Shades of Green Transportation Options

Because Shades of Green operates its own dedicated bus system separate from Disney transportation, the routes and stops differ from those used by regular resort guests. This list covers every major park, water park, and resort—so you’ll always know the best way to get there from your military resort.

Use this Shades of Green transportation guide to plan the quickest, most efficient route, whether you’re catching the Monorail at the Transportation and Ticket Center, boarding the Skyliner from Hollywood Studios, or heading back to Shades of Green.

Each entry below includes step-by-step directions and insider tips for traveling from Shades of Green to popular destinations across Walt Disney World and back.

Shades of Green Transportation Guide for Disney World Destinations

First, some notes about Shades of Green’s bus schedule. Its buses run on a set schedule, which in some cases is not as frequent as you may be used to with Disney World’s bus system. Below are the departure times and frequency of each line.

  • Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) bus (for Magic Kingdom & EPCOT) departs the hotel roughly every 20 minutes, at 10, 30, and 50 minutes past the hour.
  • Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom bus departs roughly every 30 minutes, at 15 and 45 minutes after the hour.
  • Disney Springs – Departs the hotel approximately every hour on the half-hour.

Does Disney provide transportation to Universal Studios?

Considerations for interacting with Disney’s transportation system:

  • While the Transportation and Ticket Center bus runs most frequently, it isn’t ideal for transferring to destinations that require the use of Disney’s bus system, as Disney buses do not serve the TTC. You would need to take the monorail or ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom to catch a Disney bus.
  • Disney Springs is also not a great location to transfer between Shades of Green and Disney Transportation. Shades of Green’s buses use an entirely different bus station at Disney Springs, with a 15-20 minute walk to get from where Shades of Green’s buses drop you to Disney’s bus stop.
  • This makes the Hollywood Studios bus the ideal location to transfer to Disney’s buses for most destinations.

Be sure to verify the Shades of Green bus start and end times for your vacation dates, as they vary based on park opening and closing times.

All of the routes below start at Shades of Green. Travel times vary based on traffic, weather, and transfer waits.

From there, use the dedicated event bus to ESPN Wide World of Sports if offered for your tournament or game. ≈ 45–90 minutes total, highly event-dependent. ESPN transportation is event-based and not always running. Check event packets or Shades of Green Guest Services for that day’s info.
If there is no dedicated bus, rideshare is often the only practical option.

The times I’ve given above are realistic “total door-to-door” ranges, not just wheels-moving. They assume:

  • Waiting for the Shades of Green bus
  • Riding the Shades of Green Bus
  • Walking to the next mode of travel
  • Waiting for that next mode of travel
  • And any walking times required

With this guide, you’ll know exactly how to reach every corner of Walt Disney World from Shades of Green—whether you’re hopping to EPCOT, planning a day at Disney Springs, or transferring to another resort for dinner. Be sure to confirm the latest Shades of Green bus schedules in the lobby before leaving, as times may change seasonally. Shades of Green’s Bus Stops at Disney’s Theme Parks and Disney Springs

Shades of Green doesn’t load and unload its buses in the same place as Disney resort buses. Sometimes it’s close, but in some cases, you’ll be dropped in a completely different part of the property than other guests. That can be confusing the first time you arrive somewhere and find yourself asking,  How do I get where I’m going?” In this section, I’ll show you exactly where Shades of Green buses pick up and drop off at each location — including what the stop looks like, how far it is from the park entrance or Disney’s regular bus loop, and a satellite view so you can spot it fast in real life.

Disney World’s Transportation and Ticket Center

You’ll need to take the bus to the TTC from Shades of Green to get to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT

Walt Disney World's Transportation and Ticket Center

Shades of Green’s Buses arrive at the Non-Disney Bus/Ride Hire Area

The Shades of Green Bus Stop at the TTC is at the Non-Disney Bus/Ride Hire Area in the pic above.

Here is a ground-level pic of the bus stop. You’ll cross on the diagonal crosswalk to and from the bus stop. The red poles indicate the various bus stops. There is no cover for rainy weather, and at busy times you will need to line up at the stop. The Shades of Green bus stop is the first one by the light pole.

