From grab-and-go bites to elegant sit-down meals, Disney food service has something for everyone!
When you think of Walt Disney World or Disneyland, iconic attractions and magical experiences might be the first things that come to mind, but dining is an adventure all its own!
With so many dining options to choose from, Disney makes sure every guest is well-fed, no matter their taste, schedule, or budget. Whether you’re hunting for a quick bite or ready to savor a gourmet meal, there’s a Disney dining option perfect for you.
Let’s explore the incredible variety of food service types available at the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Table-Service Restaurants
For those seeking a relaxed and immersive dining experience, Disney’s table-service restaurants offer exceptional food with attentive service. These sit-down meals are perfect for taking a break from the parks and soaking in the atmosphere.
Walt Disney World Examples: At Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom, you can dine inside Beast’s enchanted castle, while Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge offers African-inspired dishes with views of roaming giraffes and zebras.
Disneyland Examples: Immerse yourself in classic Disney charm at Carnation Café on Main Street, U.S.A., or savor Italian dishes with a view of Pixar Pier at Wine Country Trattoria in Disney California Adventure.
Pro Tip: Be sure to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) early, these popular spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons.
Signature Dining

Pro Tip: Dress up and savor the experience—this is fine dining at its best! And be sure to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) early.
Buffet Dining
Buffets at Disney are a feast for both the eyes and the stomach. With all-you-can-eat offerings featuring international cuisines and fan-favorite dishes, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Walt Disney World Examples: Biergarten in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion offers authentic Bavarian flavors, or indulge in a bountiful seafood buffet at Cape May Café in Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
Disneyland Examples: Enjoy a hearty buffet featuring American classics at Goofy’s Kitchen in Disneyland Hotel.
Pro Tip: Disney buffets are allergy-friendly, with Cast Members ready to assist with dietary needs and custom options.
Family Dining (All-You-Care-to-Enjoy)
For a family-style dining experience, Disney’s All-You-Care-to-Enjoy meals are served directly to your table, ensuring everyone gets their fill. Large platters or bowels of delicious dishes are replenished as often as you like, making this a favorite for groups.
Walt Disney World Examples: ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort delivers a tropical twist on family dining, while Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom serves hearty, colonial-style comfort food. Or while Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at EPCOT lets you dine like royalty with a Scandinavian twist.
Disneyland Examples: Feast on barbecue platters and fixins at Plaza Inn’s all-you-care-to-eat breakfast buffet in Disneyland Park.
Pro Tip: These meals are perfect for family gatherings or celebrations—just make sure to book ahead!
Prix Fixe Dining
Prix fixe meals offer a set price for a curated, multi-course menu, making it easy to enjoy a complete dining experience without worrying about the bill adding up. Disney began offering this meal type a few years ago at new/high-demand restaurants. They do this to prevent guests from taking up reservation times that are blocked time-wise for full meals with a short stay for just apps, desserts, or drinks to experience the location.
Prix Fixe is pronounced Pre Feaks (like leaks). These meals typically include 2 to 3 courses at Disney, Â a main course, and also an appetizer and/or dessert. There are typically several choices for each course.
Walt Disney World Examples: Space 220 Restaurant (not the Lounge, which is a la carte) at EPCOT takes you 220 miles above Earth for a truly out-of-this-world meal, or the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort where you can experience the Magic Kingdom fireworks from on top of the world.
Disneyland Examples: Enjoy a curated, multi-course meal while watching fireworks from the balcony at Blue Bayou in Disneyland Park or savor an elevated prix fixe menu at Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure.
Pro Tip: Prix fixe meals are a great way to try a bit of everything—perfect for foodies or anyone looking to indulge! And be sure to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) early.
Character Dining
Who wouldn’t love a meal with their favorite Disney characters? Character dining experiences bring the magic of Disney to your table, with special appearances by beloved characters who stop by for photos and autographs.
Walt Disney World Examples: Dine like royalty at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom, or keep it playful with Mickey and friends at Chef Mickey’s in Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Disneyland Examples: Share a magical breakfast with Disney Princesses at Napa Rose in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel or meet Mickey and friends during a buffet at Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast in Storytellers Café.
Character Dining tends to offer either Buffet, All-You-Care-to-Eat, or Prix Fixe dining.
Pro Tip: Reserve your ADRs early for these memorable meals (60 days in advance), and keep your camera ready for magical moments!
Quick-Service Restaurants
If you’re looking for a fast and convenient way to grab a meal while keeping up with all the fun, quick-service restaurants are the way to go. These casual eateries are great for families on the go, offering counter ordering and self-seating so you can enjoy your meal at your own pace.
