-booked. We try to avoid re-booking as much as possible to prevent, hmm gremlins lol
Thanks for the intel Jana!
I’m just passing on what WDW Media relations related to me years ago. Perhaps it’s changed.
Hi so it’s now end of September. I can’t get any info or an answer from Disney on this. I have to assume since Disneyland is doing 2022 military tickets that Disney world will be correct?? Surely we will get word any day right?!?!
Hi Kevin,
I expect Thursday…
The last 3 normal years it’s actually been released on the last Thursday in Sept (2017-2019). In 2016 it was the last Wednesday, 2015 the last Friday.
To date the release has been the 26th to the 28th on the calendar.
If they stick to the last Thursday, that will make it the 30th.
Hey this makes me feel much better.
We are looking at canceling/shortening our Christmas trip (or at least downgrading resorts due to an unexpected pet medical cost) and going next year instead. However, the discount on rooms is the reason we can stay at a Deluxe resort at all, so I would rather do fewer days this year than none at all next year. Fingers crossed this Thursday brings good news. A lot of our decisions depend on what Disney announces.
Was hoping they would have announced the discount by now. I hope this doesn’t mean we won’t be getting one for 2022.
Very disappointed that we have not heard anything yet. I am definitely getting worried.
Hi Steve,
I booked our reservation for feb 2022 for a week last week and called in. It looks like they have not released any rooms yet for the salute and I am not seeing anything about tickets. Do we know if there is an update?
I have never seen it get this drawn out before! Thank you!
Hi there Ruby,
This is my most recent update: https://www.militarydisneytips.com/blog/disney-armed-forces-salute/no-2022-wdw-disney-armed-forces-salute-so-far/
No news yet. It’s awful!
I saw this on an e-mail from the DFB Blog site: “Military Ticket Offer
Up to this point, retired and active military members could purchase 4-day, 5-day, or 6-day Disney Military Promotional Tickets through December 18th. Now, the offer has been extended to allow military members to purchase up to 6 additional Military Promotional Tickets, beginning December 19 through February 14.”
It’s the only place I’ve seen this and it sounds like the Salute Offer has been extended. Is this true or just erroneous information or am I confused? DFB is a pretty good source for all Disney but this seems too good to be true.
Hi Steve,
You didn’t provide a link, but I searched DFB and that post is from 3 Dec 2020. It’s the newest result on DFB for a search for “military”.
disneyfoodblog.com/2020/12/03/new-and-extended-u-s-military-offers-on-tickets-and-hotels-in-disney-world/ it has the same text you quoted.
So false alarm sadly.
Not sure what you mean by the comment: Based on Disney’s lackluster consideration of, and announcements to the military community.
Disney has always been staunch supporters of the military community. 2020 and 2021 were no different. The were amazing supportive despite loosing millions during that time.
Hi there Krist,
Well, you’re asking this question at the very time very many military families are freaking out about their January/February 2022 Walt Disney World vacations, Disney is leaving them wondering whether they will be able to afford one or not. The ones that could still afford it without the discount are stressing about park reservations and 60-day dining reservations (the others are stressing about it too, but going or not is first on their mind). Disney World should have published the 2022 Disney Armed Forces Salute information on time in late September as as they normally do. They are now 5 months behind Disneyland’s 2022 announcement.

Disney’s Revenue Generation Board meets in September to forecast for the next year, which is why the Disney Armed Forces Salute has always been announced in late September. But here we are in November.
I’m thinking about the last 20 months during which Disney has consistently put the military community on hold waiting on ticket and room discount information.
Disneyland announced for both 2021 and 2022 back on 29 June 2021. A full 2 months after re-opening. (no Salute Offer for those 2 months)
A 2021 partial year (through 26 Sept 2021) WDW ticket option (2020 tickets extended) was not announced until 3 December 2020 (2.5 months late), causing concern about theme park reservations. A full year 2021 offer was not announced until 5 February 2021.
Yes Disney has lost a lot due to the policies of others and their own policies which were often even more restrictive and revenue squashing. Offering the military discounts on time would have brought in more revenue for the company when it was desperately needed to help offset their own imposed revenue squashing policies.
Universal Orlando has been booming without masks for a very long time (since July or August) On my trip last week WDW cast members were still yelling at guests to put on masks. WDW’s parks are running at full capacity, why have they kept theme park reservations which they told us was to limit capacity? Why are they making guests wait till 2 p.m. to park hop if there is never a capacity issue? Universal never had theme park reservations or park hopping time limits.
Yes, Disney offers great military discounts to attract extra bodies that spend more money on food and merch, but doing so on time would be better for all parties.
Anyway, that’s my perspective, thanks for sharing yours.