It is a 2-minute (.10 mile) walk between the security checkpoint and the bus stop. From the bus stop to the monorail entrance, the total is a 3 to 4-minute walk (.17 miles), and to the ferry it is 5 minutes (.25 miles).

Hollywood Studios

A few Years ago, in conjunction with the Disney Skyliner construction, Disney created a brand new Bus Depot at Hollywood Studios. This depot serves all Disney and commercial buses/shuttles. Disney’s spots are, of course, the closer ones and the non-Disney ones further away.

Disney’s Bus Stops are under the first 3 covered areas on the left, and Shades of Green’s is the last covered area on the right. It is a 3 to 4-minute walk (.17 miles) to the Sklyiner Station (the light blue roof) and a 5 to 6-minute walk (.27 miles) to the Hollywood Studios entrance.

Animal Kingdom

At Animal Kingdom, the Shades of Green Bus Stop is in the non-Disney bus area. This area is a very small covered area that is shared by everyone riding a non-Disney bus.

The bus stop is in the opposite direction from Disney’s bus stop when leaving the front gate.

It is about a 4-minute walk (.20 mile) from the Animal Kingdom Entrance/Exit. And it is between a 4 to 7-minute walk (.20 to .32 miles) to the Disney bus stops, depending on which stop.

Disney Springs

At Disney Springs, the Shades of Green buses stop at the West Side Bus Loop, while Disney’s bus stop is roughly in the middle of Disney Springs. It is a 4-minute walk (.20 mile) to the Disney Springs Security Checkpoint, which is located on the east side of Cirque du Soleil.

Walt Disney World's Disney Springs

Walking distances to Disney Springs destinations from the Shades of Green Bus Stop:

  • Disney’s Bus Stop: Closest stop – 10 to 11-minute walk (.55 miles), furthest stop – 13 to 14 minutes (.67 miles)
  • Disney’s Boat Dock is a 17 to 18 minute walk (.90 miles)

Disney’s only operating dock (post covid) is the one at the top right of the pic.

Knowing where the Shades of Green buses pick up and drop off can save you a ton of time and confusion—especially at busy parks or after fireworks. Once you’ve seen these locations on the map, you’ll be able to navigate back to your stop confidently, even when the crowds are high!

How to Get to Shades of Green from Anywhere at Walt Disney World

Whether you are staying at Shades of Green or visiting for the day or for an errand, this transportation guide explains exactly how to get to Shades of Green from anywhere at Walt Disney World—including every park, resort area, and Disney Springs.

All ABout Walt Disney World's Skyliner

EPCOT International Gateway Skyliner Station

Because Shades of Green is a Department of Defense resort operating its own bus system, it is not included in Disney’s standard resort transportation network. However, it’s easy to reach once you know which routes to take and where to transfer.

Again, here are some notes about Shades of Green’s bus schedule. Its buses run on a set schedule, which in many cases is not as frequent as Disney World’s bus system. Below are the departure times and frequency of each line.

  • Transportation and Ticket Center bus (Magic Kingdom & EPCOT) departs the hotel roughly every 20 minutes, on the hour, and at 20 and 40  minutes past the hour.
  • Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom bus departs roughly every 30 minutes, at 15 and 45 minutes after the hour.
  • Disney Springs – Departs Disney Springs every hour on the hour.

All routes below show how to reach Shades of Green from throughout Walt Disney World. Allow extra time for transfers and security checkpoints.

Be sure to verify the last Shades of Green bus time for your vacation dates, as they vary based on park opening and closing times.

All of the routes below start at Shades of Green. Travel times vary based on traffic, weather, and transfer waits.