Walt Disney World Examples: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café at Magic Kingdom serves up classic American fare with a side of intergalactic entertainment, while Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers smoky, flavorful dishes in a tranquil outdoor setting.
Disneyland Examples: Grab a galactic burger at Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland or enjoy fresh Pacific-inspired tacos at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill in Disney California Adventure.
Pro Tip: Save time by using the Mobile Order service, available at many quick-service locations, so your meal is ready when you are!
Snack Stands and Carts
Disney snacks are practically an attraction in their own right! These walk-up stands serve up everything from churros and Mickey pretzels to the ever-iconic Dole Whip.
Walt Disney World Examples: Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom is the go-to spot for a refreshing pineapple Dole Whip, while Pongu Pongu in Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers tasty treats with a Pandora twist.
Disneyland Examples: Treat yourself to a classic churro from one of the many carts throughout Disneyland Park or cool off with a Dole Whip from the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventureland.
Pro Tip: Grab a snack to enjoy during parades or while waiting in line—it’s the perfect way to keep the magic going!
Lounges and Bars
Sometimes, you just need a relaxing drink or a light bite to recharge. Disney’s lounges and bars provide a cozy escape with unique drinks and themed settings that let you unwind in style.
Walt Disney World Examples: Sip on intergalactic concoctions at Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios or enjoy the tranquil vibes of Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disneyland Relax with a handcrafted cocktail and small plates at GCH Craftsman Bar in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel or unwind with craft beer and appetizers at Lamplight Lounge in Disney California Adventure.
Pro Tip: Most lounges don’t require reservations, making them perfect for a spontaneous stop during your Disney day. However, some do require making reservations via the My Disney Experience or Disneyland apps or in person, notably, the Brown Derby Lounge and the Nomad Lounge.
In-Room Dining and Resort Delivery
If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, dining doesn’t have to stop when you’re ready to relax. Enjoy meals delivered straight to your room or traditional room service at select Deluxe Resorts.
Walt Disney World Examples: Order breakfast in bed at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort or wind down with a late-night pizza at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
Disneyland Examples: Start your day with a Mickey Waffle breakfast delivered to your room at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa or enjoy a quiet pizza night at the Disneyland Hotel after a long park day.
Pro Tip: This is a great option for early risers, night owls, or anyone needing a quiet meal after a busy park day.

Disney Food Service Types — FAQ
What’s the difference between Quick Service and Table Service?
Quick Service: order at a counter/window and seat yourself—fast and flexible.
Table Service: you’re seated by a host and a server takes your order—great for a relaxing break (often needs ADRs).
How do Buffet, Family-Style (All-You-Care-to-Enjoy), and Prix Fixe differ?
Buffet: unlimited self-serve.
Family-Style/All-You-Care-to-Enjoy: platters or bowls are brought to your table and replenished.
Prix Fixe: set, multi-course menu at a fixed price (common at high-demand spots like Space 220 Restaurant).
What is Character Dining?
A meal where Disney Characters visit your table for photos and fun. Many are buffet, family-style, or prix fixe. Park admission is required for in-park venues.
Do I need reservations (ADRs)?
For Table Service, Signature, Character Dining, and many Prix Fixe locations, yes—book at 60 days. Popular venues fill fast. Lounges are often walk-in friendly, but a few accept/require reservations.
What about allergies or special diets?
Disney is very accommodating. Ask to speak with a chef or trained Cast Member; many buffets and family-style meals have allergy-friendly options.
Is Mobile Order available?
Yes—at many Quick Service locations. Use the app to pick a window and skip the line.
Are tips included?
Gratuities are not included at most Table Service meals (auto-gratuity may apply to large parties). Buffet/family-style also typically exclude gratuity unless noted.
Any strategy for choosing the right dining type?
Plan Table/Signature/Character for longer breaks or celebrations; use Quick Service + Mobile Order to maximize ride time; try lounges for small plates without a full reservation; consider prix fixe for a splurge or special view/experience.
How-To: Pick the Right Disney Dining Type for Your Day
- Set your pace. Big park day? Choose Quick Service + Mobile Order. Slower day or celebration? Book Table/Signature/Character.
- Budget it. Buffets/family-style suit hearty eaters; prix fixe offers curated courses at a known price.
- Check location. Stay near your park/resort to reduce travel time; consider views (e.g., fireworks vantage points).
- Lock must-dos early. Make 60-day ADRs for anything can’t-miss; star a lounge as a backup.
- Mind allergies. Note dietary needs in the app and request to speak with a chef on arrival.
- Mix it up. Alternate sit-down meals with snack carts and lounges so your schedule stays flexible and fun.
