Mexico is the first country to greet you as if you enter the World Showcase on the left, and what a place to start!

📍EPCOT | World Showcase

As you step into the pavilion, you are instantly transported to the heart of Mexico, immersed in a rich tapestry of culture, history, and culinary delights. The air is filled with the sweet aroma of traditional Mexican cuisine, the lively sounds of mariachi music, and the sight of intricate artwork adorning the walls. And you haven’t even entered the building yet! The Mexico pavilion showcases the diverse beauty and timeless charm of Mexico, right here in the heart of Walt Disney World, and is the favorite of many guests.

Especially if you’re a fan of margaritas and tequila.

Experience a Mexican Fiesta at the Mexico Pavilion

The Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT exudes a captivating and vibrant ambiance that transports visitors to the heart of Mexico. From the moment you arrive, you are enveloped in a rich tapestry of sights, sounds, and aromas that create an immersive experience that will make you feel like you are in Mexico.

The pavilion’s architecture is a sight to behold, with its iconic pyramid structure that pays homage to the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations. The grand entrance draws you into a world where Mexican culture and traditions come alive. The dimly lit streets and charming marketplaces within the pavilion evoke a romantic and mysterious atmosphere, reminiscent of a Mexican town at twilight.

Mexican Museum at the Mexico Pavilion

EPCOT was designed to be both entertaining and educational.  To help educate guests about Mexican culture, the entrance of the pyramid features a museum that offers a glimpse into Mexico’s rich history and cultural heritage.

Upon entering the museum, you are greeted by a curated collection of archaeological treasures, historical artifacts, and intricate artwork. The exhibits showcase Mexico’s ancient civilizations, such as the Aztecs and Mayans, and provide insights into their remarkable achievements in architecture, astronomy, agriculture, and more. From beautifully crafted pottery and sculptures to ancient tools and ceremonial objects, the artifacts on display offer a window into Mexico’s past, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of its rich cultural legacy.

Dining in the Mexico Pavilion

A huge attraction of the World Showcase is the FOOD, and Mexico doesn’t mess around! Get ready for traditional and not-so-traditional margaritas and tapas, it’s time for a real Mexican fiesta!

Let’s explore the different dining options available, conveniently divided into three sections: Table-Service Restaurants, Quick-Service Options, and Snack Carts.

Table-Service Restaurants:

San Angel Inn Restaurante – Step into a charming Mexican hacienda nestled alongside a romantic waterfront setting (even though you’re still technically indoors!). Indulge in authentic dishes while enjoying the serene ambiance.

La Hacienda de San Angel – Offering picturesque views of the World Showcase Lagoon, this waterfront restaurant combines breathtaking scenery with delectable Mexican cuisine. Savor Mexican favorites while immersing yourself in the cozy atmosphere.

Quick-Service Options:

La Cantina de San Angel – Located right on the waterfront, this quick-service eatery offers a selection of mouth-watering Mexican street food. Enjoy flavorful tacos, empanadas, and nachos while savoring views of World Showcase Lagoon. Don’t forget to pair your meal with a refreshing margarita from the outdoor margarita stand.

La Cava del Tequila – While not a traditional dining option, this tequila bar within the Mexico Pavilion is worth mentioning. Explore an extensive selection of tequila and mezcal and sip on expertly crafted cocktails. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere as you enjoy drinks like the classic margarita or unique tequila flights. And yes, you can eat roasted crickets with your mezcal shots. You can. We’ll pass…

Snack Carts:

Choza de Margarita – Located near the Mexico Pavilion’s pyramid entrance, this vibrant outdoor kiosk serves an array of refreshing margaritas in different flavors, including lime, mango, and strawberry. Or you can take a hard left and try a margarita with an ant salt rim. Ant. Salt. Real ants crushed with salt and rimmed on your glass, little legs and all. Treat yourself to a delightful frozen cocktail as you stroll through the World Showcase.

Entertainment in the Mexico Pavilion

Meeting Donald Duck at the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT is a delightful experience that adds an extra touch of Disney magic to your visit. As you explore the pavilion, keep an eye out for Donald, who often greets guests in his festive and colorful Mexican attire. Whether he’s mingling near the entrance or posing for photos in the marketplace, meeting Donald Duck allows you to interact with one of Disney’s most beloved characters in a unique and culturally inspired setting.

In addition to meeting Donald, the Mexico Pavilion offers another incredible live entertainment experience: the Mariachi Cobre band. This talented group of musicians captivates audiences with their energetic performances and authentic renditions of traditional Mexican music.

Dressed in vibrant charro outfits, the Mariachi Cobre band brings the plaza outside the Mexico Pavilion to life with their lively melodies, catchy tunes, and skillful instrumentals. Get ready to belt out “Un Poco Loco” at the top of your lungs!

Attractions in the Mexico Pavilion

The Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT offers an enchanting attraction known as the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. This is a slow-moving classic Disney boat ride with Donald Duck, Panchito, and Jose.

This attraction never has a long line, in fact, it’s typically a walk-on attraction. Gran Fiesta Tour is a great attraction to escape the Florida heat and enjoy a little Donald Duck.

The attraction seamlessly combines projected images, animatronics, and catchy tunes to create a delightful and immersive experience for guests of all ages. The vibrant colors, lively music, and humorous antics of The Three Caballeros keep the energy high as you follow along on their entertaining adventure.

Shopping at the Mexico Pavilion

Shopping in the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT is an experience all its own that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant colors, traditional crafts, and unique treasures of Mexican culture. From artisanal souvenirs to exquisite jewelry and authentic home décor, the pavilion offers a variety of shopping options to satisfy every taste.

Plaza de los Amigos – Located at the heart of the pavilion, this charming marketplace offers a diverse selection of Mexican handicrafts, textiles, and apparel. Explore the stalls and discover beautifully embroidered dresses, ponchos, and sombreros, perfect for capturing the essence of Mexican style. Look out for colorful ceramics, traditional pottery, and intricate Talavera tiles, ideal for bringing a touch of Mexico to your home.

La Tienda Encantada – Step into this enchanting store housed within the pyramid structure and be transported to a bustling Mexican market. Browse through a wide array of merchandise including jewelry, accessories, and traditional folk art. Admire the craftsmanship of intricate silver jewelry adorned with vibrant gemstones, or choose from an assortment of Day of the Dead-themed items like sugar skulls and decorative figurines.