Theme Parks → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Magic Kingdom Exit Magic Kingdom and go to the Ferryboat or Monorail. Ride to the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC). From the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 30–50 minutes total after nighttime crowds After fireworks, Monorail and Ferry lines can be very long.
EPCOT Exit EPCOT through the main entrance. Take the Monorail to the TTC. At the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 35–55 minutes total You must exit EPCOT’s front gates to reach the Monorail. You cannot board the EPCOT Monorail from International Gateway.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Exit Disney’s Hollywood Studios and go to the Shades of Green charter/bus pickup area. Take the Shades of Green bus directly back to the resort. ≈ 20–40 minutes total This is usually the best transfer point back to Shades of Green from most Crescent Lake / Skyliner / moderate/value resorts.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Exit Disney’s Animal Kingdom and go to the Shades of Green charter/bus pickup area. Take the Shades of Green bus directly back to the resort. ≈ 20–40 minutes total Watch for end-of-night surges when Animal Kingdom closes early; you may wait closer to the high end of that range.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach (when operating) Take the Disney bus from Blizzard Beach to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. At Animal Kingdom, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 45–75 minutes total Blizzard Beach often closes earlier than the theme parks. If the Blizzard Beach bus is not running when you leave, ask a Cast Member which park bus is currently operating and connect from that park.

Disney Springs Area → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Disney Springs From the Disney Springs West Side, Shades of Green drop/pickup area, board the Shades of Green bus directly back to the resort. ≈ 20–45 minutes total Shades of Green uses a different bus area than Disney’s regular resort buses. It’s on the West Side near Cirque du Soleil. If you’re coming from the Marketplace or Town Center, expect a ~15–20 minute walk (0.6–0.8 miles) back to that stop.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Take the Disney bus from Typhoon Lagoon to Disney Springs. Walk to the Shades of Green pickup area on the West Side (about 15–20 minutes / 0.6–0.8 miles across Disney Springs). Board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 60–90 minutes total Water park buses can stop running before Disney Springs closes; confirm last bus time. Rain/lightning can slow this down a lot.
Port Orleans – French Quarter / Riverside Option 1 (Recommended Late at Night): Take the Disney resort bus from Port Orleans to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort.

Option 2: Take the Port Orleans boat or resort bus to Disney Springs. Walk across Disney Springs (~15–20 minutes / 0.6–0.8 miles) to the Shades of Green pickup area on the West Side and take the Shades of Green bus.

Option 1: ≈ 60–90 minutes total.

Option 2: ≈ 70–100 minutes total with walking.

Boat service may pause for lightning or storms. After the boats shut down for weather, buses can get crowded. The Hollywood Studios transfer is usually cleaner than trying to cross Disney Springs on foot late.
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa Option 1: Take a Disney resort bus from Saratoga Springs to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, get on the Shades of Green bus.

Option 2: Take the Disney Springs bus to Disney Springs, then walk (~15–20 minutes / 0.6–0.8 miles depending where you’re dropped) to the Shades of Green pickup by the West Side and ride directly back.

Option 1: ≈ 60–90 minutes total.
Option 2: ≈ 60–90 minutes total, depending on which Saratoga stop you’re coming from and walking time at Disney Springs.
Internal stops at Saratoga Springs can add 10–15 minutes before you even leave the resort. Hollywood Studios transfer is usually more predictable than crossing Disney Springs on foot.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort Option 1: Take the Disney resort bus from Old Key West to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus.

Option 2: Take the Old Key West bus (or boat when available) to Disney Springs, then walk ~15–20 minutes across Disney Springs to the Shades of Green pickup near Cirque du Soleil and board the Shades of Green bus.

Option 1: ≈ 60–90 minutes total.
Option 2: ≈ 70–100 minutes total.
Boat service to Disney Springs may end earlier in storms or late at night. After hours, the Hollywood Studios transfer path is usually the safest bet.

Magic Kingdom Resort Area → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Walk to (or Monorail to) the Transportation & Ticket Center. At the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 20–35 minutes total.
Walking Polynesian → TTC is about 0.3 miles / ~5–7 minutes, then wait for the Shades of Green bus.
Walking is often faster than waiting for the Resort Monorail if you’re already near the TTC side of the Polynesian.
See the route
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Option 1: Take the Resort Monorail to the TTC. From TTC, board the Shades of Green bus.

Option 2: Walk the Grand Floridian → Polynesian → TTC pathway system (about 1 mile / ~20–25 minutes), then board the Shades of Green bus.

Option 1: ≈ 25–45 minutes total.
Option 2: ≈ 30–50 minutes total depending on walking speed.
For dinner at Grand Floridian, Monorail back to TTC is usually easiest. Walking is great in nice weather and avoids Monorail lines after fireworks.
See the route to the Polynesian and then to the TTC
Disney’s Contemporary Resort Walk ~10 minutes (~0.5 miles) from Contemporary to Magic Kingdom’s front gate. Take the Ferryboat or Monorail to the TTC. At the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 30–45 minutes total once you leave Contemporary. That MK walkway is often the fastest exit after a late dinner at California Grill or Steakhouse 71.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Take the boat from Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom (boats pause for lightning/wind). From Magic Kingdom, take the Ferryboat or Monorail to the TTC. At the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–70 minutes total (longer during weather holds). If boats are not running, buses will be substituted.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Take the boat from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom (or internal bus + boat). From Magic Kingdom, take the Ferryboat or Monorail to the TTC. At the TTC, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 50–80 minutes total, sometimes longer if you’re deep in the campground and need an internal bus first. Fort Wilderness is huge. You may need an internal bus just to reach the marina before you can even start the trip back.

EPCOT / Crescent Lake / Skyliner Area → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn / Beach Club / Yacht Club / Swan / Dolphin / Swan Reserve Option 1: Walk (~15–20+ minutes / ~0.8–1 mile) or take the Friendship Boat back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus.

Option 2: From the International Gateway at EPCOT, you can ride Skyliner to Caribbean Beach and continue toward Hollywood Studios — but this is usually longer than just walking/boating straight to Hollywood Studios.

≈ 45–70 minutes total via Hollywood Studios. Friendship Boats and Skyliner both pause for lightning/high winds. Late at night (after EPCOT fireworks), walking to Hollywood Studios is often the most reliable path.
Disney’s Riviera Resort Take the Skyliner from Riviera to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort hub. Transfer Skyliner lines to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–70 minutes total, depending on Skyliner waits. If Skyliner is down for weather, bus to Hollywood Studios instead and connect to the Shades of Green bus there.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Take the Skyliner from Caribbean Beach directly to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 35–60 minutes total. Caribbean Beach is the Skyliner hub. If Skyliner service is paused due to lightning/wind, take the bus from Caribbean Beach to Hollywood Studios instead.

Animal Kingdom Resort Area → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House / Kidani Village) Take the Disney resort bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. At Animal Kingdom, board the Shades of Green bus back to the resort. ≈ 40–60 minutes total. Alternatively you could board the bus to Hollywood Studios if it arrives first.
Coronado Springs Take the Disney resort bus from Coronado Springs to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–90 minutes total, longer after park close. Coronado is big; add extra time to get from your building to the main bus stop. Hollywood Studios transfer point is usually better than trying to involve Disney Springs.
All-Star Resorts (Movies / Music / Sports) Take the Disney resort bus from your All-Star to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–90 minutes total, longer right after park close. All-Stars often share/rotate buses depending on time of day. Make sure you board the correct one for your specific All-Star on the way out.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Area → Shades of Green

Starting Point How to Get Back to Shades of Green Typical Travel Time Notes / Warnings
Disney’s Pop Century Resort Take the Skyliner from Pop Century / Art of Animation station to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Transfer Skyliner lines to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–75 minutes total (more if Skyliner lines are long at close). Pop Century and Art of Animation share that Skyliner spur across Hourglass Lake. In lightning/wind holds, you’ll need to bus to Hollywood Studios instead of Skyliner.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Take the Skyliner from Art of Animation / Pop Century station to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Transfer Skyliner lines to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, board the Shades of Green bus. ≈ 45–75 minutes total. Same Skyliner spur as Pop Century. Weather holds = bus to Hollywood Studios, then Shades of Green.
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (during events) Use the dedicated event transportation back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom (whichever is operating for your event that day). From that park, board the Shades of Green bus to return to the resort. ≈ 45–90 minutes total, depends entirely on event buses. ESPN transportation is event-based and doesn’t always run outside tournament windows. If no return bus is running, rideshare to Shades of Green (or to Hollywood Studios, then catch the Shades of Green bus).

Getting back to Shades of Green is straightforward once you know where to connect. Most routes involve a transfer through the Transportation and Ticket Center, Hollywood Studios, or elsewhere.
